What's everyones opinion on what the most stable vanilla jb rom is?
I'm currently on cm10. The battery is not the best, especcially as I just use it as a media device and not a phone, so it's always on airplane mode, and I dont even use that often tbh. Another thing, it's always awake. I have Betterbatterystats and cpu spy but says nothing unusual's going on.
Apart from that though, everything works fine. When i put my sim card in, it gets 3g fine, tested out the gps with endomondo pro earlier and was great. Camera's good.
lol I'm aware I can just flash another vanilla jb rom and see if things improve, but i wanna see what most of you guys are rocking first.
There's a lot of awake time Vs screen on time there for the first 6 hours where I presume you were sleeping?
One thing I've found with JB ROMs on the One X is battery life is generally much worse compared to Sense ROMs. I wonder if it's the same for JB ROMs everywhere?
Give Betterbatterystats a go and see if there's anything causing wakelocks or any errant processes running that shouldn't be.
Try turning location services off, I've found that makes a massive difference for me.
I did not follow the advice...I just wipe the ROM since I am not big on AOKP anyway... he he. But its good advice.
The only JB ROM I have used is Randomblames Jelly Time. Has a few issues which change from build to build. JellyTime RC18 was just released a few hours ago so not much feedback yet, but that release focuses on bug fixing. You may want to give it a look.

Might be good to wait a week, since they have their new M2 ROM's out. Alhtough I think DHD ports are based on one of the Sony Xperia Neo's so not a M2 ROM.
I think reading the xda forums, and these forums on different ROMs, CM10 nightlies that I currently have is not too bad actually.
It's just the wake vs screen on issue I have. I have betterbattery stats and I cant make any sense from the info it's giving me lol. I don't know if it's good or bad, and if it's bad, what the solution is.
Just one more thing, I've backed up my apps etc on titanium backup, so if i flash a different rom, do i just download titanium backup again, and restore the apps from there? I'm confused about backing up apps, because all i know pre rooting, you just signed into google play and d/load your apps one by one.
Open Titanium Backup, click menu and create an "update.zip". After you flash the new ROM, before you reboot this, you can flash this zip. When you reboot Ti Backup will be installed, and you can install the rest of your apps using Ti Backup.

Why do you need root access to be able to back up your apps? I deleted a couple apps and restored them to see what it was like, and it was so easy and simple. So tedious going back on play store and re-d/loading like i've had to in the past.

You need root to backup the app data

Because you don't want apps to have that kind of access to all of your other apps. If any app had access to all other apps data you'd have absolutely no privacy.
The play store already backs up most of your data and settings, so they are making progress for non-rooted users

Tried to install JT again yesterday... same issue I had as before... it seemed to hang at the screen with "Jelly Time"... was actually flashing the ROM whilst waiting for the bus and didn't want to not be able to use my phone while I was out, so just restored my backup!
I did not read through JellyTime flash instructions to well but some ROM'S I have installed specify 4Ext Recovery "recommended" usually the ones that give options during installation. The JellyTime ROM does not, if remember correctly. Still, I don't know what else to recommend.
I would feel kind of stupid asking you if you did a full wipe
If you go back on the JellyTime thread to around R7 you will see guys with all kind of strange problems like gyro not working and posting remedies like unrooting and rooting again.
So there have been odd install issues.
Another option might be to try my odd full wipe = Factory Reset + cache + dalvik + format all partitions except SDCard.
D-U-R-X,im 99% sure the first time i flashed jelly time i used clockwork,so recovery should not be a cause. but i guess it wouldnt hurt to try it with CW or 4ext. plus, you may like 4ext if you give it a shot i know of some good instructions on how to use it!
i cant think of any reason it would hang, there are no unusual install instructions- just full wipe, flash rom, flash gapps.
youre not accidentally flashing a cm7 or ICS gapps, are you?
its not using stupid aroma installer...
what baseband are you running? i guess it could have a firmware incompatability, but if that were the case,id expect ice cold to not run either. hmm.
mebbe ill give it a flash later. been on my beloved for a few weeks now, might be time to move the sim back over to the inspire
i also downloaded miui for S&Gs,but as i mentioned im not a huge fan of it(looks to much like iOS )
Flashed plenty of ROM's, but just can't bring myself to flash a MIUI ROM
its something you have to experience, ral. lots of folks like it becasue it is highly themable and modifiable. as a fellow flashoholic, you cant never have had miui on your phone... even if its only there long enuff to say "um,yeaaaaaah. no. "

to me it looks too cartoony, and iOS-like. but i still flash it now and then to see if my tastes have changed any
so i went ahead and flashed it last night. just for ral. i wanted to post you a bunch of screenines, but now im late for work
it actually is kind of a nice change,i find i dont hate it quite as much as i used to. and i have to agree the permissions manager is slick.
that said, ill prolly flash jelly time when i get home
if you can deal with the cartoony lookin icons,it actually wouldnt be bad to run it set up with apex or nova launcher,so youd have an app drawer and a more familiar interface
It's got some things other roms just don't offer, like the miui permissions manager. Have an app that asks for too many permissions? Just change it.
MiUI has some interesting features. My daily ROM, Blackout ICS has a MIUI battery bar option. Pretty ingenious. Unfortunately, they way I feel about MIUI is the same way I feel about Samsung's TouchWiz. If I got a Galaxy S III, I would flash CM10 as soon as I got home.

It also has hands down the best music player that comes with any ROM. I actually quite liked MIUI on my DHD, but the battery life was often quite bad so I never had it for long
I fancy trying JellyBean Jelly Time tomorrow... anyone got any instructions on how I should do this? I've never used 4ext only CWMod when I flashed Blackout ICS 'my current rom'.

Despite the discussion above, CWM should do fine. Nothing special really. Backup > Full Wipe > Flash Jelly Time > Flash Google Apps > Reboot.
thats what im running!! its got some themes that, when combined with apex or nova launcher,do not make your eyes bleed nearly as bad i had to work late,so i didnt change it yet... i may actually give it a few days.
my only complaint so far is the issue i had with another jb rom(i forget wich one now) where you unlock it and the screen is black... i have to put it back to sleep with the power button, then unlock a second time to see the screen
aside from that, its got a comparably sized(to other AOSP roms) footprint in memory, and it runs pretty smooth.
