Default Stop phone from creating music albums?

This is one thing that always annoys me when syncing music to various devices, im hoping it can be disabled.

Just got a big enough SD card for my music. Used HTC Sync to sync it all up but it wants to create albums for every song. I have albums with only one song in it now. On my computer its all organised, all the single songs are separate to the albums which are in their own folders. Its also done it so that one album is now spilt into about 10 albums all with the same name but one song in each album. Very odd. I have a lot of music so I can't go back now and change all the ID3 tags and whatnot.

Is there a simple way to disable it so that it doesn't create its own albums for everything? I have it all organised on the PC so if i could simply replicate that on the phone it would be perfect. I'm using music mod at the moment for its widget but that can open into googles app, the htc one or music mod itself. They've all done the same thing.

Thanks in advance.

Personally, I don't bother syncing my phone any more... I connect my phone as USB mass storage and copy what I want in to the "music" folder on my SD card.

I actually did sync a load of singles on to the phone and it put them in different alboms (similar to what you have said) - I do realise that, as they were by different artists and from different albums, it was going to do this, but thought it was a pain... I then used the computer to change the locations of the songs (deleted the extra folders that get created)... they are all now stored like this "music=>song title" rather than "music=>artist=>album=>song title".

So a simple copy and paste job into the Music folder will stop it creating albums? I'll give it a go anyway, i can give up the sync thing if it sorts it out, its a right pain in the arse. I'll try the other options of deleting the extra folders if that doesn't work. Cheers.

How did you manage this? When i load the phone onto the PC and go through the music folder, none of the extra created folders appear. Do i have to show hidden folders or something?

Copy and pasting didn't work as it still created all these nonsense albums, so the above is my only option, otherwise i'll just have to live with it i guess.

If you copy + pasted your files to /sdcard/music in the correct file structure, but the phone still reads these incorrect albums, then I would say your ID3 tags are to blame. Your only option, other than retagging (which could save you frustration in the long run), would seem to be finding an MP3 player app that allowed you to browse by folders on the sdcard rather than the tags.

Definitely the ID3 tags, i have no plans to fix them though, it would take forever and at the moment the only place i need my music is my phone and PC.

Anyway since my last post ive been searching for a new music player/widget because i wasn't that happy with music mod. Anyway think i found the perfect one, PlayerPro, having a go at the 5 day trial at the moment and it seems perfect, lots of features and the option to browse by folders which eliminates the album problem. Seems like a very good app.

Good to see the controls on my earphones work too. That could save me a lot of time since i love skipping through songs.

Dependent on your choice of app, you can also change songs by holding the volume rocker and pause/unpause by removing/inserting the headphone jack. It makes it much more convenient if you don't have earphones with controls.

Turns out only one button works on mine, play and pause. Being able to use the volume buttons to skip tracks was going to be my next question so cheers for the answer. Much easier then waking up the phone and flicking through the widget or app.

I realised yesterday that it works on poweramp, so long as you enable headset controls (which I had originally disabled). But that may or may not be the case for PlayerPro.

With PowerAMP, I've found that, by ticking the following options, I can use the single centre button on my earphones to pause/resume, go back one track, go forward one track.

Respond To Headset Buttons
High Priority
Double/Triple Press

All the above are in Settings -> Headset Options

Just got the Pro version, off the trial now, enabled the double/triple press feature and it now means that the centre button on my earphone can be double tapped to skip, and triple tapped to restart the song. Don't think it goes back a track but thats fine with me. Thats got me sorted. Cheers for the tip.

Bloody hell since i had to send my phone off to repair the screen/format it and all that i've found a million and ten more things that i can do with this phone that i never used before. I'm almost glad it happened. Quite happy with the way my phone is set up now.

Thanks for all the help on here chaps, i'll thank each post.
