Mad update to 2.3.5 has been the most irritating experience

I have just upgraded my Desire HD to Android 2.3.5 with Htc sense 3.0
Software number 3.13.720.2

Its all good with new features and nicer widgets/lock screen.

But there is one thing thats constantly bugging me...

Flash messages

I have been constantly recieving flash messages ever since I upgraded.

just check the time in these screenshots:

One message Every Damn minute.

Now i dont know for sure whether its an android issue or a vodafone issue,
but it sure irritates the hell out of me !!

I have gone to sim settings > flash services and deactivated it:

deactivated:

But its still coming !!!

Some one please help ... I dont want to reset my phone

The most irritating part is that this popup comes above all applications !
and uses the default notification sound.

Update :

I had a call with vodafone customer care (Complaint no : 1112840192) and they said its deactivated !!

I am still getting messages... every 50 to 60 seconds !!
I am going crazy

Screenshot with the vodafone text message in background:

I am litterally brainwashed to go and pay Rs129 to get the "Desiboy" caller tune !!!

God Please Help me.

Hi salvin. Found this while hunting around for a solution.

Here are the steps to block those flash SMS:
1. Go to Menu from your mobile phone.
2. Then click on Vodafone services
3. Then click on first option FLASH!
4. Then you will see Activation as first option click it and press Deactivate
5. Then you can also see My topics in your FLASH! option
6. Then set all the services as OFF

You said you have done FLASH Deactivation but have you tried steps 5 and 6

Hope this helps.

hi,
I think i found the solution for this...
These are not flash messages.

They are cell broadcast information.

Vodafone should ideally be broadcasting me the area I am in. However, they are shamelessly broadcasting thier own advertises on the channel (Also known as channel 50)

For those with this same issue : Go to Settings > Call > Cell broadcast
Turn it off

Honestly.. I came very very close to formatting my phone...

This is very misleading as these messages are not supposed to be advertisements.
