Default Formatting SD Card

Right then, I have a (probably simple) question to ask

My HTC Desire keeps crashing etc. and now it has come up "SD Card Damaged Reformat".

When I reformat the card, I will loose all my data (I know that much).

But, if I copy all the data off my SD Card onto my PC first (which I am doing now). Once I have reformatted my SD Card, can I simply copy the files from the PC back onto the SD Card?

Thank you

Sure. I've done it plenty of time when I've partitioned my SD card for apps2SD (which requires a reformat). I only copy certain things back like music and videos and such because copying everything back to a 16 GB card is time consuming.
