Default Transferring Contacts To Car

Hi I've searched and tried but can't figure how to transfer my contacst to my car. It has a built in sat nav with hands free bluetooth and address book.

I looked at the Transfer Data App but that doesn't work and I can't find any way of doing this in the People app.

With all my old phones you could just go into the contacts menu and select Send all contacts via bluetooth, select the car (as it is paired) and away you go. Simples.

Is it possible to do this with the Desire HD?
Otherwise I will have to input each contact into the car manually one at a time.

Thanks In Advance.................

It all depends on the car bluetooth setup ..... I'd start by looking at that side of things first.

Thanks. But when i go into the cars settings to bluetooth the contacts across it then says 'Use the phone to transfer contacts'.

The phone has to send to the car to receive. The car will not take the contacts.

Just seems strange that a modern smartphone can't block send contacts. Where all my old SE'S inc. W900 and iphone 3G can.

Maybe it was never ment to be. I'll see if there is an app in the Market that can help.

Thanks for your help...........

OK then. I just like to ask the obvious somethimes because I, for one, sometimes miss it

What happens if you 'Mark all' contacts and then send? (Not sure you can do this as mine isn't to hand to check).

Good point. Alas there is nothing in the Menu to enable you to select all or even select individually. If you press and hold a contact you can send via a vCard. Then you can select bluetooth. Nothing for block sending though...
I'll have to see if my car can import/understand vCards.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards

You're right. But you can 'select all' when adding to a 'group'. So 'People/groups' (2nd icon from the left on the bottom). 'Add group' from top of screen. 'Add contact to group>Menu>select all'. Then all your contacts are in one group. Whether that helps I don't know .....

I will try uploading this to the car later today and get back to you with the results.

Like I said earlier I can do it indiviually using the native Poeple app but I hoping this will work to upload all of them.

BINGO, It worked. I was able to upload all my contacts from a single .vcf file using the free app Bluetooth file transfer.

Still not quite sure why youre able to Bluetooth 1 contact at a time but not multiples.
I even contacted HTC about this and they agreed. It's one at a time or a third party app.
In fact thanks goes to the HTC customer support for mentioning this idea.

I have a slightlu different problem with my desire HD and my car bluetooth. So far I have managed to get my phone connected to the bluetooth of the car, and I can receive calls and even make calls using the phone (but not the car command functions). When I do so it displays only about 4 correspondants in the list. I think it gets them from somewhere but not from the actual place where all my contacts are stored. Is it getting them from my phone, from my google account on my phone ? Or from somewhere else ? I have tried everything from the phone and the car side with no avail. To safely make calls from the car I should be able to use the steering wheel commands which means the car has to be able to read my made calls and contacts.
I connected my wife's phone (normal nokia phone) and immediately I had all her calls and all het contacts on the display and could use the steering wheel commands.

When you look at the contacts that are visible on the phone? What type of contacts are they? SIM/Phone/Google?
