Question Deleting characters deletes messages

Hi, I hope someone can help with this, as I can't find anything on this subject.

Sometimes when I am writing a text message, pressing the backspace key will result in the screen showing threads of text messages, asking me which ones I'd like to select for deleting.

All I want to do is delete characters, not threads.

It is usually accompanied by a lack of automatic capitalisation when entering text.

Does anyone know what this is and how to stop it?.
Am I doing something wrong?.
Do I have fat fingers and am inadvertantly pressing a key which causes this?.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks.

Al.

Nope, it's not fat fingers at all, it's one of the minor quirks of HTC's Gingerbread software. You can try installing another keyboard, that has been known to ease the issue, but not get rid of it completely.

It is very annoying!

SwiftKeyX has actually got rid of the problem completely for me.

Really? Buggrit.

I'll have a look at other keyboards then.

Thank you both.
