HTC Desire Z cannot get S-ON back

So details first:

At Startup:

VISION PVT S-OFF
HBOOT – 0.85.0005
MICROP – 0425
RADIO – 26.03.02.26_M

HTC Desire Z. Had this phone rooted to load custom ROMs, now want to send it in for warranty purposes.
The phone appears not to be rooted anymore, but I still got S-OFF, cannot get it to S-ON.
Tried to update with RUU (3 WWE versions), tried it with placing PC10IMG.ZIP on SD card and do the update. All’s good, just that god damn S-OFF is still there.

Found a guide on unl..er, but cannot get the first command to work as obviously I’m not rooted anymore.

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17 of=/sdcard/misc.img

What would you suggest to do to get S-ON?

I was even thinking to root again and then just try that guide again.
And also can you apply factory stock boot loader from T-Mobile G2 onto HTC Desire Z ?

I don't think you can touch hboot without root. There are instructions here on reverting to S-ON using .gfree via a temp root.
