hey guys iv been meaning to root my phone for ages and iv been told its not that hard but im seriously struggling

im fairly bright and switched on technology wise but this whole thing keeps making my head spin! i gess its not the actual technical instructions that i find difficult its finding out what i need to do in what order

i have goggled this but i think im in need off some friendly help for some users


my phone is a desire z and its running
android 2.3.3
htc sence 2.1
kernel 2.6.35.10
software number 2.42.405.4

iv got 2 off these phones so im going to root my spare one first as a practice and incase a brick it
i understand the the first step is to downgrade my firmware?
