Default **want to start theming/modding/romming**

As the title says i want to get my hands dirty. I have a fairly good computer knowledge and i work in the software field. I have never done any developing though.

Can someone point me in the right direction to get started. I've read a few guides but its hard to tell how current they are.

i've read about .9's and how tedious they are.

i have this guide but its old as dirt.
https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AcdxIJRSH9ypZGZzc2pxNDlfMjdnazk4OHNxZA& hl=en_US

Also i'm on a MBP. I do have access to a windows machine and i have VM Fusion loaded on my MBP with a Win7 build and Ubuntu. I've never used Ubuntu but i wouldn't be afraid with having to learn it in order to achieve my goal.

Thanks in advance. Sorry if this has already been asked.

You can install a full Ubuntu on your MBP if you want using VirtualBox - install help here -

Root For the APPLE NATION?

Also, you'll definitely need to study up at Android Developers

But first, suggest googling anything you can on how to get started programming.

Hope this helps!

To make roms you basicaly have to know programming.. If you do the i think there should be a source code at the androids site which you can download and modify..

Look at this: Welcome to Android | Android Open Source

I think you should read the most in that site.. here is the getting started stuff: Initializing a Build Environment | Android Open Source
