Sad Problems getting started in Eclipse

1. How do I make a shortcut to eclipse? Right now the only way i can get into eclipse is opening a file on my desktop "eclipse-SDK-3.7.1-win32" and going to the eclipse folder - > eclipse.exe

2. This is probably directly related to problem 1, when i download the android ADT plugin then shut down eclipse for later, i come back and its gone...wtf?!!

I'm completely confused on this so any help would be appreciated.

(Oh no, a compound Windows and Android noob, this could be painful).

It sounds like you might be repeatedly extracting the Eclipse archive into a temp directory and then running eclipse from that. You'll probably find that your temp directory is full of copies of Eclipse.

What you want to do is extract that .zip file on your desktop once into C:\. This will "install" Eclipse into C:\Eclipse.

When you've done that find the eclipse.exe file under C:\Eclipse, drag the file with the right mouse button onto your desktop, release the right mouse button, and the click "Create shortcut here".

You should then be able to start Eclipse by double-clicking the shortcut on your desktop.

And you should find that your Eclipse plugins stop disappearing.
