Default new phone or wait?

I am still using my launch month EVO 4g. It has been rock solid for the most part but I am getting the itch to make a jump.

I am sticking with Sprint because I have a nice discount.

A couple of things I live about my EVO4g is the kickstand and the LED light.

The EVO 4g LTE seems like a logical replacement but I don't want to be short sighted.

I have played around with a Galaxy Note and when I heard that the Note 2 is coming to Sprint I started to give it some thought even though it is probably too big to deal with on a day to day basis.

Supposedly Sprint is currently working on the 4G LTE infrastructure in Chicagoland so getting a LTE compatible phone only makes sense.

Since I keep my phones for years should I make the move now (or in a month or two when the Note 2 releases) or is there a technological advance on the near horizon that I should be waiting for?

The main reason I am asking about this is because I just read something about the HTC One X+ which I would assume would transfer over to Sprint soon after.

If you don't have a compelling need to update (your phone still works) and no phone has you smitten at the moment, why not wait. I imagine we will soon see rumors for the holiday lineup plus all the supposed Nexus devices. Could be worth the wait. Other than that, the current top three would be ElTevo, S3, and Note 2 IMO.

No matter what you buy or when, there will always be something better right around the corner. If you feel the need to upgrade, go to a store and play with some phones to see what works for you.

Thats the funny thing. When I got my Evo it seemed to be the top of the line for a long time.

That being said, the 4gLTE is off the table as an upgrade after I read a few threads about the phone bending. People are bending them by having them in their back pocket and sitting in their car. I am way too rough on phones to deal with that. I know that with the Note I would have to make special concessions since it is so huge and would get destroyed if I kept it in my pocket all day but I do not think I am willing to deal with that on a normal phone.

I guess I will hold off until something really grabs my attention.
