Lupino,

I try to flash my Lenovo A60 phone to get it google proof.
There is no android market on it and I can make a google account.
After days of serving on the internet I have al the files I need.
When I connect the phone to my windows laptop he ask for a driver.
I googled a lot for it and now I found your review.
Would you send me the driver please?

Regards Marc

Since friday morning I've got 2 horizontal black lines across the screen. They are always there, even while booting. It looks like a hardware problem with the screen.

They appeared after a long night of charging, and have been there ever since. I haven't dropped it and it didn't become wet or anything. Nothing special happened to it, just normal usage.

I rebooted it multiple times and got the battery out while the phone was still on. No results.

I can't seem to update the system, when I go to
settings > About phone > System update > Check now
it checks but then I gives an error:
This software version does not support OTA update.

Any suggestions?

Yep. I think computer universe are a reputable company and you should have no problem with getting a replacement.

Viewsonic has anounced new Android dual sim smartphone Viewsonic V430:
ViewSonic V430 steps up to the plate with Froyo and a 4.3" display - coming to Russia first
According to Russian computer's journal iXBT.com (http://www.ixbt.com/news/hard/index.shtml?15/05/80): V430 uses Android 2.2 and has 4,3" WVGA display (800x480), Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1 GHz, RAM 512 MB, ROM 512 MB, microSD up to 32GB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and two cameras.

It's strange for me that both anounced smartphones are absent on the Philips's and Viewsonic's oficial sites.

Would say it is probably dual sim (even though I noticed the ommision too). The specs (processor/ram) say it should be able to run gingerbread and their own 3d interface (unlike the V350)

Would say it will have to come in at less than €350; as the old Galaxy S1 (9000) and Galaxy LCD SL (9003) are arguably better at around €400.

It's odd that fedex gives expansys a choice in how quickly the package returns. I've never heard of that.

One rare benefit you get with Expansys is the option to pay with credit card. Didn't you use credit card? If so, you can simply call your bank and dispute the charge. You shouldn't care how the phone makes it back to expansys, as long as they do not have your signature proving that the phone was delivered to you. The bank will require them to prove delivery, and they won't have proof, and you'll win the dispute automatically.

Default 2 different ring tones? Possible?

I am very interested in buying the Arcturus - Dual SIM Android 2.2 Smartphone but I need to know if the phone allows you to set a different ring tone for each SIM. I plan to use one line for business and the other for personal use. I want to know which line the call is coming in on without looking at the phone. If anyone has this phone I'd really appreciate knowing. Thanks in advance.

Can anybody tell me exactly what the term 'Dual-Cellular Parallel Operation' means with regard to dual-sim phones. Does it mean just dual standby or 'real' dual opperation (one on a call, the second on 'available' standby).

The word parallel would maybe suggest two separate lines side by side.

It doesn't mean anything. Its the fancy way of saying dual sim. It could mean either active or standby.

XT317 is on the official website: Motorola Spice Key XT317 - Smarthphone - dual sim - Especificações - Motorola Industrial Ltda. Brasil
Maybe it is new model and we must wait for it. Anyway I find this phone very interesting. I sent a question to Motorola US and wait for reply.

The full specs are here: Motorola SPICE Key XT317 - Full phone specifications

Its a decent phone, it has the same specs as the v350 just unfortunately it has a very small screen and a qwerty keyboard.

The phone has not been released yet so its only showing in some stores on preorder

Make sure you get the dual-sim version of this phone.

The Spice, Spice XT, Fire, Fire XT, 531 XT, Spice 531 XT, Fire 531 XT, 530 XT, non-key or key. So many different names for two or three phones with both single and dual sim. I think Motorola is losing the plot with regards to the naming of their phones.

The V350 has 512MB RAM where are GSMarena mentions that the spice has 256MB. GSMarena might have actually got the specs wrong. It's saying its a 600Mhz Qualcomm 7227-1. That is the turbo so it should be 800Mhz.

Shame about the screen. I like hardware keyboards but this one is not good with such a low resolution.

How much RAM and ROM you have on V350? I think that there would be 512MB ram and 512MB rom.

Still I got error message that internal memory is full even I have not lots of apps installed.

Android system info (https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result) says that max 423MB ram is avaible and only max 157MB rom. So is there something wrong? Only about 20MB rom is avaible in normal use... Is it so that Android rom itselves eats almoust all rom...? Not nice.

What are your max. and free in rom and ram?

yeah just be careful, don't confuse Motorola SPICE Key XT317 with Xt531 they are different phones, agree that Motorola need to sort out their naming convention.

as it stands the dual sim version has not been released and for the last two months I have not seen any updates about it. Philips rekon their 4.3inch will be released on Diwali which is 26th october, but they have yet to release any more specs about it, at this rate i would say Philips will beat moto in releasing their dual sims. I would assume the philips specs will be at least equal most probably better than the xt531.

However I found this neat phone,Buy Android 2.3, MTK6573 hd7 b63m cellphone, 3g Capacitive dual sim celular, Android 2.3 phone MTK6573 3G WCDMA Star A3 Capacitive screen WIFI TV GPS Unlocked Mobile phone at **********.comwhich I'm really tempted to buy, one thing I don't quite get though, is they say its 256mb RAM and 512mb ROM.. yet in the system info screen show under RAM it says 446 free (meaning 512mb) does that sound right to anyone else??

The Spice XT, Fire XT, and XT 531 are all the same, all have 800Mhz, 512 RAM, 512 RAM and do not have keyboard (they have full touch screen). They come in both single and dual sim, the latter being reserved for some Asian countries.

On the otherhand the 'Fire', 'Spice' and 'Spice key XT317' are lower spec phones with qwerty keyboard.

There is also a Domino (in China) and I am not sure if this has an XT 531 flavour also. There is also mention of an XT 530.

The problem is Motorola have given out so little information since their press release in early August. This has the bloggers copying each other and the information gets a bit twisted. Motorola are no help with their somewhat confusing names.

The Fire XT has been available (single sim version) in India for the past few weeks. There are a few mini reviews coming out of India as of last weekend.

My V350 got a 3rd black line, again after a night of recharging. It's a few pixels below the 2nd line. The place seems to be random.

Jeroensteijl, was there any charging involved with your line?

After reading through all of both @expressmart and @scophones posts, it seems like they are doing some marketing for the bluelans.com site.

I just picked up a new dual sim Android and it's awesome. It's called a g10, not sure who makes it. I've loaded tons of stuff from the market and havent had any problems. I dont really know what the specs mean but they are on the site where I got it from.

I'll look for the email from when i bought it if you want to check out the specs.

Got an email from computeruniverse to fill in the RMA form on their website and send the V350 back to them.

They provided a parcel label with all the information filled in, so the return is free of charge.

To be continued...

Default Lenovo A60

Hiya guys,

I've been looking for a good dual sim android phone for a long time and I've been keeping my eye on this thread. I registered to this forum just now to thank you all and add my 2 cents.

I've been waiting for the V350, but after some poor reviews in this thread I looked on and spotted the A60 on the wiki. I ordered it a few days ago from rockstoreonline.eu. Being dutch myself I thought it would be easier to communicate with a dutch seller and to return the product if necessary. They also deliver the phone rooted with complete android market and dutch language and keyboard installed like etotalk does, so I'm very happy with that. Too bad etotalk is €80 cheaper shipping to europe (without import tax) due to the cheap dollar, but oh well...

I'll let you know my experiences when I recieve the phone!

Awesome?

You must be having a laugh. It's got to be the worst spec phone in this thread. The processor at 460Mhz and 256 RAM seems like it could never run 2.2 without crashing. The 2mp still camera and 176x144 video is very poor.

There are some China phones that are not too bad; but this looks like the ones sold in Shenzhen Hua Qiang Bei for under hundred dollars.

$148. I suppose they (or you?) have to make a profit. But please do not insult us saying this phone is awesome. People may think you are another spammer.

I think we've got no choice. I made peace with it. If it first have to get to computeruniverse, then to ViewSonic, then back to computeruniverse and then back to me, that will take quit a lot of time I presume.

I doubt it can be fixed, I don't think they are gonna put a new screen in it either. Or it must be a problem with the graphics card or something they can solve by flashing it or something like that. So I think they are gonna send a new one.

If it's a problem they already know about (maybe the reason why it took them so long to get it on the market) and they know they can't fix it, maybe they will tell computeruniverse to send a new one right away.

But a new one will probably have the same problem, unless our phones where part of a first bad batch and the new batches no longer have this problem.

We'll have to wait and see...

When I look at the screen shots of the phone it doesn't show any info about the sim switching. when you send an sms are you prompted to choose which sim to send from, and also in the pictures when calling it shows only one phone button, how do you choose to call from sim 1 or sim 2?

Hi Goek,
I'm very curious about this phone and your experiences with it and also with the delivery by rockstoreonline. I'm also looking for a good Android dualsim phone with A-market installed, preferably with Dutch menu. Seems like the A60 does the job. Only thing is the fairly poor camera (only 3MP). Other option: maybe the Gigabyte G1345 (?). I have my doubts about the V350, based on the things written on this forum. So I'm waiting for your experiences with the A60 !

Don't forget the FET T8888. I'm writing this message with it . Opera + Swype makes browsing pretty good. It's very stable, and after a few app updates, the apps don't crash either. Dutch language is supported including T9, but all Android phones have that I guess. Good luck choosing your new phone!

Just got a Lenovo A60 a few days ago for about £140.......

Nah don't bother - maybe wait for the Motorola's

Not ripping it to pieces, but there are a number of things I am amazed these flaws have slipped through....

Ringtones - same ringtone for both sims it seems, I have had quite a few dual sim chinafone's and nigh on all let me use different ringtones to notify if say a work sim or social sim was ringing. Also most allow me to select my own ringtone from SD card or mp3 track - The Lenovo A60 doesn't or I couldn't see how to select my own ringtone other than the ones listed - that was a bit of a surprise to me

Making a call - Jeez this one threw me a bit, you dialled the number, it starts to connect and on most other fones you hit the left button to end call. Nope that brings up a bluetooth or recording option, then you may find you back at home screen but still connected, damn how do you end the call ffs - press the on-screen call button again go back to call and tap on-screen button to end call.

Power button - what on earth were they thinking putting the tiny power button and usb socket so close to each other? This is just dumb, you have the smallest button set about 2mm from the usb port. The camera button is about 2.5 times the size of the on/off button yet this power button you will be using the most. The fone goes blank almost looks dead in standby - no response from any of the 3 main buttons, camera or volume buttons or screen looks as if the fone is off, so you press that tiny button at top and screen comes alive, slide to unlock and off yo go. Now that button is gonna get used a LOT so hope that tiny button can withstand a hell of lot of use and now try to press that button whilst you are charging it. Easy for a 5yr old but if you have big sausage fingers like me it could be fun trying to release fone from standby whilst charging it. One more thing is they could of used a Nokia style charger on this like so many chinafones - but my Blackberry charger seems to work ok.

Touchscreen - multipoint, yeah right !!! Ok got fone lets put some stuff on this - "Cut the Rope" goes on real easy from sd card, hmmmm runs well loads quite quick, but the touchscreen not quite as responsive as running it on an old ipod touch 2. Later find out that you can't cut rope using two fingers on left/right of screen at exact same time - only lets me use one finger at a time frantic drawing a quick tight " u " shape to slit two ropes at once - sort of

The Touchscreen works ok for general use though, but the more I use this A60 the more flaws I find - often silly flaws that I wouldn't have expected on such a "quality" chinafone

I can live with a pageful of strange apps/browsers/utils that are in Chinese and can't understand wtf they do or mean - just shove them all over to the extreme far right side pages out of the way. Would like to just delete loads of these default apps but some won't seem to delete.

No Custom or Dual Ringtones - that is a shock

Power button obviously if you have slim tiny fingers you might be ok,

Ending calls but don't navigate away from call screen or you will have "fun" trying end the call quickly

Basic touchscreen imho - you are not gonna really be playing many games on this, I am telling you you ain't coz the you can't multi-touch at same time - well unless my screen is iffy, can anyone else check other dual sim fone screens ?

It will take some getting used to and it was gonna replace the basic but brilliant Samsung B5722 fone but I think the 5722 will remain in daily use at least until Motorola get their new dual sim fones out

Lijep pozdrav

Default Lenovo A60 android market?

Hi!,

As this is my first post sorry if I will do/write something wrong but I have a problem which I need to solve. I bought Lenovo A60 from merimobiles.com while they told me that this prone after rooting will be able to go on android market. (I even called them on the phone and they confirmed that will work) I received my phone day before yesterday and try to do what they told me to do but it didn't work. Connection over usb didn't work. It says that drivers are missing. Has anyone had similar problem and mayb knows the solution? Please help.

Yeah, android market doesn't work over usb. You need an internet connection, either 3G of wifi.

You can use usb to get apps, but it's not really convenient: you need to download apps using Android market on your pc, than transfer them to your phone using usb and then install them on your phone.

Concerning your driver problem: modify the existing drivers. It sounds difficult, but all you need to do is modify a line in the drivers where you change the device id of the phone in the driver into your device id. Something that looks like this:
%SingleAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_05C6&PID_9026
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_05C6&PID_9026
here is some more info about finding the device id.

OK Guys, my input to the discussion around ViewSonic V350.

Have been playing (actively using) for the last 3-4 days. Using it as my work phone (about 2 hours a day on the phone, wifi, some data) and personal phone (for personal calls, data, sms)

I have been using an HTC Desire for almost an year now and have been very happy. Have rooted my Desire and have been enjoying the pleasure of having a rooted phone with custom ROMs.

Was looking for a dual SIM phone for a long time and finally decided to buy ViewSonic V350 from Amazon UK.

Had read the features of ViewSonic and was fairly aware of what the expect.

Now after using it for a few days with Orange UK and O2 UK sim card, my observations are as follows:

1 - Very basic TFT screen (was expected but a huge change for me as I was using a HTC Desire HD custom ROM with fantastic resolution)
2 - Very annonying power on/off button. Never managed to turn the phone on/off using one hand. The button is tiny and hardly can be reached using one hand. Not a good design, I must say
3 - The USB charger flap - dont understand why it is there

I would have been happy with the above, but then realised that phone is:

4. Dual SIM Standby - However, irrespective the SIM, the phone goes to voice message if data is being used. I tried using SIM1 and SIM2 for data and called from home phone to the other SIM and in all cases phone went to voice message. I really did not expect this to happen though it was clear that phone was Dual SIM Standby and not DUal SIM active.

5. Have had numerous lock-ups - I have not been able to answer calls. I see phone ringing but it just wont allow me answer. Many, many times the phone wont let me enter the PIN to log in.

I see the situation gets worse especially when the battery is low (<40%)

I sense low memory of the phone and possibly some hardware/design issue related to the management of Android 2.2 affects the functionality.

There are some other minor irritations as well - e.g. the wifi drops after some time and comes back on almost 30 seconds after the phone is on. My HTC desire always used to keep wifi connection on but then that meant battery consumption was poor.

I paid £250 on Amazon and I have to say I am disappointed. I would have lived with the first three points I mentioned above but then 4, 5 are so important that the phone basically defeats the purpose of having a 2-sim phone.

Phone is ready to go back to Amazon - my wait for an Android dual-SIM now gets longer.
