You must mean the Samsung GALAXY Note II and not Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos then
In terms of performance and screen quality the V987 outperforms the HTC by miles. It has Quad-core 1,2 GHz vs. Dual-Core 1,0 GHz and 5" 1280x720 IPS vs 4,3" 800 x 480...
You're right, the ZTE is V987 not V977.
Here are the chart of Samsung, ZTE and HTC, I put the HTC because I prefer Qualcomm option, is worst but I prefer. The Samsung are the most powerfull, but at this moment isn't on sale yet

Both phones are good, but ZTE has greater reputation as manufacturer. The screen on ZOPO are bigger, but in both the final resolution are the same, in these case the ZTE have bigger ppi resolution.
ZTE are quad core and ZOPO dual core, the ram are the same and I don't know if the processor difference is enought to select one or another.
Finally the price are quite different and could be mark your decission

Thanks a lot for your reply. You mean that screen of zte will be better because dpi is more? Performance will also be better because of quad core? Is the 5.7 inch phone easily accommodated in the pocket? Let me tell you that Grand duos is locally available here and the price for me will be the same as zte 987. Which one you will advise for me? Thanks again.

Yes, better dpi mean better.
About the processor is assumed that the quad core is better.
Finally the size is something very personal, I have a 4' smartphone and at this moment I think 5'7 is too big but It could be I get and use and after a time I change my opinion, I think the better option is get to a shop and compare a smartphone with 5' and another big one to decide.
What is the difference between Micromax A116 HD. And Zte V987? Both the phones have the same hardware but a lot of price difference... Secondly what is the official website of micromax?

On paper they are almost the same, and that will be the case for allot of phones. There always seems to be allot of companies producing phones on the MT65xx chipsets, that are almost alike.
They both have the chipset (and cpu) MT6589, but everything else might be different. That is the manufacturer and hereof quality of things like screen, GPS, WiFi, RAM, ROM, speaker, mic.... Also the materials and general build quality might differ.
There is also differences in the software, that being that some manufacturers deliverer more stable software, as some of the cheap once might be more unstable, you might have problems like WiFi not always connecting, quicker battery drain and other small bugs.
Personally I go for the quality brands like HTC, Huawai, ZTE, Lenovo and Samsung. However, I have ovned other phones from the cheaper brands, but always seems to find that the qualety was not that good.
If you go for the cheaper brands, I would suggest that you go for the "known" brands, simply because the quality might be a little better but most of all that there are more users of those phones and will probertly be a community around them, helping with ROM development, bug fixing etc.
Those cheaper brands would be THL, ZOPO, JiaYu, UMi and Newman. Also allot of people are happy with these phones.

Thanks EmilF for your good suggestions. I think, better I will buy Zte as you suggested.
One more question:
Is there any dedicated forum for zte v987? I searched a lot but couldn't find any results. Thanks in advance.
I don't know of any yet. If you can wait a month or so before you buy, maybe do that. Then there will be more MT6589 phones on the market, prices might go down and you will know a little more about how much support there will be for the specific phone. Also you will be able to get reviews and so.
If you order it now, you will be one of the first to get it, so you can't expect that there is allot of other users, support and so on.

Thanks a million EmilF for your continues support. I am planning to order after a month.
I have got my Lenovo P770 since friday and so far i am very satisfied with this phone, there is my small review after few days of using:
+ bought on etotalk.com with no problems at all with custom rom preinstalled and quick delivery
- only morelocale2 is used for czech translation
+ battery life is cool (does anyone have any tips to further prolong the battery life, this could be very usefull), I am on cca 60% battery life after one day of heavy use, but there is quickier discharge when below cca 10%-15%.
+ battery recharge is quick enough in comparison with my old Motorola XT532.
+ its quick, RAM and ROM is great, very well fabricated
+ no need reboot at the moment
+ Android 4.1.1 is very decent and stable
+ good support for 2 SIM, very intuitive for use
+ Google Play with no problems
- have to use Gemini Calendar so far (do not want to instal other ROM yet or is there some very cool ROM available?)
+ nice display
+ pictures from camera are good (but what do you want from your mobile phone)
I paid the 20% tax (cca 70 dollars). I heard its better with DHL delivery.
So one question remains, what app to use to prolong battery life with 3G data on. 2X battery is on my mind, but I had few bad experiences with that in the past (3G data was not always on when it pretended to be :-)).

Hi EmilF and all once again.
As I did further research, I found that these smartphones have dual standby sims which means that if one sim is busy, the other become inactive. My requirements is that I will be using one sim for data and the other for voice calls. Which means that if I engage one sim in data connection, my other voice sim will be inactive and I will not be able to get a call. So what is the solution for this? Should I buy a dual active sim phone?

That actually should not be a problem.
You don't need DSFA for that, as for most dual sim phones on the market both sims will remain available for calls and sms while using internet. Yes, most newer dual sim standby phones can use internet on one sim and still receive calls and sms on both sims. That is the case for all MT6575, MT6577 and MT6589 based phones, and some Qualcom phones as well (U8950D for sure).
For those phones, the only thing that will make a sim go offline, is a active call on the other sim.
The only thing that DSFA really adds, is that you get calls (like call waiting) then you talk on the other line. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice feature to never miss a call, but then again it is not that often that you receive calls on both lines, at the same time.
So for what you want, you don't need Dual Sim Full Active
If your reason will be only not lost connection using data don't be worried, the smartphone actually solve the problem.
If you want DSFA there are two options, U960 from ZTE or T528w from HTC.

Great day to all!
Hi!
Congratulations for your choice. I wish you luck for the device.
Now the question about the app to prolong your battery's life:
- I've tried a lot of app's and the best one for me (free of costs) is this one:
Forgot about the 3G. So these phones are all a no-go for me.
I've been looking for the FET T888 now, I'm getting tired of waiting for the V350. Does anyone got this phone already?
Has anyone got any experience with the website android-sale.com? Anyone bought something from this website?
DO NOT USE android-sale.com - they have had a pad which i returned and now will not send it back, refund or replace. if you look on other forums other people have had the same experience.
I have just ordered the ZTE V987, and should receive it next week...
I will update my impressions when I receive it. Root and CWM recovery (Chinese for now) should be done by the seller, but still no Google Apps. Hope I can get them to work myself, as other users are reporting to have them working...

I read somewhere that there is a screen problem. Some resellers have already returned to the company. Please write a review once you receive it. Thanks. Which reseller you ordered?

Yes, I have read that to, but the seller says that they will check before they ship. Not all users have that problem. But I will report on it when I get it.
Both my Canada and UK phones are old with aging batteries, so after failing to find one here in Canada bought an unlocked dual Sim, 512/2GB, dual core, 4" Hero H3000+ iPhone 5 clone two weeks ago from Hong Kong, via eBay, PayPal and my credit card to give triple protection. Took 10 days to arrive via registered airmail. No VAT (12%) or customs handling charges ($5) at this end.
Very satisfactory. Both Sims immediately active--but turned the UK one off to avoid the usual extortionate roaming charges. Stock Ice Cream Sandwich modified for dual Sim. No crap ware. No manufacturer or carrier mods, Phone not rooted but all in English with Google Play and all basic apps. Immediate USB access by Windows Explorer from my laptop--drag and drop all my music, pictures and Outlook contacts into either phone memory or SD card. All displayed/played without touching a setting.
Great value: $130 ($155 with second battery and shipping) then $25 for 32 GB SD card and $8 for a silicone case, 12 screen protectors and a car mount.
Build quality is good, screen excellent, GPS and WiFi fast, 1440 mAH battery life 24-36 hours (only one Sim on). Remarkably easy and trouble free experience--my first with a smart phone and with Android. Will provide specs and more details--a review--screen shots if requested. Later steps to buy Prepaid Sim cards for US and France. So far only downside is plastic back, no gyro, no compass and probably useless two-year Hong Kong warrantee (via post office).

I have ordered from hotmid.com
A quick update: My order have been canceled, as ZTE have requested all the V987 returned from the seller (first lot). I guess I will wait until a new "fixed" lot is available.
By the way, great service from hotmid.com. They contacted me about the problem, and gave me the option to get a phone from the first lot (that they had checked for the "return button problem"), wait for the phones to be exchange or cancel the order. They suggested cancellation, and I did. They made the PayPal refund while I was chatting with them - so great service and trustworthy seller
So I will wait to get it when there is a new fixed production lot avalible.

I think you better wait a little. There are so many good phones in the pipeline. You will be having more choices to select from. I am also waiting for April.
I just upgraded from a viewsonic v350 to a Samsung S duos.
The v350 served its purpose, but was limited by memory and more frequent crashes. I had been looking for a 4.5" maybe 5" screen device as replacement but all current devices seemed to have some draw back. Came close to getting either a zte v987 or samsung grand duos, but I was put off by the resolution of the samsung and the recall of the zte.
I couldnt wait any longer so went for the samsung s duos. So far its a big improvement over the viewsonic. I need the dual sim so as to have a call only work sim, and a good data plan personal sim. I dont play many (any) games, but do use the net, maps, travel apps, camera etc. So far the duos does everything and the battery life seems good compared to 1 day at best with the viewsonic. I also like the dual sim management feature.
I would have preffered a larger screen, slighty higher res camera and more ram on the s duos, but I think its a good compromise for the time being, if you want a branded phone. Until the S4 dual sim comes, and gets down to a reasonable price anyway.......

Yes, but then again there is always something good in the pipeline But defiantly wait as long as you can.
I already have a new ZTE V987 on its way from hotmid.com. They have got the phones exchanged by ZTE, so there should be no problems with it. The seller also informed me, that ZTE had told them that the problem was only with less than 2% of the phones. It is on its way with DHL, so I hope to get it in the start of this week.

Hi, all!
I finally bought the Samsung Galaxy S Duos, just before last Christmas.
For anyone interested:
So far, it has performed satisfactorily.I have been using it mostly for voice calls, SMS and data with two sim cards: one for my work and one personal and the dual-sim feature works smoothly.
I have yet to test it travelling abroad, to see how it behaves with a pay-as -you-go sim-card, but I hope to put it on that test soon.
It seems that the dual-sim offers (in Europe at least) haven't improved much after the S Duos. For the manufacturers it is a half-hearted effort, if one is to judge by the latest Grand Duos from Samsung.

Oh, and it might seem a small thing, but finally I can get a proper moulded case for my phone.
How and where from, did you get that?
I seem to have problems finding accessories for the S Duos, like screen
protection, e.t.c.

Amazon (UK). The one I got was supplied by 'Londonmagicstore'. Came with screen a protector, but I also got some extra screen protectors, also from Amazon.

Thank you very much for the detailed review. It helped a lot. What is the screen resolution and contrast as compared to galaxy s2, if you ever played with sgs2? Because at the moment I am using sgs2. But I think now I need a bigger screen.

The screen resolution is 800 x 480 on the S2 vs. 1280 x 720 on the V987, equaling DPI of 217 vs. 294. So the V987 has a better resolution, also when comparing DPI.
I have not compared to the Galaxy S2, but compared to the Galaxy S3 I would say that the screen is just as good, if not better. The colors is vivid and contrast is great, also the viewing angles are good.

Hi Everyone!
Just got my ZTE V987 last week. I was very happy with the phone, but yesterday stopped to log my calls to call log.
Is there some android setting to turn logging off or is it a bug?
I bought it from etotalk and it is with etotalk mod rom.
I did not tried factory reset, because I do not have a mood to reinstall and set up all apps. again. If there is a fix would be nice, if not will need to reset.

Sometimes many problems are solved by just restarting the phone. Did you do that?
Complety true, a company with a very bad service. They steel money from you!
Here is my story:
I will write my story here to prevent that other people will make the same mistake to buy at Etotalk like I did. You can read how Etotalk promises a lot and works very slow. I will try write my story like a drama story so maybe so you can read it like a book.
One day I decided to replace my DX900 for a new phone. After searching the internet I selected a couple of dual sim phones and I choose for the ThL V9 on recommendation of Bruno Martins. I know Bruno already a long time from developing firmware for the DX900. I was one of the alpha testers of his new firmware. Bruno said that he did also buy this device and I always liked his no nonsense firmware. On Sunday 29 April 2012 I made my order at Etotalk for the Gray ThL V9 and accessories like a spare battery for 302 dollar. I did feel very happy, my new phone was arriving.
On April 2 I got an email that the gray color was out of stock and I could change to Black or White. I choose to wait until the gray phone was in stock again because I liked that very much. One week later I asked again if my phone was send meanwhile. They said to me that the gray phone was not deliverable yet and I asked them to send the first gray phone to me that comes in their shop. I asked them why it was still on their website. They didn’t know. That’s typical for this company. I changed the color to black on May 11. Wow now it’s really coming. And then it took them until May 18 before the send my package. Ok, it’s really coming to Holland now and they say with DHL in 3 to 7 days. On May 21 so in 3 days my package arrives at my door but my girlfriend can’t receive it without paying money at the door. The package goes to DHL in Eindhoven and I can collect it there. On May 25 I went there and the extra money was for the import tax, only 25 euro so what was expected. The lady of DHL said that the package was very damaged and asked me what was inside. A phone from China I said. The Package that was used was from another brand and too small for this phone. I opened the box at DHL and the phone was not damaged. Yes, I had received my phone.
After a couple of calls people started complaining about the low volume of my phone. They first said that the connection was bad but after the 3th person in on day said that to me I knew, the microphone is bad. I still used the phone and was happy with the performance of the phone. App’s worked good. After a couple of weeks dust started to enter the phone between the screen layers. It was not visible with normal light but very visible with sunlight. According to Bruno this was a common problem of this phone. Another problem started, when the phone gets a small bump it switches off. Only holding the power button for a long time restarted the phone again. Meanwhile Bruno had already send back his ThL V9 because it didn’t work anymore. After 8 weeks of using the phone the dust below the screen was very much and also with normal light it was very annoying. I decided to send my phone back to the Etotalk to replace this bad phone with a good working one.
Here the real story starts, I send an email on July 18 to Jeremy@etotalk.com to explain the problems and ask for an solution. I added a video LINKso he can see the problem of the dust and the switching off after a small bump. He didn’t respond… So I sended an email to Etotalk.cs@etotalk.com to explain all problems. King replied after 2 days with taking my phone to the local repairshop to remove the dust and going into the engineering mode to increase the volume. Nothing about the biggest problem the switching off after a bump. I replied again the same day and 3 days later they replied again to send my phone to Etotalk. The time they replied I was on holiday for 4 weeks. On September 3 I did send the package to a person in China Zhang Le Jun, not the company Etotalk on their request. The costs for sending where about 35 dollar and the delivery time about 10 days. This was the last time I did see the phone this year…
After 1 month hearing nothing I did send an email to ask if they did receive my package. According to the track and trace it is still not delivered. On October 16 I did receive a email that they did receive the phone from their factory. They day after they send me the good news that the phone was repaired and the bad news that I had to pay 25 dollar. W.T.F.? They would send me a paypal bill to pay the 25 dollar for my convenience. They said they had to pay tax for this phone when entering China. I said that it’s their responsibility and not mine. They said if I would not pay they would not send my phone to Holland. After explaining to them that I did already pay the transportation fees like in their terms and conditions. After a lot of emails they decreased it to 20 and then to 15 dollar on November 23. Before I would pay I agreed with Ella from Etotalk that if one of the problems would not be repaired the Etotalk would pay the costs of transportation and all the time that the phone is not in Holland the warranty period will be extended. I did pay on December 3 and they confirmed that they would send my phone with Singapour post on December 7.
On December 17 the package arrived Holland but the customs hold the package because I have to pay tax again. I send them the prove of the tax paid the first time. On February 8 I asked Etotalk to start an investigation where my phone was. They said they could not do that. On February 9 my phone arrived again. I started using it and the dust was gone. Then I took it to work for the first day and it switched off a couple of time because of a small bump. So still not solved. Also people started complaining again about a bad connection, so still the microphone was not repaired.
On February 18 I send an email to Etotalk to explain that the problems are still in the phone. I asked them to arrange the transportation. Like the normal way of communication for Etotalk they didn’t respond. On March 8 I did send an official letter of defect to terminate the contract that we have and that they can pay the full amount of all costs of 415 dollar to my paypal account. Then they started asking for phones again so I made a new movie with the problem of the small bump switching off the phone. www.steefenerik.nl/ThLV9problems17march2013.mp4Then they didn’t send any answer anymore because they are performing very bad. So I send emails on March 17 en 25 and finally got an reply on March 30 from Miu that my phone has a hardware problem and that I have to send it back to China. I did send them a paypal bill for the transportation costs. On April 10 and 20 I did send an reminder why they did not pay the bill yet. I’m still waiting.
So it’s better to go to other companies to buy a phone like Dealextreme. They have much better service and do what they promise. Etotalk is a company who only wants to steel as many money as possible from all customers.
