I am also on board for a custom ROM. I am stuck with this phone until the end of next year. When I bought the phone from VZ, it was this or the Droid for an android os. I knew how Moto supported the Droid, and was under the impression the same support would be extended to the Devour. This however has proved to not be the case. The Devour has been hopscotched by the newer Droid X and soon to be Droid 2.

Hello all,

I have been trying to get help from Cyanogen and others to help me in getting CyanogenMod on the Devour.

I know the basics of what needs to be done to get a build made for the Devour, but not how to execute them (device branch, drivers, etc). I started here: Motorola Devour - CyanogenMod Forum, as well as e-mailing Cyanogen directly (only yesterday), but still haven't had a reply. Maybe if you add posts to this thread, it'll get more interest and the help I need.

I have tried the IRC channel, but do not have the time to sit and wait for a reply, so e-mail is the best option for me.

Let me know if you guys have more information or better luck.

Thanks,

Tithefug

if we can get the ball rolling on that forum the world would be a much better place, this device has already been forgotten by motorola and verizon. I went in this morning to get a replacement as mine will no longer hold a charge. verizon said they dont have any in stock within a 100 mile radius. the hacker community is the only way to bring this phone back to life.

Also maybe a good idea would be to see if clockwork could get its Rom manager to work with the devour that would let many new roms work on this hot momma <3

I got rid of my devour after too many problems and no support its a nice looking phone with a good bit of potential I really would like to see a rom for it and I'm willing to help don't know a whole lot about starting a rom from scratch but I rommed my droid relatively easy and have rooted a few friends devours. I think the major problem is flashing a custom recovery, I don't think clockworkmods recovery. Is compatible I will be doing some research about this though now that you have perked my interest

I recently got my Devour and it has quickly turned into a very slow phone and I'm so excited to see that other people want this as much as I do!

Cool Itching for a Devour ROM

I'll register over at CyanoGen as well, but I'm willing to try out ROMs and help how I can. I love everything about the Devour hardware except the camera, and am quite miffed at Moto for abandoning it!
