Default Question on GB update.zip

Can this file:
Quote:
D2 GB Update
Download (This is a Dropbox link, as I wasn't able to find another public link. Therefore, be easy.)
simply be applied over a rooted froyo D2 through bootstrap recovery?

Its best to sbf to froyo or stay stock then update the gb ota then root with petes root tools. Rooting froyo to gb update could cause issues. If you need more help let me know.

Thanks. So the update.zip file isn't stable? I'm trying to get my wife's phone up to GB with the least amount of pain or disruption.

What issues in particular? I've been searching this forum and I can't find any threads in particular on that update.zip file...

its only a risk if you modify the files when you have a rooted froyo rom like remove system apps. best route to take is sbf >update ota > root with petes root tools > d2 bootstrap > wipe /data /cache dalvik cache battery stats> flash custom rom if applicable or use stock > reboot

NOTE: If you are using stock, you do not need to wipe only for custom roms. not wiping causes issues with the apps and problems start to occur.

its stable or wouldnt have been released like that but since an official ota is out and doesnt impair and different than the leak, its better to follow that pattern.

Ok. I think I'm going to try the update route, since all I removed was bloat.

Nandroid backup first, of course!

Slogan: backup: its a life option! Most people do remove bloat. But its better to be safe than sorry.
