Just picked up a droid 2 and the call volume is unacceptably low. Too low to be useful as a phone. There are many threads on various forums with people complaining about this but no real solutions. I've done a hard reset, deleted cache, and battery pulls with no improvement.

Is there an app that allows increasing volume past 100%? How about rooting and trying a different rom or kernal?

It seems if this is a common problem there has to be a solution somewhere.

I had the same issue with this phone. I flashed the MIUI galnet ICS rom posted at rootswiki earlier this month. The rom has some nice sound features and offers tools that have fixed the issue for me.

I flashed cm7, liberty 3 and OMFGB before the miui port and see no reason to go back to the others. The only downside I have found is you get odd force closes ocassionally with the sound program that don't seem to change the volume or lock up the phone.. it just flashed the "not responding" alert.. not sure what that is about.

Also with the built in boot menu you can set cpu governers. I am running conservative govener for general use but can easilly switch between about 10 others if need be.. really helps with battery life

I flashed it over liberty with no problem. Make sure you are on a gb kernal.. which can be downloaded from your carrier in most cases.
