Default Bluetooth Paired but NOT Connected

All of a sudden last week my Droid 2 Global stopped automatically connecting to Bluetooth headsets and speakers/mics it is paired with already when I turn Bluetooth on. I have received no updates nor have I damaged the phone in any way (for example: by dropping it, banging it, etc.).

For me to be able to connect the Bluetooth devices mentioned above, I have to unpair the devices AND then take the battery out of the phone for at least 10 seconds.

Does anybody have an idea on why this started happening?

and/or

Do you know of a fix?
