Default Help! Texting just stops!

I have a Droid 2. Im sorry if someone already answered this question in another thread but I am frustrated. I have had my phone just stop letting me text. I went to a Verizon store before and the employee showed me how to go to applications and clear the buffer text? Or cache for texts. He said I would need to do that after updates or if it started to do that. Can anyone help me get there? Thank you for your time!
