Default How to create direct dial and direct text shortcuts

Credit goes to Xliderider from the X forum.

First, download Folder Organizer Lite.

Next, long press the homescreen and select Shortcut, Folder Organizer Item, Direct Call, choose from your contact list.

For the Direct Text using Folder Organizer Lite again. Long press the homescreen (or setup in Launcher Pro Dock) and select Shortcut, Folder Organizer Item, Direct Text, choose from your contact list.

Nice...I never use these, but was surprised to find them missing from the D2. I'm sure folks will find this useful.

I just used it for my wife. I had a direct dial on my home screen. Still dont understand why they would do away with this feature.

This works like a charm though

never mind, I just got signal again & d/l'ed Folder Organizer Lite... it does seem to save one step fm what I prev posted w/direct dial... it is great, except when I call up a list of my contacts, there seems to be like triple of each one...

Wish FO Lt. would have instructions inside... I have to play w/this some more...

thanks for bringing this to my attention.

The multiple contacts is a seperate problem. There is a thread somewhere that talks about it, but I'm on my phone right now so I can't search for it(easily).

I tried FolderOrganizer, and it works well. (thanx cableguynoe and Xliderider)

By accident I discovered that an app I have on my tablet *also* works well, with additional functionality.

Elixir (free on Market) is a good "current device info" app, and it has an add-on called Elixir Personal Add-on. Personal add-on will allow you to add widgets that will give you direct dial, or direct text, or direct "choose how you want to communicate with the contact," as well as a number of useful system toggles and so on.

And talking about widgets, Elixir adds 19 of them! BUT, I found a doodad on XDA, AppWidgetPicker, that condenses the widget popup so that you are told there are 19 widget in the main popup rather than being shown. It's kinda slick. And free. Needs a rooted device tho, and works with my stock rooted D2G.

Anyhow, I was not trying to hijack the thread, so, see ya.
