Talking Disabling background data increases battery life (but leaves push email on)

I posted the following in the Milestone forum, but it should apply equally to the Droid, Droid 2 and Milestone 2.

I increased the battery life substantially by disabling background data, but leaving push email (imap idle with k9) on:

I get 2 days of battery life disabling backgr data (but with push email on)

Hope it's useful

Yup, this is one of the best ways to significantly increase your battery life. When you know you're not going to be using your phone for much of anything, turn off the background sync. When you need it, turn it back on. I'm able to get two full days of normal use on my D2 doing this.
