I need opinions or fact, which is better, steel droid 4.5 , mav rom 3.0 or dark droid. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!
I actually haven't tried any of those. But I can tell you that Liberty 3 is great. So you should add that to the list of roms you're considering.
I've been using Liberty since I had my D2, and don't have any complaints. So I haven't felt a need to try any other rom.
i forgot to add liberty , just cause they havent really updated anything and its been out for so long, but yeah liberty is good..am running steel droid right now , great rom! i tried dark it was allright wasnt feeling it though...mav is cool, but wasnt happy with it !
Just got a d3 coming from a d2g which had barely any rom support compared to my og droid. I need something close to liquids rom or like project elite on the og with plenty of customizations and tweaks but also stability. I hate to sound like im complaining but most of these roms seem like basic stock/blurless roms where is all the goodness?? I thought id fall in love with liberty but the power notification toggle didn't allow u to choose which buttons you want or their positions which is a feature my og had since froyo.
Well, Liberty is a final build and won't be seeing any future dev support. Who knows what the community may do for it though. One problem between the D1 and D3 is the unlocked vs. locked bootloader. (OG has unlocked BL IIRC) Here, we can't do much other than Blur roms with a different launcher. If you want Cyanogen Mod, you'll lose your camera as both CM7 and CM9 don't have camera support, but CM9 is close and IDT CM7 is seeing much support. Apparently there is some MIUI in the works, but it's still pre-alpha if not paused so...your options are limited. If you go look on DF, there are some more, lesser known ROMs posted.

me personally im running steel droid 4.5 , try them out see what you like, make back ups , so u dnt have to keep losing set ups , but you do have to wipe data n davlic when u do the roms to get best results....you wanna try something try steel droid if you want
Right now, I'm trying out SD 4.5. I love Liberty's battery life, but the unstable camcorder turned me off. I liked Mav3, but it didn't have the battery life or customization of Liberty. The new system 5.7.902 seemed nice and quick though. I'll toss in my 2 cents on SD 4.5 tomorrow maybe. I need to wipe battery stats and see how it does with standby. I wipe from full charge and then let it sit over night to see how much it uses. Mav3 used about 1% an hour just sitting there. I forget about Liberty, but I'd assume the same.
EDIT: Well, for standby, SD 4.5 used 4% in 5.5 hours of standby, Mav3 used 5% in 6, and Liberty was 4% in 6.

As I posted in another thread, I'm perfectly happy with Steel Droid 4.5. My battery life has been phenomenal and I have not seen one "gotchya" on this rom. BT works fine. Apps that ran like crap before (PowerAMP, etc.) now are smooth as silk, and the lag is gone. Even Go Launcher that comes with it is pretty cool. Its made this phone what it should have been out of the gate. My only hope is that CM supports this device for ICS since it doesn't sound like MotoCrudola is going to be pushing ICS for the D3. That alone has me furious. The only way I'll ever have another Motorola device again is if it is a Nexus device. I'm done with these bozos.

After having a DX and now D3, I have made a promise to myself to avoid Moto like the plague.
Moto's hardware makes me stick around for the crap just like a woman with a nice body.... cm9 will definitely be on the d3 it's just a matter of getting the camera to work it runs fine on my phone. Im loving sd 4.5 I can't lie I just wish I could control which buttons were in the toggle widget so I could control my music but other than that I'm running safestrap and switching between sd and cm9 a6
yeah im waiting for ics/cm9 to be completed to jump on boat alpha 5 worked best for me i didnt go to alpha 6...but steel droid im on it right now and so far its been the best....but i will be avoiding the motorola boat after i see something worth gettin again..
Ruined it how the camera doesn't even work on that build? It actually stopped working after flashed to another rom?
yeah flashed back to steel droid, wiped a bunch of times, tried atrix camera, factory reset, and even sbf to stock rom and was getting "camera failed to initialize" message whenever i tried the front facing camera...

No one should worry since this phone isn't even a year old yet! Everyone is still under warranty as long as you can hide the fact that you flashed a ROM, rooted, etc. I don't think I've run ICS since A4, but I went to check my FF cam just now and it works. You noting that it broke it scared me.
2 things were keeping me from that ROM. I need the camera and bluetooth to work; I use both a lot. Now that the camera is working I'm getting antsy, but I don't know that it really is any better than Gingerbread.
Worth upgrading to? Why? I don't want to switch just because it's newer, I'm asking if it's better. I'm still using Liberty ROM today.

Personally im using Bootstrap, with stock rooted, and on the safe system, im using liberty ROM. By far the best, i've tried Eclipse, AOKP, CM9. Liberty just runs perfect, the fact that it comes with ROM toolbox is a plus. And i love that i have an FM radio app that works

If you have a safe system, you must be using safestrap and not bootstrap. I will say that I love Liberty3 2.0 myself, but it had unusually high cell standby and phone idle usage even after doing the recommended framework patching. I'm using Maverick 4 now with Nemus Launcher and I love it.
I went to bed at midnight with 86% battery, woke up at 630 with 83%. I went all day with it and I'm at 37% now. It's reading just shy of 21 hours on battery, granted 6.5 were while I was asleep.

Simple typing error, actually its the tweaked safestrap, i got it on DF, i like the look and feel compared to the original safestrap. 1.08f feels like a better option in my opinion

IIRC, every build of tweaked SS has had some type of bug. I think f may be the one where when you go to install a nand backup over a different system, you get a mismatch error in /systemorig and must reflash the ROM which the nand is based on before you can restore the nand. I have avoided the tweaked builds because they are yet to function entirely as described. Not to detract from his efforts and contributions, but I would rather run stock, rooted 5.7.906 on my safe (with stock SS) and just boot into my non-safe every time so that I can freely flash/backup/restore without having to worry about any potential bugs.
