The iPad's screen is finger print resistant. If fingerprints is what you mean by drawing table...

Yeah, but unfortunately, the few flaws that it has completely cripple the device. You have to note that this is being marketed as a potential computer replacement and it's completely locked down! I would pick up one of these things in a heartbeat if it ran Mac OS X (or better, if it could run Linux or Windows, officially or otherwise), but unfortunately, all it is right now is a big iPod Touch.
Lots of people have posted about how they believe Apple is trying to introduce the draconian lockdown policies in iPhone OS on regular desktops. While I don't think it's going to go THAT far, it's true that a mobile internet device like this should be more open.
I definitely think it's a beautiful device with a nice multi-touch screen and a sleek form factor, but I'm just saying, I'll wait until some other company makes a clone of it with a real OS.
That upcoming Chrome OS sounds like it would be nice on one of these keyboardless tablets.

In the meantime, I can definitely see the value of having an iPad around the house to read newspapers, magazines and books with, keep up with emails and tweets and surf the web, as well as using some of the many useful iPhone apps. And having a big(ger) screen you could use a stylus directly on rather than having to use a Wacom tablet parked other than where you're looking would be a *huge* improvement for artists.
It's too big to carry around as a phone, and it doesn't have an OS tough enough to run a lot of business applications. But I think the iPad is going to usher in a new type of information appliance that will become more ubiquitous in the years to come.

Yeah, that new model with all the nice shiny features will probably come out just as soon as everyone's bought the first-gen and their return policy just ended.
And yeah, I can see the value of the IDEA of the iPad, but unfortunately I still don't think it would work for many of those applications. Surfing the web isn't going to be good at all without Flash support. It might be nice as a cheap alternative to a Cintiq tablet, but as it's running the iPhone OS, it won't be able to run a suitable suite of apps for artists.
I'm looking forward to a device like the iPad; a keyboardless tablet that'll have some sort of quick-boot OS based on Linux. This will allow users to run full-fledged applications without restriction. Hmm, anyone dreaming of an AndroidPad as much as I am?
Even something running ChromeOS, as I said before, would be nice. Bootup in under 10 seconds, cloud-based storage (which would probably require a 3G card in the device, or tethering from our Droids, of course!), what's not to love about the idea?
Man there's an awful lot of hate floating around here. All I meant was that the iPad is a capacitive device. It's going to sell like hotcakes, just like every other Apple device in the last ten years. That's going to create a lot of accessories, like the stylus, that we'll be able to use with our phones.

Sorry if you thought I was trying to jump down your throat about this. If that's the impression I gave you, I apologize. I was just giving my own opinion about the device like other people have. And yeah, it's probably going to result in more peripherals for us too, after all, most of those capacitive styli ARE specifically marketed as "iPhone stylus". It doesn't mean I'll like the device any more for that, but hey, what am I gonna do about that? Nothing.
Enjoy the technology while we can, GOD is gonna be wiping his Earth clean of this vile human race very soon, so don't hate, just enjoy it while we can!
I say bring on the webOS tablet! That's gonna blow the iPad out of the water. And to stay on topic, I probably will get on and try out a stylus for art programs.
