Default LOLZ...Well my love affair has ended

Hey guysss

Well my sprint & Htc love affair has ended. Sadly....

I spent 4 hours yesterday without voice ability(i could text fine and browse fine) just not receive calls....

I called Sprint twice and spent 2 hours on the phone with them(to be "disconnected" and told to do a factory reset)

Question of the day....Why and How would a factory reset for my phone do anything to fix the signal? That's more of a hardware thing aka HTC thing and the signal is a software/sprint thing....

Anyway, after spending time with the rude customer service...My friend just ordered a droid but hates the droid and is just getting it because they have an env touch....Well, we decided to switch phones so now we are waiting on her droid to come via fedex.

I'm going to take her droid and she can suffer with my evo(the voice thing happened twice yesterday)

So could anybody help me root again lol. I remember had a little difficulty when i rooted my droid beforehand BUT i'm hoping that it might be a bit easier for me.

Thanks in advance guysss

Carmen

With all due respect ... Why are you posting a question about your HTC Evo in the Motorola DROID forum? And why are you asking for rooting help when there's an "All Things Root" sub-forum? With almost 900 posts, surely you have to know this.

with all due respect, i stated that i was switching back to the droid and want help with root for the droid...

I don't recall(did a double check) asking a question for my Evo
1)Who here in the droid forum could help me with my Evo anyway
2)It was mainly explaining why i was coming BACK to the droid(i see threads like this all the time...so dont see any harm in it

But thanks for that lol

Anywho, i did make a mistake posting that i realized AFTER i posted that i meant to post in the root section(i am only human) instead of in the direct droid forum so i do apologize if me posting here aggravated you(or anyone else who may read this)

Thanks

No aggravation Carmen. I can look at your picture allllllll day. My bad for missing your point about exchanging your Evo. (I can only blame that avatar of yours!) And I was really just trying to help. Questions regarding root are better served in the 'other' forum.

lol haha oh dear

I'm sorry if i had an attitude(i just realized my last post was WAY ABOVE MY usual sarcasm)
I'm just aggravated with Sprint....I swear, i am a smart girl. But made a dumb decision.

I always youtube videos of whatever phone i am considering getting. I do it with every single phone to see how it works so i can tell if i will like it.

I did my research on Sprint and heard while their plans are great(and they are so much better than verizon) that they have horrible customer service...lol saw this and was concerned but the evo drew me in lol

I regret the decision now but i'm so glad i can come back to verizon and to the droid forums(you guys are sweethearts)

But i wonder why fedex isn't here yet. they were supposed to be here by 12

Well now that you are back on Verizon, (if you really liked the Evo) at least you'll have the Droid X for a good substitute in the next month or so . I'm thinking about selling my Droid toward one or the Droid 2.

As for rooting, yeah, check out the "all things root" subforum for all the info you need.

Hey, I too, am a girl, though my writing stlye is, as one would expect with my being a different person, entirely unlike Carmen's. Her question, however it perfectly valid, no matter the way Carmen phrased it.

So, while you are waiting for your Droid (if it's not yett there) you might want to see if you've got RSDLite on your computer still and if you've still got all the relevant drivers and such. It also might be useful to check and see if you've got an updated version of the android sdk.

1. Use RSD Lite to flash ESE81SPRecovery sbf file (can be found in the root guides somewhere, although I've heard some links are dead).
2. Put a rooted ROM .zip file on sdcard renamed to update.zip.
3. Flash the update.zip.
4. You are now rooted.

Out of curiosity, when you couldn't send or receive voice on your EVO, did your phone register you having any bars of reception?

Also I noticed you dismissed the Droid X saying it was too big. It's only very slightly larger than the EVO. Was the EVO too big as well?

Not to take anything away from the newer/soon to come models, but you do know how much butt the Droid kicks, right?....

It may very well be last years model, but Droids are still rocking Android hard like it's 2011.

Carmen
Regarding your question on why a factory reset can help with the signal, a co-worker of mine had a problem where he could never receive incoming calls, they would just go straight to voicemail after one ring on the caller's end, and no notification on his end. He would just get notification of a missed call a little bit after the person was sent to voicemail (where they also could not leave a message), but he could call out, and send and receive texts fine. Everything that customer service did on their end was unable to fix it, such as resetting his voicemail, ringback tone, account update, etc. However, doing a factory data reset on his phone fixed it.

It seems it has something to do with the cache on his phone, though manually clearing the cache through running applications did not do the trick. His phone worked fine only after the factory data reset, though he got the bug again a month later. I made sure he had everything backed up and restored after he did the reset so nothing was lost, but it is a very odd bug that has been documented on all major carriers for several years, with almost no commonality among the people it affects. Factory data reset may seem odd, but it works sometimes without a clear reason why.
