Good luck with that hope you land yourself a Droid. Finally fixed mine, had to flash FRG22D update and then re-root. All is fine now, when I tried your 1.0.8(at least I think not sure...) I would get to the command prompt and toward the end it would have problems with some rageagaienstthecage stuff. I just rooted it the normal way because I wanted my backups back.

Default fine print important

64 bit windows 7 professional

Droid 2.2 FRG22D

worked on the THIRD try, but only AFTER I noticed a comment in this thread, keep the focus on the CMD and did so. Up to that point it errored out constantly.

Keep your mouse on the task at hand.

Glad to hear you guys are rooting well! Which versions are you using? I'm trying to push people onto the new 2.05 as much as possible, it seems really stable compared to the other versions

Default Rooted Succcessfully with 1.8rA

I was able to Root using 1.8rA. I had to run Soup or Root 3 times to finally get it to work. I don't know if this mattered or not, but on the first 2 tries I saw that the Droid was getting re-mounted after the reboot but before the process was complete. I forgot I had an auto mount app on the Droid. On the 3rd and successful attempt, I had disabled the auto mount. I was thinking this may have the problem, but I'm not sure.
Thanks for your work.

First off, RDK you are pretty awesome!

I have tried 4 times to no avail, 5th time worked. First try was with 1.8rA. I don't remember the error, sorry. Next 3 tries were with the 2.04Beta and every one had the error "The process adb.exe not found." During the 5th attempt I got the same error on the first command, so I pushed the software in the background and started installing the android SDK. After awhile the beta hijacked the android sdk updater causing it to crash, but when my phone rebooted it had root! go figure.

System: Win 7 x64, Moto software already installed, PDAnet installed but not running, Droid 2.2 FRG22.

Note: It is not deleting the C:\souproot folder upon completion.

Keep up the good work!

Tried using 2.06 beta, but the app seemed to hang. I closed it (using the notification area "Exit" option), then tried 1.8rA. Worked like a charm.

Great job RDKamikaze!

Edit: Donated. I suggest everyone else donate too!

Ok--so I've finally decided to take the plung!! I downloaded 2.06 beta and ran it. How do I know if it worked? I got a message at the end that said "If you don't see Superuser in your app drawer try running soup or root again." Well, I see Superuser in the app drawer, but I had it there before I did this.

Other then that I think it worked. Any suggestions...

:-edit-: I am ROOTED!! WOOHOO....

Default Soup or Root Question

I followed the instructions to the 2.06 and nothing happened. I tried it several times. It ended by saying if super user permissions was not in the app tray to try again. When it says that does it mean the program is done and does the phone re-boot by itself? Mine never did and I restarted myself. Any advice for me? Thanks

No. But I have seen alot of people with a Droid X have success rooting them with this method here:

Multiple phones - Root them, unroot them - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

good luck

Sorry about 2.06 not having any sort of status bars or anything guys, I still have yet to figure out how to implement that with the new way of doing things. Next release should have a status bar or something, but when it "hangs" it's actually doing something, just sit tight for about 3 minutes until it completes!

P.S. Thanks to all those who have been donating, you rock my socks!!!

Thanks for your work.
I ran into the same problem last night running 2.04. I thought I was rooted, but when I opened Titanium Backup, it said I was not rooted. Re-ran this afternoon after turning off Auto Mount and worked like a charm!!

Now I am running a backup and will move on to other fun stuff.

Thanks so much for the process.

Awesome program. Worked like a charm. I used 2.0.6 but I also had to manually install the drivers from the original post. Install drivers from within the program didn't work for me. Small little thing but awesome nonetheless! Thanks!

Omigosh omigosh omigosh I make viruses....not!!! Every time I run my program to even test on my computer, Kaspersky says it's a potential threat, NOT a virus.

The program is gaining access into the phone to do things that the computer (and A/V) traditionally do not do. What would you do if someone you didn't know came to your door saying they were going to work on your car? Potential threat?

If it was a virus, someone would have said something by now over 10,000 views (and hundreds of runs) after this was released

I maybe a missing something here. I've read this forum and a couple others trying to make sure I do this right and I think I still failed. I used 2.06 and that worked. But when I went to use RSD Light to install SPRecovery, I bricked my phone. Am I doing something wrong here? Any help would be great. Thanks!!!

If it makes you feel any better, I use an https://www.ironkey.com/ and every time I open the secure connections (read the website to understand if you have to), I get a potential thread warning. It is because it is using a secured, encrypted proxy, onion router to connect to the web. This activity throws up a red flag because some proxies are not exactly secure.

So, this is expected from time to time and I wouldn't worry about it too much for this program.

1. I recommend using ROM Manager (it's free) from the marketplace to install ClockworkMod Recovery or SPRecovery (it's at the bottom in the app) because it won't mess up.
2. Did you really brick your phone or you just think you bricked it? As long as you can get back to the bootloader menu, you never bricked your phone.
3. If you don't want to hassle with it, I'll totally buy it from you!!! I need a new Droid!
4. I'm glad to hear you rooted fine, but sorry to hear RSD Lite messed up.

I have tried many one click rooting solutions on a motorola droid for cellcom with no success! I have on the other hand, found a simpler way to root the phone. It involves using rsdlite and flashing sprecovery to the phone, then a simple update.zip package will unlock it. This will work on pretty much any motorola phone running android regardless of the version. Not sure about this working on Droid X though. If you are interested in links to this package, lemme know and i'll post them. Thanks

Good website. I must have missed trickdroid in my Odyssey. RDKamikaze's method works very well. I think I made my mistake when trying to add SPRecovery.

Reboot your Droid by pulling the battery and letting it sit for a minute. That's random how it got into bootloader, it shouldn't have done that. Try 2.04 or 2.05 Extreme Beta (around the thread or my blog) that should do it

2.04 didn't work but 2.05 did. When 2.05 got finished it was stuck in a boot loop so I pulled the battery started the phone back and I now have the super user icon in my applications list. So it looks like my phone is rooted right?
Thanks for your help. I donate some next pay day.

No, you do not need to run this once you have gained root, unless you lose root. In other words, you run this program once (or a few times depending on how many times it takes you to gain root). If you ever flash an .sbf file (to get rid of root), then you would have to run this again to gain root again.

You do not need to run this every time the program is update.

Thanks for all the awesome comments so far guys!! I have been testing on various droids now to see why 2.06 doesn't work for everyone but I haven't reached a solid conclusion other than the Milestone (A854) won't work with 2.06 but will with 1.8rA.

Enjoy and don't forget to donate if you liked Soup or Root!!

Default ok... I must be stupid!

I run "soup or root" and the command window appears the disappears in a heartbeat. I click "root" and nothing happens... I find the icon in the system tray and it says "script paused." I can find no way to un-pause it!

What am I doing wrong????

@RevJonG - Which version are you running? You usually have to be patient and just wait about 3-5 minutes for it to do its thing. Do you have USB Debugging enabled on your Droid? Do you have the moto drivers installed? Did you follow the instructions?

Using Vista, and 2.06 beta,
debugging is on
drivers are installed

When the "done" window pops up, will the Droid reboot on it's own, or do it unplug it and reboot myself? I've waited about 5 minutes after hitting ok and it won't reboot, and when I reboot it manually, it doesn't seem to work, as I don't see the superuser app on the phone. Help?

Also, the downloaded file says 2.06 beta, but the program window says 2.04. is there a problem with the link i used (used both the one on this page and the OP)? And on the 1.81 I get the "not found" problem in the .exe program when I try to open it, and it makes my computer randomly open programs if I let it hang for a few minutes.

Being patient did the trick... I did not get a status bar or any indication it was working. When I just "walked away" and left it alone it finished

Glad to hear it worked guys and thanks for the donations, you rock!!!

@AMTrombley0924 - I noticed that as I tried rooting a friend's droid, I totally goofed up by using the wrong engine with the newer unpacking design, oops!! I'm going to fix that when I get some time this week (midterms at school) and release 2.07 Beta soon!! I was wondering why 2.06 wasn't working for so many people... lol!

Just rooted my Droid for the first time yesterday using Soup or Root. Just wanted to give a big thanks to RDKamikaze for all the hard work. This program makes the whole process super easy.

OK, see if anyone can help me out.

Debugging on - Check
Newest Drivers - Check

When i start up the newest beta...if flashes the command window for about 3 seconds and then your program starts. I Clicked Root button, then click the OK for the warning/info box...thennnn nothing.

One thing to know is that I am on a work computer so I am not sure if something on it is blocking the program from working.

Thanks

Hey, i just rooted my Droid 2 with this, and it went through just fine. the only thing i can find not working at the moment is that when i go to view the statistics of my battery life i get an error message stating the following:

"The application Settings (process.com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"

Can anyone help me out here?
Thanks.

Thumbs down Plz dont be stupid!

Hi Guys

In this App there is a Backdoor build in.

The Author says,, No Virus". WAHT?? And why popup Kaspersky this as a Trojan???

Just because he says there is no virus in it, you believe him the same.

There have been other alleged and something that in hindsight it was TROJANS!

In other Linux forum of this virus as dangerous and is known to exploit!

So tell all that crap even non-it would not be a virus!

Too bad that here a Trojan is distributed in the belief he was not dangerous!

Plz dont trust this. Its a backdoor exploit!
