I recently flashed Bugless Beast. I wanted to install one of the Chevy No. 1 kernels. I'm just wondering which one would work best. I flashed 1.0g lowu. I'm not totally clear what is what; however, that kernel didn't work. If someone could please explain what the difference is between all of the kernels I would greatly appreciate it. Also which voltage would be best and what order I should test them out in to see what works best with my phone.. thank you in advance for all your help

I've tried different kernels with Pete's ROMs and in my experience Slayher's work best.

Kernels are not cookie cutter. The one you used may work fine for someone else but not at all for you. A lot of it depends on what kind of voltage your chips need hence standard, low, and ultra-low voltage kernels. Some kernels will make your phone run hot while others will be cool.

That said it may be that your phone doesn't like chevys kernels and would work with slayher or p3 kernels. Or even a different voltage level of chevys. Also it depends on how fast you clock it. Just because some droids are fine at 1.2 doesn't mean everyone can go at that speed.

Bugless Beast will work with any of the standard kernels (chevys, slayher, P3, or raidzero). Try different ones and you should find one that works. Also stay at 1.0ghz and when you find a kernel that works well then try to increase to higher clock speeds if you so desire.

What voltage should I try first lowv, medv, or lowu? The voltage is what I'm confused about.. do I start with lowu and then go to lowv then medv? Or do I start with medv and vice versa? Or does it just depend on the phone? I understand to start with 0.8g then try 1.0g and so on.. but what voltage is less stressful on the phone?

There is no best voltage per se. The lower the voltage the better the battery life. I would try and start with the low voltage kernels then if you find one your phone likes try the ultra or super low voltage option of that kernel if you want.

For me personally, I have used slayher low voltage kernals with bugless beast and Pete's GPA ROMs and never tried lower because they worked well for me. Slayhers will sometimes run hot and if it does on your phone they try a lower voltage or switch to a different kernel. (I am currently using Pete's kernels that he designed, but he wrote them for GB and I don't know if they work on Bugless Beast or other froyo ROMs)

Also realize running at 1.0 will cause some increase in cpu temps (that is normal).

The problem with talking about what is the best kernel or voltage is there is no best since it is always a sliding scale. You simply experiment and find what works the best for you and makes you happy.

Can someone help me I flashed bugless beast and now can reboot into clockworkmod recovery to flash new kernal??

How are you trying to get into recovery?
Using Rom manager? Or,
When you turn the phone on by hitting the power button while holding the "X" button?

You can also try and reflash clockwork recovery and see if that helps. Since your running Bugless Beast you should be able to flash things.

Also if you can't get into recovery by the above methods you can go into ROM manager and flash clockwork recovery, then flash SPRecovery, and then finally flash clockwork recovery again. I don't know why this can make it stick better but a number of people have found this beneficial.
