NETFLIX working on Droid. UD 3.3.1!!!
So XDA pulled through for us again. This app works!! It seems that it should work on Gingerbread Roms. It definitely works on my Droid 1 running Ultimate Droid 3.3.1.
Yep, got it working on mine running LGB 1.8! I wish I could get it on my Nook Color though, I'm sure it's be sweet with that screen (especially when the lady is watching some crap on tv!).

If you look at post #44, and a user with reported getting it to work using the method in post #46 on a rooted Nook Color.

From android police:
When he covered the official release of the Netflix app earlier today, Cameron said, "If your device didn’t make the cut, though, I wouldn’t sweat it too hard – you know how resourceful the Android community can be." Well, the app hasn’t even been out for a day yet, and already there’s a way to get it running on non-supported devices. The only caveat is that you must be rooted. Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to work on the Thunderbolt.
So how’s it done? Well, the instructions are actually fairly straightforward, and come courtesy of tipster/redditor natemckn:
Root is required. Make a Nandroid backup! (I accidentally deleted by build.prop file and bootlooped my phone)
Download ES File Explorer (Or any other root file editor)
In ES File Explorer, go into Setting > Root Settings and enable both check boxes
Navigate to /system/ and copy/paste build.prop to /sdcard/ (just in case)
Open & edit /system/build.prop
Change the following lines to make your phone think it is a HTC G2:
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.brand=tmobile
ro.product.name=vision
ro.product.device=vision
ro.product.board=vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
Reboot the phone
Install the netflix apk (if you haven’t already)
Enjoy
As always, you shouldn’t take the dive if you don’t know what your doing. If it bricks your phone or eats your cat, it’s not our fault, Nate’s fault, or anyone else’s fault.
Aside from Nate’s Optimus V, we have no confirmation of this working on other devices as of yet (although it should work for most). If you give this a shot, let us know if it does/doesn’t work for you, and don’t forget to include your device and ROM!

Thanks, Looking forward to trying this out.
Edit: Loaded it and it runs great. I am running Pete's GPA14 with the stock 600mhz kernel and it runs without any glitches. It can take a bit for the log in screen to load up when you first hit it (white screen loads for 30 secs or less so have to be patient) but otherwise runs fine on my wifi. Will try it out on 3g later tonight.
When I installed it, I immediately moved it to sdcard, then cleared data, and rebooted my phone before first starting it (seems to be what everyone says works over at XDA) and it worked fine the first time.

On UD 3.3.1 I had Netflix fully functioning with Flash 10.2. Nothing changed when I updated to flash 10.3. I'm half tempted to try removing flash player all together to see if Netflix still works. I think it is irrelevant.
Edit: And by the way, I still have this installed in phone storage (not the SD) and I can stream on WiFi and 3G. It is very solid and stable.

I've got a pretty strong feeling that if you removed flash altogether, netflix would not work.
Running CM 7.0.2 here and I can start Netflix, but sometimes after 15 minutes, or if I pause it, it drops back to the movie selection screen.
I have the feeling it is a RAM issue and wanted to see if anyone had suggestions for settings to help it work better? I have not had to use it as the primary supply of entertainment yet, but would like to have it ready before I get to that situation.
I do use TasKiller right before I open any large programs because it looks like I have some background RAM leaks, but I have not identified the specific programs yet.

I get that error occasionally. Just keep trying to play the video, it'll eventually work. I've only used it on 3G (LGB 1.8).
Yup, actually was getting the same error over wifi as well. Had to try multiple times but eventually I was able to get a good connection over 3G as well.
Netflix sent me an email asking me to rate the quality off the FLCL vid I watched when making the screen shots. The last time they did that was with the first movie I ever watched on my computer, so...
For those running CM 7.0.2 and Netflix, can you compare your settings?
I can run Netflix as long as I don't need to pause it, and I don't get notifications. Anything like that causes it to reset/crash to the Netflix selection screen.
I am trying to identify if this is a processor or RAM issue. I started with RAM since it is easier to start with.
I am in Settings>CyanogenMod Settings>Performance.
I have set the Compcache RAM Usage to 26%, disabled surface dithering, and VM Heap size has been increased to 32M.
Nothing is set to be locked in memory, and purging of assest is not checked.
I am currently running stock kernel, min 125/max 800 for speeds.
I would love to know a comparison so I can figure out next troubleshooting steps. I have not flashed another kernel yet since the first time I did it, my phone kept boot looping, however that was also when I first started tinkering with Root, and I feel much more comfortable now with it to the point of being a solid amateur/early levels of advanced at this point. Command line I can do, but just do not know the language/meaning of commands.
I'll give it a shot later today - I just updated to winner00's #72 build, using the deprimed kernel OC'd to 900 MHz using Bumblebee governor, and TBH I haven't actually received a notification (or, more to the point, don't remember receiving one) while testing NetFlix thus far.
I just enabled compcache last night after updating, so that is new for me - I'll test and see, but I wonder if it is either the compcache, or something else...
also, is Flash Player installed in regular app space, or have you moved it to the SDCard?
I checked on the Flash and I actually was currently running Netflix without
My current ROM install is actually a bit young and I had not finished re-upating all the programs due to some odd stuff.
I installed Flash, and have tested, and I was able to successfully pause, wait, play, wait, pause, and then return to the screen before that in Netflix once now. Will test more later. If this is not a fluke, it may either be that it was indeed a RAM issue which resolved with these settings, or more of a learning of how to use the system while it is running Netflix. I use keyboard shortcuts all over while at work, and so am used to testing the system's limits. With the program already doing that here - I may need to just let it do it's thing more
With the steps taken, I've gotten Netflix running now on my D1 with CM 7.0.2
I also actually have the Netflix app moved to my SD and still running well.
I appreciate the assistance in trying to troubleshoot this johnlgalt.
There is a version of the .apk that is on xda that allowed me to use netflix on my recently unrooted, stock froyo D1. It is the one that is named device check disabled. Use this link
