I think I just bricked my phone... need help asap? (gingerbread)
So, I wanted gingerbread on my phone.. It is rooted. I had a friend giving me instructions for gingerbread. I was down to the last bit here, wiping and flashing the rom, and he had to go. I'm a bit stubborn, and as I have a vague idea of how to do this I decided to go for it...
I have ROM Manager. I flashed the clockwork mod recovery, and made a backup of the current rom. Then I went to install the ROM from the sd card, where I had it stored, checked backup, and wipe.
Problem now though... all I get is the yellow triangle. I can't boot in recovery mode.
Did I just essentially kill my phone? Help! I don't know how to fix this!

Reason: clarification
I am worse off now than I was. Kinda freaking out so any help is really appreciated obviously. I solved my problem initially... I got it to boot in recovery (finally... I just kept trying) and everything was fine. I decided not to use that ROM, and I downloaded Peter Alfonso's instead, using the ROM Manager, same steps... But then after the install... No gingerbread. It just wiped my phone.
I used Titanium backup and all before this.. can I restore?

download this http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4033527/signed-voles-FRG22D-Master_OTA.zip and rename it to update.zip and place it on the root of your sd card...make sure nothing else is named update.zip and see if the update will take. that file will put you back on "from the factory" stock froyo 2.2. you will need to reroot and reflash rom manager recovery, but may i suggest before wiping and all that try raid zero recovery instead, much more stable and a whole lot faster. also i have found that despite the hard work of the devs i just don't ever see gingerbread working on the og droid as it should. i personally stick with either sapphire 2.0.2 or ultimate droid 2.5...either way, try that and good luck.

i think i did the same thing except now my phone wont even go pass the "M" screen am i jus being impatient or is this a real concern...?? need help ASAP
Thanks! I actually managed to recover just about everything. I did have it all backed up... A lot of my app backups failed the first time, and it scared me at first, but I did get it to work.
I realized it is pretty hard to fully brick a droid, haha. But no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to install the rom, and it would never boot into recovery. (Always got the yellow triangle when I tried to.) I was afraid I'd missed a step somewhere! But then I ended up flashing a different version of clockworkmod (such a stupid fix... I have no idea why it didn't occur to me before during mini freak-out mode) and then flashing back. Then I managed to wipe and install the rom from recovery mode. Running gingerbread now!
Thanks a bunch for the reply! Kind of a newbie to this (obviously) but learning a lot

We were all newbies once, and there's never any problem asking for help on this forum. I've not encountered a *better* group of genuinely NICE people than on this forum. Glad your problem is now fixed.

A friend gave me his Droid when he upgraded to a Thunderbolt. I initially had problems with it failing in the bootloader, but eventally got it to boot by formatting the 16GB chip inside. The phone had been happily acting as a clock on my desk for a couple of weeks, so I went back to the Verizon store to activate it. The saleslady looked at it for a few minutes, then removed/replaced the battery and tried to boot it, and it hung again in the boot loader. Took the chip out, tried again, and it failed again. She said the phone had probably been jailbreaked (her term, not mine), and Verizon wouldn't have anything to do with it.
So... is there any way a technically literate, but Droid illiterate newbie un-root this thing, get it back to factory pristine-ness, and try again at the Verizon store?
How to revert back to Stock 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.1, or 2.2
*I just want everyone to know that I didn't write this guide, just the first paragraph. You can thank ikithme for the guide.
Now that a .sbf file has been released for our Droid's we can always recover them using RSD Lite. it is pretty easy to use this. Of course if you physically break your phone it won't help, but if you screw anything up software wise you are covered.
If you unplug your phone while doing this it will break it beyond repair, Verizon will not be able to fix it. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO USE IT!
Make sure you download the correct drivers for your system either 32bit or 64bit
Instructions:
1. Download all of the files above including the 32-bit OR 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers.
2. Install RSDLite AND the 32-bit or 64-bit Motorola USB Drivers (Depends on your system most will need 32-bit some will need 64-bit)
3. Connect your phone to USB and turn it off then turn it back on, while your phone is booting hold up on the DPAD. (Some users have said it is easier to hold the volume down button and camera button instead.)
4. Run RSD Lite 4.6 as Administrator (For all you Vista and 7 folks out there. If you are using XP you may not need to run as Administrator)
5. Click the ... next to the filename box and browse to where you saved the .sbf file and double click the .sbf file.
6. Hit start and below it should give you completion progress and all of that.
7. Once your phone is done being flashed (It may take a while so don't unplug it) it will reboot and you will be back at stock no root.
8. Done

@ grey1001, just wanted to let you know that you did post a good 'guide', however, for you and the readers, alot of the links are broken, as 'androidoverdrive' _might_ be up for sale.
For the readers, the 'missing linked' files can be found by going to the link in my sig.
I too am pretty sure I have bricked my phone. I this is my first time rooting my own phone, droid 1, and I thought that everything was rooted fine, until I began flashing the roms. Then it started lagging and then went into a power up loop, so I took the battery out and tried to go to the recovery mode to restore and now it will power up to the M and then light stays dim but nothing else on it... PLEASE someone help me!
