Basically, where are they kept? I searched high and low using root explorer and cant find anything relating to ROM Manager, but after a backup / new rom install today, all of a sudden I'm getting low internal memory warnings on my phone.

Theres probably several of them and I only need the most recent one, so I would like to clean house. Someone point me in the right direction to the folder theyre hidden in please.

On my handset, they're located in /mnt/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup.

That's the default directory as far as I'm aware as I don't recall changing anything.

Low memory notifications have absolutely nothing to do with what's on your SD card. That means your internal memory is running low (usually less than 30MB available). Either delete some apps, clear your cache, or move apps to the SD card.

@public- I am aware of that. my sd card has about 12GB free right now, it is internal memory that is being swamped, and it was only after backing up my rom that i got the warning, which made me think it had been stored in internal memory for some reason. i reverted back to the latest liquid build which i had been running, from the newest pete alfonso GPA16- which is what gave me the low memory warning. they are both aosp so i didnt think gpa16 would have taken that much space, on top of the fact i move every app i can to the sd card. when i reverted back to liquid, the warning went away.

Gotcha. Yeah, every ROM has a different footprint so that's not all that surprising. Lack of internal memory is just one of the very few downsides to the original Droid. Though somehow I've managed to get by for almost two years without moving a single app to the SD card. I use the CacheMate app to automatically clear my application caches on a daily basis and that seems to help keep the low memory notifications at bay.

Whoa, Whoa Whoa. When you get a low space warning, it should not be because of your ROM - I'm running CM7 with only 7.4 MB of free ROM space. IIRC, if you try to install a ROM that will not fit in ROM space it tells you right then and there that it cannot fir when you are installing.

The typical Low Memory warning that you receive when in the Android OS is one of the user space, not the ROM space. This will vary little between ROMs, but it is more so based on the number of apps you have installed. For example, if you have 100 apps installed under Pete's GB16, you still will have the same installed under another ROM.

As to why the message appeared after a backup, that depends - are you referring to n app backup (like Titanium Backup / MyBackupPRO) or to a full Nandroid backup (via your choice of recoveries)?

My guess is that when you installed the New ROM, something either got moved (from SDCard back to Usespace, which, technically, should not happen,) or that the ROM has an app in it's *system* space that you also have installed in user space, (Titanium Backup, ROM Manager, etc. are good candidates, as well as a few Google Apps) so that the ROM now thinks that those apps are in userspace whereas the previous ROM they were not.
