I didn't have to wipe my data, but it took two tries flashing again for it to work. Running 2.02. I'll just avoid updates unless I know there isn't a problem with it.
I got to avoid the update habit also. Curiosity gets me every time

I believe the only temp monitor the device has is for the battery, you can access this information by pressing "system info" in setCPU, the first line displays the battery temp. I'm at 31c right now after waking it for reference.
They pulled 2.03 because there were some problems with it, on droidforums someone was saying it was something to do with the maps.
This is what makes wifi tethering worth it. Went to a couple of iphone guys at work who can not get a strong 3g signal. I went to each of them and allowed them to tether off of my droid for 30 secs each. Then I end it with "now you see what a smartphone can do on a real 3g network"
That felt good, felt even better when one of them asked me 30 mins later to allow him to tether off my signal so he could use his phone.
This is my first rom and root, so still getting used to it all , but is it normal for example if Im texting and then I hit the home button when im done nothing shows up for a good 5-10 seconds? Eventually lal my apps show up and I can open the app drawer, but not for quite a few seconds. Nothing big, but it can get quite annoying.
are you using the 2.1 launcher (the one with the cube). I went to the market and got the home switcher app and switched it to the default home. I figured since the 2.1 was flashed from the nexus and they have been having problems with their home screen lagging why would I want to put that on my phone. The default home has the 5 screens I want and it responds much better IMO.

yea thats what i was using. ill give that a shot and i think im going to wipe my phone and see if that helps. if i got everything backed up i dont see why not
i normally save the data, i think it may be the home launcher. Hope you get it fixed. As I told some of the guys on droidforums, if you run into a problem that no one on the forums can answer, the dev have an account on all droid. All it takes is 1 o.s. to ruin your day. Though the risks of bricking your phone is rare; just waiting ensuring that you have the best information possible is not to much to ask from the dev if you paid for their app.
Again I hope u get it fixed.
I just run Home++.. no issues so far with either Bitchin' Baegel or Bugless Beast while using it..plus it includes the home switcher to experiment with(Might save wiping just to get rid of a default..)

thanks for all your help. ill look into posting on alldroid and see what they say
After days of hesitation, i finally decided to root/flash for the first time with the sholes mod updator. I was pleased, especially if you read the post and use the help you get from here first instead of just diving into it blank.Always Read First. My question is with the superuser permissions app thing. I was going through my app drawer and looking at the new things installed in there and clicked on super user and there was 2 things listed which were a group of numbers with a + in front of them, well curiosity made me click on one and it disappeared! i hope thats not a bad thing, please any input would be helpful on that. I wanted to mention i also donated for the app because normally im a cheap azz but i felt this was well worth the 5 bucks to the devs. One last question was about Over clocking, i did install set cpu, could some one lead me to or post a sticky of a guide step by step on how to do that once i flashed 2.02 sholes please, i would be greatful.
everything you need to know about roms are there and if you get stuck there are a bunch of people ready to help. Later i will port what they have there to here so you do not have to go back and forth.
as far as the superuser I could not tell you.

With SetCPU, in device selection don't make the mistake that I and probably everyone else does, don't select Droid, select AutoDetect. If you pick Droid, you are stuck at 550. Set the CPU Govenor to ondemand. There are a bunch of posts here recommending different profile speeds. I recommed a temperature monitoring program (I use TempMonitor) to make sure you are not overdoing it. Hope this helped...
This shit is pissin me off....i barely hear when my motorola cliq goes off...unless its very quiet in the room....someone help me plzzz
you may want to actually go to the Motorola Cliq section of the forums to ask your question, and also don't come into random threads and try getting people to help. It's most likely not gonna get you anywhere. The people on this forum are great but you need to show some proper forum etiquette on your part to make them want to help you out. Just an idea

Everything is working fine for me in 2.0.2 so I am sticking with it. In general we have to refrain from adding every little change to our Droids. Especially when the changes do not apply to what we do. Wait for major updates like 2.1 ROM.
Example: I loaded XP on an older computer and it ran great. After applying all the Microsoft updates it ran like shit. I learned a great lesson, if it ain't broke don't change it.

Right. Ever since I loaded 2.02 I haven't had a problem with anything. I'm leaving things as it is. Don't wanna mess up something that's already perfect to me.
Is 2.0.3 safe yet? I am thinking of going back to Sholes..
I first installed 2.0.2 with this app, then out of curiosity plus seeing the "big dogs" brag it up, I went to "Beast" 0.7.4 . The only thing I can see that I like more about Beast is the darker Smoked Glass. Sholes did seem smoother on the animations..maybe that is just me. I also see more people switching to Sholes now..
My Maps right now is fine..not broken. I just don't want to end up with the broken maps alongside the working one. I'm not good enough at all this yet to trust going into ADB and deleting the bad one

Update.. I flashed to 2.0.3 .. broke maps. So I used a terminal emulator and used the instructions over at AllDroid to remove Maps altogether. I then went to Market and reinstalled Google maps. First time if force closed, so I uninstalled it through market.
I gave it another shot, installing from market, and all is good! Maps runs perfectly now, along with radar in Weatherbug, etc
I went back to the stock 2.0.1 rom because of FCs when I try to open maps from other apps in 2.0.2 and now the updated Google Maps version with multi-touch isn't working. I can't seem to update to the newest version either. Any help?
UPDATE: Nevermind, I had an older version backed up with Astro so I installed that and the update showed up for me.
Thx nicDroid.. Done & done.. me droid runs like greased lightning now =)
Anyone,
Where can I find a change log for the latest release of the bitchin' bagel (2.0.3)
thx
Seems like the changelog is missing right now, probably being updated or something similar to that. You can go through the website though and pick out the updates for each release.

Try deleting the update.zip and sholes roms using Astro, and the rerun the updater and see if that works.

I just noticed this on the Sholes site for others having similiar problems:
Update (trevorj): If you are having issues with Maps/Maps related apps FCing, do this: (make sure you are on 2.0.3 when you do this!)
1. Delete “/system/app/Maps.apk” and “/data/app/com.google.android.maps.apk” (the second one might not exist)
2. Reboot your phone
3. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > com.google.android.maps > Uninstall
2. Market > Install Google Maps

I tried that, but after I went back to the stock rom it was like my phone had the update but it thought it only saw the old one. I couldn't see "Uninstall Update" on the Maps entry in the Market. But I fixed it, thanks!

I was about to do a step-by step beginners-type guide using a Terminal Emulator for just this..so let me add to it.
Go to the market and install "ConnectBot" (Or use your current terminal emulator if you have one)
Run connectbot. I used the physical keyboard through this whole process.
Choose "local" in the pull down menu on the left, and Type in a username. Press enter.
It will bring up a command console.
Now type these commands:
su
sysrw
cd /system/app/
rm Maps.apk
cd /data/app/
rm com.google.android.apps.maps.apk
sysro
now press the menu button, and tap "disconnect"
You will now have NO Google Maps installed. If you do(which means you had two installed somehow by trying to fix it), use the application manager or Astro to uninstall it.
Go to Market, reinstall Google Maps, and enjoy! Mine took two tries from the market..possibly a bad download.
PS: I cannot take credit for these instructions- I found them at AllDroid. Just reposting them here for those that need them
EDIT: Maybe it took me two tries reinstalling because I did not do Step 3 in the quote above?

I love this sholes mod. Was at the supermarket and I wanted to send a facebook message so as I was trying to go on the facebook full site from my phone I remember I had my itouch on me (with a much better facebook app) so I wiifi tethered my itouch and sent my facebook
message with ease. So now I have the best phone and a way to get the best facebook app. All I wanted from the droid.
I have read and researched and read again about rooting and still can't get it, it might as well be in german. So I saw this and was curious of a few things:
1: will this work on a Samsung Moment 1.5 cupcake cl14 official patch update
2: if for any reason things get outta whack, is it possible to go back to stock again from say a backed up original image?
3: if I know nothing about linux at all, period, should I even be attempting this?
4: I have my programs backed up on sd card, to my understanding this partitions the sd card, does it format it as well....will I lose my backups? Will I need to use a different sd card to do this with?
That's all I can think to ask atm. I would like to root, as I have heard good thing from doing it, I just do not want to brick the phone because I don't have the $ to replace it with a new one.

OK, I am puzzled. I did in fact select droid first (oops) after I got setCPU. Then I went back and checked auto select. When I did that, the screen showed two sliders , min and max. The max was 1ghz and the min was set at 125. At the top of the screen it says 550 mghz. So I ran the max slider down to 250 and back up to 1 ghz. The display at the top of the screen then shows 1 ghz. I went and checked the profiles, did a benchmark which indicated a cpu speed of 999.60. I checked set on boot, closed setCPU, booted the Droid, go back to the setCPU and the top shows 550 still. The slider still indicates it is set at 1ghz. Repeated a couple of times, but the same result. What did I do I should have not done or what should I do that I have not done?
I'm thinking about uninstalling and then reinstalling setCPU and checking autoselect in the first place like I should have done in the first place. It said something about saving settings, so maybe first saved first served to coin a phrase?
the 2.02 update still has fc when you open maps;two fixes right now, one involving wiping of data, the other astro file mgr. I prefer to stay with 2.02 I refeuse to flash a rom that is worse then what I have because it is "newer". 2.02 is working good for me right now.

No, this is for DROID ONLY
All other questions are irrelevant for your phone regarding this app.
can someone explain what the difference is in these or what they are
Dropbear SSHd?
* 2.1
* 2.1 (smoked glass)
* Milestone 2.0.0 (coverflow)
* Milestone 2.0.0 (coverflow) (smoked glass)
what is the difference?
Smoked Glass
what does this theme change?
and why I would need to pick a map now?
Maybe I should just root it old school so I learn. Can someone point me to a step by step to old school rooting explained? All I really want is wifi tether.
thanks in advance.
ps. I have searched but it all get confusing with everybody trying to trouble shoot on the forums I read without knowing what it all means.

Dropbear SSHd? This is a method of logging into your phone kinda like "Telnet". If you have no need to do that, you have no need to install it.
* 2.1 This is the "new" v2.1 Launcher (Home) from the Nexus 1, I believe.
* 2.1 (smoked glass) Same as above, but with the Smoked Glass Theme. You can see it here: AllDroid - View topic - [Theme] Smoked Glass *Updated 02/08*
* Milestone 2.0.0 (coverflow) "Home" from the Droid Milestone (European Version)
* Milestone 2.0.0 (coverflow) (smoked glass) Same as above, but with the Smoked Glass Theme.
what is the difference?
Smoked Glass, what does this theme change? See link above...
and why I would need to pick a map now? It's a choice of the "standard" Google Map, or the new MT one, with Pinch & Zoom...
Maybe I should just root it old school so I learn. Can someone point me to a step by step to old school rooting explained? All I really want is wifi tether. Go here for all those answers:AllDroid - View topic - Important Droid Threads

Your very welcome!

I downloaded this this weekend. I have to say it is one of the best mods I have used for the Droid yet. If you're on the fence just go for it...
have you tried the wifi tether yet? This is all I really want so I am wondering if I should wait for 2.1 this week, then root and do whatever to get wifi tether or just do this now?

You will need to root before you update to 2.1. They disabled root access with the update. Once rooted, you can update, and you will keep the root access....
I've had Wifi-Tether since I rooted my Droid a couple of months ago, and after several updates to the app, it now works great. I can connect to my Droid from the other room and get about 1.5mbit downloads, and .75mbit uploads. I live out in the country, but if I'm in the city, it gets even better!
