Default CWR Issues

I'm on CWM 2.5.0.1 and it worked fine before, but lately it has been giving me problems. It will randomly reboot, sometimes while trying to flash something or clear cache/dalvik cache. As a result, I'm afraid of flashing anything for fear of bricking.

Is there a way I can fix this? An alternate recovery or a more stable CWM I could revert to?

You have three devices listed in your profile, I will proceed assuming you are posting about your Motorola A855.

A while back I decided to flash to CWRecovery 3.1.0.2 via Rom Manager -> All Clockwork Recoveries (at the bottom of the main RM screen) just to check it out. Since then when I have flashed back to CWRecovery 2.5.0.1 via Rom Manager -> Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery (at the top of the main RM screen) it doesn't seem to work as well.

good luck
