Default X+Power Not working

I have a Motorola Droid running 2.2.2... I am trying to root the phone, but when I get to X+Power key so that I can run the exe file, it no longer goes to the right screen. Only shows a Triangle with an exclamation point in it over a phone gif. Anyone know another way that I can run the exe file?? Thank you,
LJ

you are getting there, but once on that screen press both volume up and volume down (I think). and that will give you the recovery menu. Some one correct me if I'm wrong please. Its been a LONG time booting into stock droid recovery. lol

If you are rooted already just use rom manager app to change the recovery from stock to clockwork mod recovery or are you not rooted yet?

Do you have a superuser app icon in the app tray? (this would mean you are rooted)
If so then you just need a custom recovery which I explained above.

If not rooted already how are you rooting?

Lance, please tell us exactly which method (with a link if possible) you are using to root your phone. There a quite a few out there and some of them are out of date and not at all recommended, yet they have not been removed from the internet.

On the other hand, check my guides. I have two sure fire methods to root your phone there.

good luck
