Default Noob here having trouble!

I just switched from my DX to a Samsung Stratosphere, and I picked up a used D1 as a backup in case I screw my new Strat up.

So, with the DX I'm used to using RSDLite to flash SBF files and what not, and I've gone as far as flashing CM7.1 on it... but the D1 guide seems so different.

Can somebody here walk me through this without just pointing me to the guides? (I've looked at them, and they're confusing).

I want to take my D1 from stock 2.2.3 to CM7.1. What do I need to do?

Thanks!

Actually what you are asking is almost too much to just spell out without pointing you to some guides. I just started hearing about 2.2.3/FRK76 for the A855 tonight.

So, let's take some baby steps and make sure you can still root it with this guide and then we'll take it from there:

[HACKS] Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

The above guide _should_ get you to a place where you can install Rom Manager (free) and then flash CWRecovery and go ahead and download CM7.1 (and the gapps) and go from there.

good luck
