So here is a little collection of MM themes for the Droid. I'm not gonna go into detail on how to install them and all that, but basically you need to download MetaMorph from the market and then put any of the .zip's from the themes into the folder "Android Themes" on your sd card (MM will create it). If you have trouble getting MM to open then you may need to do some tricks, I will elaborate on them tomorrow when I have some time unless someone else here beats me to it.

DarkDroid Special Edition 10K/24K Gold

Elegant Droid

Flavored Ice

Reiven

DroidHex

Droidinator

(Work In Progress) Dark Minimalism

Smoked Glass

If you find any other themes that are CONFIRMED to work on the Droid then please post them in here. If you have any other tips, tricks, or modifications then feel free to put them in here also.

Hrm....

The ADC Beta 0.3 build had something I haven't seen anywhere else - the battery icon has physical numbers, incrementing every 20% (20, 40, etc) all the way to max (100) - if I could get that set of images and then have it mixed with the Blue Smoked Glass, I'd prolly be in heaven....

Even better if I could get a theme made using RGB 158:180:255 for the blue color all over, and have that battery icon with same said colors, and keep the very kewl looking glassy effects that as in Ultimate 3.7.....

I wish I knew how to make these things....

Isn't this post more recent than the Glass 1.01, or are they different enough to consider them separate themes?

The Glass them I posted is more transparent than the new Smoked Glass theme, plus has quite the few more "Glass" elements as far as I can tell

The smoked glass has 3 links underneath it to the original Glass themes, version 1.03 - are all those smoked versions, or not, is what I was trying to ask....

I stand corrected..I didn't scroll down far enough when looking at it to notice the links. The link I posted has previews of the regular Glass theme, though

The Rei.Ven one looks nice but the rest of those guys need to learn the meaning of the word subtle.

Also, blue and red are overused. Especially blue. And smoked-glassy-bubbly-giant rounded-whateverness -- that stuff when out of style in like 1999. If only some designer would learn a bit about hinting and gridlines and using saturation. Kids today and their over-saturated primary colors.

Yeah, I'm an old grumpy designer. Sorry.

TBH, I'd like the stock glass look with those RGB values I mentioned earlier - it's a sort of pastelish baby blue, I have used it a lot and love it.

Pure glass would be awesome as well - and I mean pure glass, everything transparent with only outlines to see where things are....

With my bg, pure glass screens and widgets and icons would make my phone look almost ethereal....

Glad to finally see a stickied post about this, it seems to be very difficult to find themes. I'm not a huge gold fan, but I do think the 24K one is well-done. Actually have a friend who's got a graphics degree, thinking of working with him to create my own one of these days...heh...when I have this mythical thing called "free time"...

NOOB question/verification

the metamorph and theme should work with any rooted roms right? If so, if I switch to a different one and choose to switch back to the original with the ROM I have how do I reinstall the 'OEM' one.. in this case OEM being smoked glass of B 1.1

Elegant is the shizz..., for now..

But I will definitely be switching to Dark Minimalism when it surfaces.

I got a copy of Dark Minimalism through a friend and it is the hotness, still has some pretty ugly bugs though. I am also using Elegant, great minds think alike . Why didn't your icons change with it though? Phone Gmail Messaging and some others should all have changed.

Yeah I am stoked for a proper release of the Dark Minimalism theme. I made a post with ideas I am specifically looking for, he mentioned some of them but never gave a lot of details. Will give it a try anyway.

It seems all the UIs that really go for the more minimal, squared approach are quite rare. They look so appealing in screencaps but I want to wait for a quality release.

However, as much as glass is overplayed in all UIs, I feel like a well-done glass theme does look great on a phone. The modified Glass theme in Bugless Beast is pretty nice, though I do favor the blue elements of the true Dark Glass theme.

I've always preferred a touch of blue if color is going to be used in a UI. I think other colors just jump out to much, faint touches of blue compliments minimalism greatly.

If anything, I like the touches of blue in Android themes, just to have a color that isn't that terrible looking green/yellow that is everywhere (whatever color it is, I'm color deficit so leave me alone! :P).
Plus, it seems that green/yellow light flair is very common in UI design anyhow, so blue, while also overused, is a nice pleasing, cool look that more importantly, is not green or yellow.

Hmm, before I apply these themes, is there an easy way for me to remove it and go back to whatever Bugless Beast 0.7.5 had (I think a modified version of Smoked Glass)?

I can't think of anything easier than creating a nandroid backup, "StockTheme.BuglessBeast".

Alright, thanks. That's what I was gonna do, but I was wondering if there would be a way to remove the theme in Metamorph or something so I wouldn't have to use the backup, and if I install something new and later I want to go back to my stock BBeast theme, I don't have to use an old backup.

You could try using the xStock theme, or Pete's stock patcher in his forum at alldroid.

You mean this?

But will that get me back to stock theme as in what you have on an OEM unrooted Droid, or stock theme as in what comes with Bugless Beast (looks like Smoked Glass, but maybe Pete did some modifications to it)?

anyone care to elaborate on the "tricks" to installing metamorph? It keeps telling me that some files could not be extracted and installed, and that to make sure I have enough space in /system and that busybox is installed. An considering I am using Droid Root Pro and BB I should def have busybox installed. Any ideas?

Tried that, didn't work. Here are the steps I did in DRP:

Mount
Install Busybox
Unmount
Sync
Reboot

Yeah I don't see anything in DRP about chmod busybox, the only chmod I see says:

"Install and chmod smali, backsmali, and deodexerant (busybox must be installed and chmodded first"

I tried adding that option into my steps listed before and MM still won't open

I give up, apparently I've lost root too so I have no clue, still have the SU Icon but when I go into terminal i get su "permission denied"

I didn't like the look of the icons next to the other icons. The only there thing I don't like is thee bugging in the notification bar when it's pulled down. Its got weird transparency bugs and the date is in black.
Im going to try Reiven.

you most likely lost root, what version of BB are you running? some users lost root with the 0.7.8 and 0.7.9 versions i think.

Yup. I was running 0.7.8 and couldn't get busybox installed. I even tried to re-root to no avail. Upgraded to 1.1, now it's just fine, busybox installed from DRP no problem, no manual chmod necessary.

On an unrelated note, I'm really liking 24k special edition. I was skeptical about how much I would like the gold, but it's actually really nice. The transparent widgets sealed the deal for me. My only gripe is the battery indicator steps down in multiples of 20 instead of 10.

Step up to 1.1 or back down to 7.7 or below and you should be fine.

The battery indicator does bug me too because I have a battery widget that reads every ten percent

Likewise, but I never really have to worry about battery life anyway.

And it sure does look purdy

LOL and I like the battery because I don't like wasting space with a battery widget. To each their own.

From the thread at AD:

This is Dark Special Edition 10k and 24k. 10k is presented as an update.zip and should be installed first (Recovery image 99.2b or later is needed). 24k will theme almost every system icon a beautiful gold (Metamorph app from market is needed)

So if you just install the update.zip, I believe you should retain your stock icons. I can't remember if any of them were changed before I metamorphed. In any case, the update.zip is super easy to install so it's probably worth a shot.

thanx,
Download "Root Explorer".

Go into the /data/app directory, select the facebook apk (com.facebook.katana ?), and copy it.

Navigate to the /system/app directory, select Mount R/W at the top, paste that apk into the directory, and rename it "Facebook.apk". Exactly like that, including the capital F.
Make sure to select that same button again at the top, but now it says Mount R/O.

You could do the exact same thing with ADP or a Terminal emulator, it's really just preference if you prefer GUI to command line.
Me, I'm spoiled and would rather avoid command line. Especially Linux command line, been forever since I used Linux command line on a computer, so learning it all over it again for a phone wouldn't be hard but imho, if everything can be accomplished in a GUI, is there a point? You just have to understand everything you are doing. It's too easy to copy word for word what people say online and go into a terminal emulator and successfully complete a task and yet not understand a thing they just did.
Though command line prompts do generally scare a lot of people away.

After that, Metamorph will apply themes without a problem. Sometimes you might need to remove the widget or in general just wait a little for it to refresh, but the theme should be there and work (unless of course there is a known problem with that specific theme).
Of course, if the market version is updated, you might need to repeat that process.

Some places have said the market version needs to be uninstalled after it is pushed to the /system dir, but... that just made things painful on my end, without the ability to select a widget. Reinstalled facebook, then applied theme, worked for me.

Ugh I've been in one rough daze for the past few days (including when I applied the theme).
After whatever method you use to copy the apk into the /system/app dir, uninstall facebook from the market. Then apparently reinstall it, I think. Maybe someone can clear this up.
I just know it says it is installed in the market, but I have no trace of anything facebook in /data/app, when it was there when I started this myself.

This will allow you to change the text color (I think pink is available). Method A is easier but I think the site to the link in that thread is currently down.

I think these themes should be categorized for which version of Android they work for... 2.0.1 or 2.1
