yeah my cell standby is at 44% with 1h50min time on, all while being in my apt which has great reception...besides that it's a pretty solid ROM from what I've seen. BTW, does anyone know the youtube HQ hack? I liked how many of the other roms have this already implemented, yet this doesn't. Lastly, anyone know how to change the lock screen to the glass version?

I switched to Clockwork so I could theme this rom easily. BTW HexFusion is a fantastic theme despite the fact that I can't get the google search widget to them in "Launcher". It themes it fine in "Home" so I'm not sure why that is"???
The one complaint I have about Clockwork is that I cannot easily mount the data or system. I tried to busybox files to my system/app folder and when I use adb in recovery I can't push these files. I always get this prefix...any ideas?:

I was wondering this myself so I went and found the YouTube HQ hack but it is a .odex that you swap out with the original. Problem is this ROM is de'odexd so there isn't any YouTube.odex to replace, and adding it in doesn't make it default to HQ. What I am going to try now is to take the YouTube.apk from Pete's ROM and replace it with that. I will report back if it works.

Well, after using his ROM for a few days, I decided it wasn't for me. It's a beautiful ROM and has a lot of nice options, but unfortunately I found that the following issues made it sub-par for daily use.
- Unusual occurences. Weird loading, pop-in of widgets. I found that for some reason the screen would basically rewrite itself entirely when I exited certain apps and went back to home, and I would have to wait for widgets to load. Sometimes my Beautiful Widgets would lose the skin because of this, which was relatively annoying. When going to certain websites, the browser would hard crash, not even a force close message, it would just shut down.
- Battery life. I didn't have the crazy cell standby issues that others had mentioned, but compared to other ESE53 ROMs, the battery life is definitely worse, which is a big turn off.
- Performance. It ran great at first (I reflashed it a few times) but after it's been going for a little while, speed drops and weird things (such as the widget problems) start happening all of the time. I could kill tasks to speed it up, but I don't like having to do that. I had it down to 3 home screens to conserve RAM, but it was still happening.
- Propensity for 1x. I don't know why this is, but at my house I'm usually at 3-4 bars of 3G all of the time. With Koush's ROM, I was getting 1x at least 50% of the time I was at home. That's a big deal breaker.
So anyways, it was fun to try, has potential, but it's not ready for daily use (IMO) just yet. And of course it's a bit of a pain to flash back and forth between Clockwork and SPRecovery all the time to use all of the other ROMs.

Just curious if anyone has played with the USB based internet tethering that some with Koush's rom?
I can't seem to get this to work. The driver installs just fine in Windows 7, and the connection is established, but it just sits at 'No Internet Access'

I tried Koush's rom out for the second time this weekend and came to the same conclusion. I love all the extra features that there are and I am sure I didnt even come close to finding them all but it just isnt as stable or consistent as other ESE53 roms. After Koush does a few more revisions I will probably give it another shot.

Yeah I gree with you and Vincentp.. might try it again later, but the redraw of the screen was laggy once in a while too for me
helix launcher I have been using on Pete's v0.8 has not been bad.. I like the icons for st at the bottom.. so will see how Koush's works out after his next rev

I'm using Helix on Pete's as well. No problems whatsoever, though I would really, really like to see him add the home icon at the bottom or a drag point at the top when you have the app drawer open. I don't like having to hit the haptic back or home buttons to close it.

Anyone having any luck with this?
Same issue here. I hadn't tried it until now but...it doesn't work.
I also installed wireless tether and that DOES work.

Too bad. I let the Win7 drivers install but haven't explored any further. It would be helpful for the times my Comcast connection goes out. Hopefully it will be running in a future release.

for those of you who are having stability problems, how did you flash the rom? I am asking because I went the clockwork mod recovery way and I have no issues with stability, battery life doesnt seem to be a big issue either for me, I have been streaming pandora for a few hours while web browsing on wifi and its at 60% right now, took it off the charger at 9:00 am
I'll stick with the WiFi Tether if I need to tether...it's more useful IMO. I'm sure other's will appreciate the link though

Check it...this is what I use for tethering and you could use this instead of wired tethering (and you can tie in multiple laptops or wireless enabled desktops).

The only stability problems I have had is with JIT enabled. I disabled JIT and I'm good to go. 7 Screens, full of widgets @ 1GHz OC. Nice. The most helpful changes I've made were to disable auto-rotation of the launcher, and I checked the "Home app in memory" inside the Spare Parts app that comes with the phone. It returns home much faster when exiting other apps.

same here with the jit thing, I still dont see that option in "dev tools" or "spare parts"

Same experience here. I originally used SB Recovery and it was flaky at best. I reflashed using Clockwork after a wipe and all is well. I do miss SB allowing me to maneuver without opening the keyboard but you can't have everything. I find myself using both recovery methods as needed.

I agree. I asked this same question a page or so back. I used the clockwork mod also and this ROM is so smooth. Not a single hiccup with the 3d drawer, exiting back to home/out of apps there are no issues. With about 30 mins of web browsing, 2 phone calls, and being at work in a cell phone signal death trap I was at 70% battery after 6 hours. I can definitely get a full days worth of use still. The only issue is the high % of battery usage displayed by cell standby..but who the heck knows whats going on with that. My display is usually around 15% with moderate use, whereas that would typically display at least 70%.
The little extras in this ROM make it just feel like the phone came with it installed. From the reboot option while holding the power button, to the built in missed call notification setting, etc.

I wiped and did a nandroid restore via clockwork recovery. I wouldnt say there is a big difference in stability but there were just enough little hiccups and force closes to make me switch back.
A new version of Rom Manager is now in the market with a new ClockWork recovery (many changes!!!). You can now use the camera button to select (don't need the keyboard), it now downloads roms, and it downloaded 5.0.4.3! I have just flashed and have not found a change log yet. I will keep you posted...

I flashed with Clockwork every time. Stability sucked with JIT on, but without it, stability is not the problem, it's just general goofiness and decreased battery life from Droid ESE ROMs that turned me off.
I've noticed that on the past couple ROMs that I've used, Ultimate 6.3, BB v1.1 and now this, I've noticed that throughout the day, my phone just shuts off. Does anyone know wtf this may be from? This is not something that I can deal with because what if an important call comes in, and my damn phone has shut off? Or, if it shuts off over night when I'm expecting to hear my alarm go off in the morning and it doesn't?
Anyways, if anyone has any idea I would really appreciate it. One thing I have noticed is that when I pull my phone out of my pocket, it seems rather warm, which is weird, because I have my setCPU to 550/250 when in standby. Thanks in advance!
Oh also, any reason why when I go into my ROM Manager, everything is grayed out again, except for Flash ClockwordMod Recovery?

My phone used to shut off sometimes, but that was when I was running JIT. I've since disabled it and not had that problem.
As for ROM manager, everything is greyed out because you need the latest version of Clockwork recovery to do any of the other functions.
On an unrelated note, I just flashed 5.0.4.3. Hardly any differences, but one I've noticed is that the wallpapers are back
I used Clockwork recovery this time, but I don't suspect it will make any difference from doing a clean install using SP.

I don't think you're going to notice any difference. I used Clockwork every time I reflashed the ROM, but I tried it once before reverting to BB with SPRecovery just to see if it worked. No differences in actual performance that I could decipher.
Clockwork recovery is much better now and has a status bar and it shows you what files are being backed up. I haven't gotten the new ROM flashed yet but I will let yall know how it is later tonight or tomorrow morning after I have tried it out for awhile.
Man I might give it a go again.. Id o miss some of the features.. but I wonder if doing the CM recovery will be better for my battery.. with BB 0.8 the Phone has been off charger since 6am (13h 30m) and I am just at 50% battery. which I think was close to the same with 5.0.4.2

Just read this over at CyanogenMod:
(CELL STANDBY FIX)
"Seems as if there is some sort of bug with with Cell standby that causes the phone to lose signal which in turns just kills the battery. To verify that your set has the problem, check the Cell standby info in the Battery Use info. If the Time without a signal is higher than 0% (50% seems to be the norm) than you have a problem One solution, at the moment, is to follow these steps
1. Plug in phone charger
2. Put phone in Airplane mode
3. Put phone to sleep for a minute
4. Turn off airplane mode
5. Unplug phone"
Not sure Of the validity... but some people are saying it fixed the issue... assuming it hasn't already been posted here.

I did try that. It didn't seem to have any effect on the battery usage or life. Then again, my cell standby wasn't huge in the first place, but it was definitely higher than it should have been.
Do you guys think he'll eventually add actual DROID benefits to the ROM? Like the Defualt HQ hack, HQ Video Recording Tweak, Disabled default ring delay of 3 seconds, and other stuff like that?
Things that are specifically for the DROID AND ONLY THE DROID. Like I love this ROM, but I feel like it has everything but those added goods, stuff that pete and Chevy has that I wish were added. Is he working on adding those?
Add this to the list of things I'd like to see added: Longer Duration Between Wifi Scans Tweak *Battery Saver*

I ran Koush's 1.0.2 for several days with no problems then went to the 5.0.4.2 hoping to find more features/improvements. Well 5.0.4.2 had stability issues. 5.0.4.2 seemed to run much slower than the 1.0.2. The "live wallpapers" would stop being "live"--they would suddenly "die"/become a static image. I didn't pay attention whether or not JIT was enabled on either ROM but I did notice that 1.0.2 was OC'd at 1 Ghz and 5.0.4.2 was OC'd at 600 Mhz. I tried OC'ing 5.0.4.2 to 1 Ghz but it didn't seem to help.
I initially had battery life issues with 1.0.2 until my second full charge on the ROM. I was able to get close to 2 full days out of a single charge on 1.0.2. I have reverted to 1.0.2 for now--haven't really ran into any issues/bugs.
Yeah...that's nice. I'm guessing these scores are with JIT enabled? How is the stability?
I turned it off after I benchmarked. JIT is so fickle. It held up to all my benchmarking, but will randomly soft reboot while I'm listening to music or launching an app?
