Just installed. Patched Chevy 5slot 1.2Ghz over it. Running Launcher2 and DroidMod LWP and everything is nice and smooth. Had 3 reboots first, but no problems now. Haven't tried running any of the scripts, nothing there really looks too exciting, except for freeing up RAM. Getting about 160-170ms in short benches consistently, and about 9.5-9.7 MFLOPS. (nearly the same numbers I had in previous versions).
0.8 was not much of an upgrade from 0.7, but .9 is definitely something to check out.

How much faster can it be? I'm already getting between 125-135 with jit at 1250mhz with v.08. I think I'll wait and see what people think about it.

I'm looking at all the changelog and optional scripts and it looks so complicated. I do NOT want car home removed! Is everything still there and removing them is an option? I'm pretty happy on 0.7 until 1.0 comes out, but if 0.9 is all that, I may update...

How stable is the Helix2/Launcher2? I've seen mixed reviews at alldroid.

Helix launcher 2 didn't work with 8. It works with 9. Been running it since early morning and no problems.

Someone said in the thread for 0.9 that the old smoked glass update.zip works just fine, if that's all that's keeping you.

Not all that much, that's why I'm sticking with Koush. Just thought I'd post that up.

oh I thought you tried it..

looking in the thread on All Droid, it almost sounds like the Smoked Glass will not work, which is not a deal breaker but I did like Koush's 5.0.4.2.

It sounds like 5.0.5 from koush is in the works possibly, so I might just wait for that. the issue I found with Launcher2 was the text label shift in lanscape and the only way to correct it for Portrait was to restart Launcher..

No, said someone had said ..didn't get that in depth on the one where I read it though, my bad. Yeah, thats really been the only thing that has bothered me that I didn't do to myself (jit.) The fix for it really doesn't bother me having to do it every once in a while. I'm pretty stoked about 5.0.5 though.

Been running Launcher2 all day with no issues. Not one FC. The scrolling in the app drawer is a little sluggish, but I'm not sure if that is inherent in that it wants to stick to a certain amount of apps in one screen shot. The DroidMod LWP works really well, and the darker background really compliments the rest of my desktop.
As far as the scripts and/or options he includes; it's all up to you what you want to add or delete. It's really nice that he adds the options.
For the two features alone, 0.9 is a great update from the previous versions. (haven't tried Koush's, but there have been folks on AllDroid that say this is better, perhaps Pete fanboys )

Been runnin it all day, had been good all day until this afternoon, using the chevy 1.25 kernel (@ 1.1) from V0.8 and the SG theme from the same. SG worked fine, but the lwps did not, with the exception of the google maps LWP.

Just now I had two FC's in a row on the phone app, never had a FC on bugless beast before, not one until today. A few bugs left here, but they'll be sorted soon.

Would love to post this on alldroid, but I never received their activation email...

So pete, I know you aren't really obligated to check here, but I hope you do because I didn't see anybody else listing these bugs in the alldroid thread.

And BTW keep up the good work man, you will be receiving your second donation from me later this week brotha!

It worked fine for me. I had it defaulted for like 4-5hrs. I went back to the HelixLauncher though. 3D app tray was still a little laggy for me. And I don't like the entering and leaving animations. It takes too long. And I don't like scrolling on the 3D launcher either. I like the 2.0 launcher, its nice and quick, gets the job done.

Just in case anyone else is dumb like me. Here's how you get the scripts to run.
Quote:
su
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
chmod 777 /system/xbin/enablescripts
enablescripts
if it says
Quote:
Enabled All Scripts
Bugless Beast by Pete
then you're good to go.

to do stuff like change LWP
1. download the file
2. rename it to "LiveWallpapers.apk" (Just delete the color words)
3. move to /sdcard (root of SD card)
4. run the corresponding script in the Terminal Emulator

I'm sticky with .7 but I am curious about the RAM custom script. And also, is JIT stable on this ROM?

To enable the lwp do you just enable all scripts or do you have to specifically enable the lwp that you downloaded?

You have to do "enablescripts"
"enablescripts" allows the other things Pete did to run.

then you do the "switchlwp" and any other thing you want to do.

Sorry I didn't read all posts, but for those of you that are having a hard time with scripts use this:
u (enter)
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system (enter)
chmod 777 /system/xbin/enablescripts (enter)
enablescripts (enter)
(the script) example: rmcorpcal (enter)

I haven't tried it with a reboot, but if you exit then go back into term. emulator after the above, just type:
su (enter)
(the script) example: rmcorpcal (enter)

and you should be all set. They work.

For some people Pete's glass patch works.
Mine worked fine, then the phone dialer wasn't taking calls (I couldn't answer them) so I removed it.
Supposedly he is working on it.

I am always a sucker for trying new things. Those scripts work and there is a slight speed increase just going to 0.9.

I know that feeling though, I stayed back 4 builds on his 2.0.1 once because I liked the stability of, I think it was 0.6.

anyone else have opinions on v0.9?

thinking of switching, might wait until Pete gets SG working for V0.9

I have read more posts that the current SG for V0.7 and V0.8 will not work

Also what is different in the phone.apk for v0.9?

.9 seems to be less stable, slower and use more RAM for me, I see no reason to upgrade from .8 and am going to stay with .8 for now.

Yea, seems slower to me in actual use. Also Helixlauncher2 leaves a good 30MB less free memory on .9 than using Helixlauncher does, so I am sticking with Helixlauncher. I have also heard that people are having problems with incoming calls on .9 and I have actually experienced that once as well.

I did and it was because of the glass theme.
I think I read another that pointed to the same. Minimal issues so far compared to .8 and markedly faster.
Benchmark it with setcpu to determine if it's faster, and linpack

I think I read another that pointed to the same. Minimal issues so far compared to .8 and markedly faster.
Benchmark it with setcpu to determine if it's faster, and linpack
Reloaded the nandroid of .9 without SG and with Helix2 and it still at most has 70MB free and just seems slower. With Helixlauncher when I end all tasks it goes to close to 100MB free and just seems to run a lot faster. I will stay with BB .9 with Helixlauncher and no SG.

Hmmm, interesting.
I run at about 164mb consistently with many tasks running, several widgets, and quite a few apps loaded on the int. mem.
I had 196mb with onnly a few apps.

I switched back to 0.8, 0.9 was just running very very hot consistently after several hours--around 15-20 degrees higher on average (consistently in the 90-100+ range when resting)

That has more to do with the kernel than the ROM.

I think I am gonna try to download .9, because I think a SG theme messed my phone app up and it doesn't let me make calls when I am like below 50 battery.

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem, I upgraded to 0.9 from 0.8, all of my Live Wallpapers were running fine with 8, but now a few of the main interactive ones will no longer load I keep getting a FC, I almost ready to go back to 8. Have anyone else experience this and if so, did you find a solution to the FC on the Live Wallpapers?

Hmm, I have never seen my phone with more than ~115 MB free even after an end all in Taskpanel.

Im liking this rom. Being able to run those scripts are very useful. Especially the Busybox fix and the Bootloader.

I don't like the ROM. It not being able to use Smoked Glass is a big turn off, but the biggest turn off of all has to be the Neural Network(Nexus Mod) I liked the .8 version where it was tiny and interactive and looked cool. Thats for sure making me go back to .8 since there is not that big of a difference.

Some of my LWP wont work either. Galaxy, Grass, Neural Network, and Water all "Force Close" when trying to load them. They used to work though is the weird part about it. If anyone has any help, Please respond.
