We are releasing Build 11 as Experimental (X1). This will be available tonight. THIS IS EXPERIMENTAL SO USE AT YOUR OWN PERIL. Here is what works or doesnt work:
-You can use 3g but you have no voice calls. If you disable mobile networks in settings (3g), you have texts and phone calls, but no internet. This is the big issue right now. Phone calls do work on wifi though, so its not too bad
-no Bluetooth at all right now
-DO NOT ENABLE AIRPLANE MODE! WILL LOCK YOU OUT
-some apps fail in portrait mode. havent worked on them yet.
-does not use gps satellites at this time
-most other things work
CLARIFICATION: You can make calls on this build, as long as you disable 3g in the settings menu. When 3g is on, there are no calls (but 3g works). So you cant have 3g and calls working at the same time, but can switch between the 2 anytime. sms works in both modes.
Okay here it is. Also, keep in mind that this is overclocked for proper functioning. If you are not familiar with overclocking, get familiar before you use this. This is at your risk. So fat i have not seen any problems, been running it for a week myself.
MORE CLARIFICATION: By having voice and data at the same time, i do not mean like on an att phone. I mean be able to make a call while 3g is on. You can not use both at the same time in the sense of that meaning at the same time together. That is a limitation of verizon.
DATA WIPE: Perform a wipe of data before you install this nandroid. ALSO YOU MUST USE THE KERNEL SUPPLIED WITH THIS ITS CUSTOM FOR HTC ROMS!!! If you need to do a data wipe later, use nandroid to restore the data partition. This is because framework is on data. It doesnt fit on system. This is a limitation of a big man in a little coat.
ANOTHER BIG ISSUE I FAILED TO MENTION: The phone doesnt shut down yet. My incredible port does so i am trying to cross that over now and get desire up on that. More to come in future releases. this will be fixed by the first alpha release.
In summary, you need to have 3G off to use calls. When 3G is on, you cannot make or receive calls.
Will post screenshots when I get it up and running.
My Mini Review
This is a cool proof of concept. The ZeusDroid team had a tough challenge in porting Sense over to the Droid, but there's still a lot of work needed. Without wifi, you're basically stuck without data (unless you can miss all your calls). Also, even though the ROM is overclocked to 950MHz, everything still lags a bit, especially returning to the home screen.
I barely had any apps loaded, and only a few homescreens filled, and the ROM felt like it was running at 400MHz. I think there are some serious optimizations still necessary. This could be due to the fact that this is a port of a port (Desire ROM ported from N1), and hopefully the Incredible dump will help ZD optimize this ROM.
For now, I've had my fun, and am going back to plain old 2.1. Still, Sense is really nice and if it isn't working very well on Droid by July, I may be picking up an Incredible with my upgrade

Haha! I've been waiting for this one but don't have the will to screw with another "almost done" ROM. Fab, please keep us posted as to how you are liking this one...I'm looking forward to the screenshots. I'll jump on this one when some of issues are resolved. Good Luck!

This ROM is a bit slow, as everytime I enter an app, the launcher (Rosie) seems to get pushed out of memory, so when I return to home, it has to reload. So bear with me as I update these screenshots, one by one (as they'll take a while).
Home Screen & Lock Screen
About & Sense Pinch-to-Choose Screen Function
Phone & SMS
Messages and Music Widgets
Friend Stream
Calendar and Agenda Widgets
HTC Gallery and Music Apps
Mail and Weather Widgets
Scenes & Browser
FLASH!!!
FAIL!

What?! The incredible?! I'd keep my Droid over that any day.. That's just me personally.. But I'd wait to see what the Nexus Two is like! That could be something special!

It seems they are pretty much giving up on this port and moving on to the incredible port.
All part of the learning experience. Even if they totally abandon this port this port with will be stuff that they learn and will apply along the way. It is all good
This could be due to the fact that this is a port of a port (Desire ROM ported from N1), and hopefully the Incredible dump will help ZD optimize this ROM.
Haha I laugh every time I see that

I have it on my phone, for some reason wifi is not working and I can't receive calls at all (3g off or on) so i'm installing this rom again and will try once more, hope it works this time

FAIL!
I got this ROM early this morning... i love it, its not that slow after rebooting the phone a few times and leaving it running over night. And why flash is not working for you I don't know. I can play games from Games - Free Online Games at Addicting Games!. Flash is awesoume
I wasn't aware how amazing Sense was. I felt like I was sort of using a whole new OS. The number of apps, and general improvements on the Android UI is astounding, kudos to HTC on that.
For the rom, mine is blazing fast, I'm having the homescreen issues as well. As far as flash, it works...but Hulu doesn't.
Well the awesome ZeusDroid team has finally released a beta of the Sense UI from the HTC Desire. After downloading and flashing it i must say i am EXTREMELY impressed with the Sense UI.it is extremely fast and very practical.Havent had it long enough to see find out what bugs there(which there is sure to be)but for now this is my 2.1 update Kudos for the ZeusDroid team at Alldroid...

Glad you're enjoying it. Make sure you do a search before you start a new post about a topic. Also, make sure to keep root related topics in the root subforum.
And another tip, if you do start a post about a new topic, be sure to give some more details (i.e. a link ).

well it was too experimental for my day to day, a lot of people are keeping data off and just using wifi, hoping they don't need data here or there. but i need it. so i can't use this yet, did install, have it nandroided as i said i would and when an update pops up, i will go in, update it and come back to it later
I grabbed it and gave it a whirl, it reminds me of how Sense ROM's ran on the G1 when they first came out. I'm sure over the months that other dev's will grab it and try to optimize it in any way they can. Did they setup linux swap for this? I think that would really help but we would need class 6 sd cards to make it really work well.

Re: [ROM] Desire ROM 11 X1 Release - Sense UI for Droid
i would be all over this rom in a heartbeat when its cleaned up. i love htc sense and esp the widgets. i came from the eris and thats the only part i miss. I would also love to try that new friendstream seems pretty cool.
yea, i want to run it at the stock 550, but isnt setcpu a paid app?
Yes, the paid version allows the developer to continue work on it. It is a pretty good program, even if you don't want to OC, it lets you make profiles for standby, which should greatly improve your battery life.
It is available to XDA members for free, though if you enjoy it, I highly recommend purchasing it.

That doesn't make Sense (lol). The Desire processor is 1GHz btw. The ROM runs regardless of CPU frequency, though since it is still a work in progress, the additional horsepower couldn't hurt.

There are now a few performance tweaks in the original thread on alldroid. They're mostly memory tweaks, as the major issue is that Rosie restarts all the time. These should be addressed in the X2 release.

Sense or not...that's the fact. I know it's 1ghz...5mhz more. Close enough as to be a non issue. 995 is the speed in the currently released kernel.

950 is the speed in the current kernel. It's clocked high because they haven't finished optimizing the ROM yet. I can guarantee you the final version will run just fine at default speeds.
Your logic that since the Desire runs at 1GHz, we have to match it to run this ROM on Droids is flawed and wrong. How is it that we ran the original Nexus port on our Droids, even before the advent of overclocking?
Unless you have some proof, I suggest you stop spreading this around. Thanks.

I suggest you kindly work on your forum etiquette.
I don't disagree with your premise that further optimization is likely.
I have read every post in the forums at alldroid since day one on this rom. I am only repeating the reason given by the developers.
It is your choice to believe or not believe, go read or not read...but to accuse me in a rude manner of "spreading this around" with the innuendo being I am spreading falsehoods is not polite.
I did read all of Greek35T, thegeektern, and birdman's comments in that thread as well. They are the only developers, and none of their posts implied that this ROM had to be overclocked.
However, I did not read all 37 pages, so I may have missed something. Still, if the developer didn't say it, and it was a user statement, I'm not quite sure. You may have to take it with a grain of salt.

Fair enough
I did read all 37 pages as they came up...I am a nerd
I have a good memory for these types of things and recall it being one of the three developer's comment...but like anyone, I could have been confused when reading quickly.
I came from the Eris as well and had no idea what I was giving up. Back then, I didn't know what Sense was. Now I got a taste of this ROM and want more. I think my next Android phone will be one with Sense or equivalent.

i wanna say that in wave they said it was better if it was overclocked for now? maybe i am wrong. its a great rom, couldn't make it full time, i checked it out again today, just not an every day thing for me right now
Ok im new to all this. What does this sense ui do exactly? Those screen shots are they what it will look like on the moto droid?
Sense UI is the user interface developed by HTC and is normally present on their phones. It's just a flashier more graphically pleasing user interface. Think of your Droid mimicking an Eris, but with a more recent version of the UI.
The Motorola Droid - the first ever Verizon Android Phone - exploded onto the mobile market with an incredibly successful ad campaign that brough Android to the masses. With a huge and vibrant touchscreen, solid metal body, full QWERTY keyboard, 5M... Read More
