I've been running smoked glass 6.01 for about a week now, and before that sg 5.01 for about a month. Other than bugless beast, I haven't tried any roms out. I'm quite pleased with SG, it seems stable and speedy. I'm kind of wanting to try out something new just for giggles. Any suggestions? (and why of course)

Well I have flashed almost every rom and found some good ones along the way. But now that I have been running Cyanogen...I can't get away from it. Once you turn off the LWP's...it is fast and everything is so smooth in the rom. Little things like fullscreen browser just set this ROM apart from the rest IMO.

Running BB .9 right now. I have been switching between that and cyanogen. Cyanogen is really nice but my phone was running warm and my battery was taking a hit.
Made a nandroid backup of current ROM (ChevyNo1 Simply Stunning v2.0.2).
Installed ROM Manager app.
Flashed Clockwork recovery.
Made a Clockwork backup of current ROM.
Downloaded and flashed CyanogenMod ROM v5.0.5.3
Played around.
Made a Clockwork backup of Cyanogen v5.0.5.3.
Flashed SPRecovery with the DM Updater app.
Booted into SPRecovery.
Restored nandroid backup of Simply Stunning 2.0.2 Just to see the ease of switching back.
Everything is still good.
Reflashed Clockwork.
Restored Cyanogen v5.0.5.3 backup.
Downloaded and flashed bekit 1.2 GHz 7 slot kernel.
Running smooth and still testing it out.
BTW, the updated ROM Manager now can flash SPRecovery.
Makes it easier to switch back and forth.

i am doing a super mod that does mega stuff and the colonels are all lined up. its insane. it is way fast and super mega and powerful and you only wish you had it, it runs flash version 20.2 and its just more than anyone can handle, its in extreme beta, it turns the phone into an HTC but at the same time it makes it run on ANY NETWORK! I got it from... lets say "A FRIEND" yep, i love it

I am doing something similar myself except my focus is on letting my Droid run native Windows applications (both 32 and 64 bit). So far so good but Autocad is running a little slow The 3d video is superb! I just hate wearing those funny glasses while using my phone Tomorrow I will work on "thought activated bluetooth dialing" as there have been many requests for this feature.

I am on Cyanogen 5.0.5.3 and before that it was Chevy's Simply Stunning. I am still a fan of that ROM but Cyanogen has me hooked. I think that other than trying out different MM themes and updating I am home.

BB .9 I tried SS 2.2 but it was running a little warm so I went back to BB. Cyanogen is nothing special IMO, BB seems to run better and faster so I am sticking with it for now.

If you like BB .9, you'll LOVE Nexbeast .9...it is pretty much BB .9 on steroids
What does it add besides the theme? I am not a fan of themes, I like the stock look personally.
It has the 3D launcher w/ 7 screens. Also comes with either Chevy's 1ghz kernal or AdamZ's. I'm not really a huge fan of themes either but this one is very simple and clean. It's not overbearing with colors. You should give it a try, if you don't like it flash back :P!
I'm quite in love w/ the Ultimate Droid ROMs. I've personally gotten the most optimized performance from them, and it's the best looking ROM for me. I'd love to show a screenshot, but I forgot how to do it, lol.
Personally, I've never tried a bad ROM, and I love that they all have their personal flair. That's what so great about the Droid. You can truly make it your own.

I was on SG6.0.1 for a while and liked it a lot. I tried Simply Stunning but it ran hot for me so I switched back to SG. I recently switched over to Ultimate Droid 8.6.3. It has a lot of nice features and I really like the look of his themed helix launchers (in fact I pulled his helix launcher out of UD8 to use with SG6 for a while before I switched over to the latest UD). I feel that SG6 was slightly smoother on my phone but it is close and UD actually gave slightly better setCPU test values using the same kernel. Plus UD is really easy to install and customize with ROM manager and you can stick with the AdamZ kernel which has obviously been working for you in SG. I tried to install Koush's CyanogenMod but had problems like some force resets and inability to sync my google account so I flashed back and never really got to play around with it. DroidMod was my original rom and it was extremely fast and stable and has some good features but they haven't updated for a while and I like to mix things up. According to their site the next DroidMod will be "straight up liquified awesome." I will definitely be flashing the new DM when they finally release it.
One thing to consider is you will have to do a data wipe if you switch to Droidmod or CyanogenMod but you shouldn't have to for UD, SS, or BB (although it is preferred to do one anyways). With titanium backup donate version it is really easy to restore your apps so you can just data wipe and flash any rom you want to see what works for you. Like YankeeDudeL said they are all pretty good so a lot of it is just personal preference.

I'm also running SG6.0.1 and really like it but I was thinking about going with Ultimate Droid 8.6.3 just for the cool themed helix launchers. How were you able to pull the themed launcher from UD 8.6.3 to use with SG6.0.1? If I could do that my phone would be perfect.
As noted, depends on when you ask...currently Cyanogenmod 5.0.5.4 w/Nextheme 2.01 applied.
Like being on source-based ROM just because it's different (got boring flashing multiple iterations of ESE53), performance is about on par w/any other ROM I've used, first and only ROM I can run launcher2 on without lag, and haven't found any significant issues (yet - it's only been a day or so).
Down-side is flashing isn't quite as simple given the two-step (cyanogenmod ROM + google apps) unless you're using a remix that someone put together and themed (like Jrummy's excellent remix).
