It's not a final version from what I've read...2.0.1 base? Really? I don't understand the whole "ESE53 was leaked so we won't use it"...that's just silly IMO . It's not like ESE53 was supposed to be "sold" and we are getting it for free. "Thou shall not use leaked ROMs"...how did I miss that commandment?

DM 1.1 is not out, DMUpdater 1.1 is however, they released an update to their updater but not to their ROM.
Yea, here is what it says on their site:
"DMUpdater version 0.1.1 uses a new tool for reading and writing the recovery MTD that is compatible with users that have bad blocks. The updater should now work on every Droid, regardless of bad blocks."
Yawn.....

Hey guys I have nothing to do with DM team other than being a fan, and take no credit for this, but I've been checking their site religiously waiting for a new release. Well if looks like that time is here, kind of... An op on there IRC channel directed me to this link http://downloads.droidmod.org/droidmod-1.1-rc1.rom.tgz get it while its hot, 2.0.1 base... from my very minimal testing seems loads faster than the ese53 roms I was using... unfortunately I couldn't find a changelog.... if DM team didn't want this posted yet plz inform me... enjoy
This is what I read...I'll try a direct download today.
They're so far behind right now, I really see no reason to even try it.
Whats up with the hating. DM guys are sharp dudes. Do you judge everything without testing it. How can you have informed decisions without experiance? I for one will try it just see how those guys are coming along.
I don't know if it was really a hatefull thing. I for one agree that it seems like they are falling behind with all thats going on. I don't mean it in a mean way, I'm sure they all have pretty busy lives and can't spend a ton of time on it. At the same time, even though I feel they are falling behind, I will give a try when it comes out. Why not?
It wasn't hateful at all... they're just still using 2.0.1 and their reasoning is kind of silly. I would like to see them release something that competes with the current offerings, but to be honest with you - no, I don't need to test a 2.0.1 ROM to know that it is inferior to an ESE53 2.1 ROM.

I agree. There reason for not making a ESE53 rom it total BS. I mean what? Are the Rom cops gonna come and get you cause 2.1 is not official yet???
Well now that we have ESE81 we will see how far they are behind. I hope they have been working on some cool stuff that none of use are expecting.
I guess people were right about ESE53 not being the final build. Everyone assumed ESE53 would be our 2.1 update. But I thought I had heard ESE53 had a binary watermark that could cause problems and be tracked down the road.
Anyway I look forward to seeing what all the chefs come up with.

They're not coming along, that's the problem. Arguing that you should try out DroidMod is like arguing that everyone should put Windows 95 on their computer.

Alright Boss...here are some thoughts from someone who has suffered through a day without Cyanogen...to test this out
I know this is just a RC...so this is not a end all, be all review
Stock theme, 2.0.1 ROM with many of the popular 2.1 apps that came out 3 months ago (MT gallery, MT browser from the Milestone, etc.), and 5 screens. LWP's are there...not interactive cause they use the "Home" 2d drawer, homescreen. Which is okay cause Helix2 is nice...oops...it will load but if you click on an app that is on the screen...Helix2 force closes. If you click an app in the 3D app drawer, it works Helix (the first one) works well though so at least you have that option.
The OC kernel is 5 slots and goes up to 1.2GHz. I got caught in a reboot loop when I took it up to 1.2...and that's what I run all the time without issue. Runs fine at 1.0GHz.
Not much else to speak of...it is just very much like DM 1.0. So for all you people are excited about the "new" DM coming out...I hope, for your sake, this isn't it. Don't get me wrong...there's really nothing wrong with is...but where is the advancement?
I'll theme it, finish loading all my personal settings and then I'll back it up and put that nandroid in the archives...then get back to Cyanogen...hell ya!
Edit: They have TempMonitor Lite on this Rom...that's a nice "native" app to see on a ROM. Even with less functionality...it does the job.

With the popularity of Dodge Chargers and Challengers, Ford Mustangs, I guess it is time to go "retro" with our ROMs Where did I put my polyester suit?

This is so true. I stuck with DM for a long while but to give some bs about a watermark is just ridiculous. Even if there is one there what are they gonna do???? Guess what if they really wanted to do something about Roms they would have anyway without the watermark. Its a selling point and they know it so Verizon and Motorola allow it.
Well now that ESE81 is out OTA, hopefully the DM team can grab it and rip it apart and make it better. I have no doubt that the DM team is just as capable as any of the other ROM makers out there, they just have been a little snooty about the ESE53 ROM.
DM 1.0 is fine for now anyway. Who really gives a shit about this ESE? People are drawing battle lines over it for no real reason other than to say it's new new new new new. It's pretty much like justifying moving from XP to Windows 7. Why?

ESE53 is that much better than 2.0.1, it blows it out of the water in fact. The battery life is at least doubled, it is faster and everything is just more polished. And yes, the upgrade from XP to 7 is huge and very worth it.

Yeah, who needs your computer to run smoother (which 7 does on my netbook compared to XP), look nicer, and have better plug-and-play hardware detection?
DroidMod is fine in the way that stock 2.0.1 is fine; both have barely accomplished what they are supposed to do.
Edit: Okay...roadblock. I'm running Cyanogen and DM Updater is not seeing my sd card as being dismounted from my PC...I'll screw with it tomorrow.
Maybe my ROM is watermarked! lol
I am having the same issue with DMUpdater 11. SD card unmounted. Strange.
Edit:
mwesley6492 posted on the DroidMod site the following information:
"easy solution get rom manager from app market go all the way to the bottom and it will give an option to flash alternate recovery which should be 99.3 then you will be able to run droidmod"
This didn't work for me.

I forgot to mention that LWP's really slowed down the perfomance...like back in the days when people FIRST got LWP's. They forced closed and reverted me back to static wallpaper...all I needed to know
