Default Ok, I might as well go there...there's a new Ultimate Droid

It's called Ultimate Droid New Era. ESE81 base. Given the reputation, I couldn't help but notice that the only kernels being advised to use are Bekit's and when installing, it's being suggested that you wipe twice. However, there is apps2sd and several other CM watermarks (Pete and CM are credited) Make of it what you will. I wouldn't know what to compare, so I'll let you guys decide which way is up.

Ultimate Droid -> Download Manager -> Ultimate Droid Roms -> Ultimate Droid "New Era" (FAST!!!!, MetaMorphable, Apps2sd, Fixed Launcher 2 (Landspace, and Fluid w/Live Wallpapers Enabled)

EDIT: Meant to post this in the All Things Root (Droid) section, don't know why I didn't. Any of you special, cool mods want to fix m boo boo?

BTW, I flashed and I had the same issues I first had w/ when installing BBeast. I flashed back to Fab's NexBeast. However, that has been a lil screwy for me today, for whatever reason.

i just installed this to see what it was all about. it runs very fast at 600mhz and seems to be built off petes V1. cant be sure but it feels like it. its a pretty slimmed down rom its is actually a pretty nice rom. i am sure the die hard UD fans will like it.

First time for me flashing UD. It's very much a mix of CyanogenMod and Pete's V1. It has the little extra's CyanogenMod has like 360, Apps2SD, the option to reboot after pressing the power button etc. in addition it has zipaligned system like Pete's V1 in addition to having most of the scripts from Pete's. It feels like a CyanogenMod base that has Pete's V1 build on top of it. It's actually a nice ROM.

Ok that was something new to flash, back to CyanogenMod 5.0.6.2 for me.

If you like the Jacker's Rom use it.
I have a few Roms on hand including this.
If you donate, allocate your donations accordingly.
Some to Pete, some to Cyanogen/Koush, some to the Jacker etc...
Everyone put some work in, just some more than others .
You decide.

To me a mix of ROMs is not a bad thing.. I might actually flash this one. It seems to have a lot of what I am looking for..if only it all works together. There is another ROM called "Dominator" with supposedly stable JIT that is intriguing me though. I might just have to learn how to mix ROMs myself to get what I want

At least the UD team seems to be crediting their sources this time, at least a lot better, plus they say they will post everything on github for others to mix around. Maybe they are going to go legit..

Ok, so I was thinking, the reason I went back to 5.0.6.2 after trying Pete's V1 and Fab's NexBeast are the little things that CyanogenMod has like 360, the option to reboot after pressing the power button, and my fav. the 3D launcher with 5 app's across. I have tried taking the launcher from 5.0.6.2 and using them on Pete's and Fab's, but no go.

So I tried added the launcher to "New Era" by CyanogenMod and Pete....my bad I mean UD and it worked. So is it bad of me to run this ROM for a few days, I hope not because it has all that I'm looking for right now.

this rom runs about the same as petes v1 and cyanogen 5.6.2, go figure anyways if you like UD stuff this is a good rom. it seems he has started to give credit now as well. if you like UD you might try petes roms or cyanogen. fab also does a good job of mashing petes roms with goodies.

**CAUTION**
(This rom was only made to work with SPRecovery, If it is on rom manager (which works with clockwork recovery) it has been tampered with and will not be supported. UltimateDroid Forums is the ONLY place to get your ultimate droid fix)

That would be reason enough for me to skip it, if the other reasons weren't enough (and they are).

I'm not saying I like what I have heard, but I have been running this for over 24 hours, (after I took the 5 app across lanucher from 5.0.6.2) downloaded from ROM Manager Premium and have not had one issue. Just waiting for the next Cyanogen to come out.

You guys wanna see something funny take a look at the file called /system/etc/init.d/00banner he replaced where it used to say "Cyanogen" with the contents of my Pete script! Didn't give credit for it of course. BTW its not an ESE81 Base ROM, its base is still cyanogen and koush. Also one of the new features is an "automatic godmode" (godmode being the script I created and got no credit for), that feature being automatic is dangerous and is a huge security flaw. It sets the permissions to alot of files to 777 causing them to be open to anyone and everyone at all times, huge mistake. So all this being said, happy flashing! Be careful

Ok so I'm running this right now, I like the little extras that Cyanogen has and the scripts from your ROM. You say security flaw, what should I look out for?

This is from the Darkedge UI thread after someone called out BD as to why it wouldn't run on the new UD (cause it is a mash up of CM and BB v1)

Anwser this ONE question for me then. How in the world could it be a copy of Petes when his doesnt have Apps2sd, or even a 1/3 of the feature that I have and I havent been saying anything but have you not heard Pete just straight up STOLE my scripts, I have been using custom scripts since Ultimate Droid V2.5 WAAAY before him, a lot of people know this fact and still to this day he tries to pass them off as his. So why would I want to copy his work, really. He even admitted to stealing them HERE in one of my own threads no less. I will find it and link it back if you want. LOL now you are just being silly. LOL and if you arent a developer why would anyone listen to you anyway. lol Just open my setting and open his settings NOTHING ALIKE. bust open the framework and compare for yourself if you know how to.

and i will be looking forward to seeing your rom soon since you must be so knowledgeable in making them. LOL

Ok, talk is talk but you all need proof, thats the good stuff!

As well all know Cyanogen/Koush ROM has apps2sd and alot of other features, it accomplishes this feat by calling a bunch of services to run at boot. These services aka scripts are located in a folder (created by cyanogen and only found in his roms) the folder is: /system/etc/init.d In this folder there are various files that run when the phone boots. The reason they run when the phone boots is because it is compiled into the kernel. These services set up the necessary changes to make apps2sd and other things work automatically. In this init.d folder you can find one of Cyanogen's many "Easter Eggs" as he calls them. "Easter Eggs" are little hidden "watermarks" that show users what ROM they are using. For example in this init.d folder there is a file called 00banner it is called banner because it is exactly that, a banner of his name. As you can see he has written his name to display via a terminal at boot. BlackDroid (unknowing of how to make a service run at boot) realized that these files run at boot so he simply removed Cyanogen's "Easter Egg" and replaced it with the contents of my "Pete" script that runs at boot on my ROM, giving users great performance gains (which was released a week before his latest copy & paste act). Another thing to ponder, what reason do you think only the kernels that work with cyanogen mod will work on his ROMs? Give me any kernel and I can make it work with my ROM. My reasoning for this post is that I want users to be aware of who really puts in the work.

P.S. If you need more examples I can come with them all day

Welcome to AF, Pete, glad to see ya over here. If I may offer my appreciation, thanks for another great ROM. It was Bugless Beast that made me want to root my Droid in the first place (v.7.4 was my first), and that's lead to the most awesome mobile experience I've ever had. So thank you.

Jeez Pete you act like BD can't do anything himself. Look at how busy all the ROM developers (not including Koush/Cyanogen) were that month you were to busy to do anything. BD and everyone else had so many updates, like a total of ZERO, while you were gone! And now you release Bugless Beast V1.0 all crazy and fast and junk. Then all of a sudden the other ROMs get updated. If it weren't for BuglessBeast and CyanogenMod slowing things down, I'd probably have to update UD like hourly with all the updates they'd be cranking out if Bugless Beast wasn't around. =)

While we're bringing in quotes from other forums...

5.And the fact that he uses MY custom scripts and still TO THIS DAY claims he is the original creator (since he was more well known than me at the time he actually got away with it) as you can see HERE and in may more of his roms. I have not confronted him on the very fact because I think the idea of going after someone for things like these are utterly childish, but I feel I have to since he has backed me into a corner. He actually came to my forum and watched my thread which he did often over at Alldroid and I confronted him there about it because he seemed to be lurking and he actually admitted to stealing them and admitted that he thought it was a good idea. Here is all the proof in the links below so this can end here and now and doesn't have to go any further than this page.
Letter To Android Community and DF - From Blackdroid - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

This guy is unreal

Edit: And now the BD forum is down due to more drama...? Why do people put this ROM on their phones again?

I'm putting together a fundraiser to get BD a brand new HTC Droid Incredible! Anyone want to donate?

I figure they could use his help for custom ROMs...we have monopolized far too much of his time and he should be working on the latest and greatest right? I'm sure the devs at XDA could learn a thing or two from him
