Have you had more than one Droid? Not to say your problem isn't a real problem...I just wonder if it is phone or location specific. Every phone has had users with problem when it comes to reception.
New baseband...new ROMs...or anything else you can change on your phone will still leave you with the same hardware and network. If you have only had the one Droid, see if you can talk to Verizon and get a replacement device.
