actually, it doesn't matter if you own the movie. If the MPAA wanted to get technical, the method to break the encryption in order to copy a movie is illegal. So while having a backup is not illegal, the method to obtain it generally is.

So if ever taken to court, the uploader (or ripper) would have to prove they didn't copy it from a DVD. Either, that, or the MPAA would have to prove you did copy it from a DVD...Either way, the method in order to obtain the backup is illegal.

w00t! Sorry, I take lazy to an extreme!!! Now now... I know what you're thinking... what if I have this giant avi file already and I want to watch that?? Well.. ok..

Step 1. Download doubletwist and add the movie to it's library.
Step 2. Hook up your phone.
Step 3. Drag and drop the movie from DT's library to phone and allow it to sync.
Step 4. Watch movie on phone.

Doubletwist detects the phone, already knows the video format, size, etc.. of the phone and converts it to play on the phone.

Why ALL these steps for such a simple process?

just an FYI - i went to this site and it started with a list of movies, then a redirect and some auto scanner hit my system with the usuall blah blah you have a virus buy our crappy software - friggin spammers........

Second, this is MUCH easier than I was thinking so here it is......
Lazy Man's Movie Installation Guide for Droid (How-To)
1. Create a new folder on your computer desktop called "Movies" or whatever you want to call it.
2.Download movies that you would like to see in mp4 format and save them to the folder you just created. Here is the lazy part.....There happens to be 1 particular thread on Crackberry.com that has links to hundreds of new and late release movies already in mp4 format! I will give the link to that thread here.......My first movies post... - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com
3. Connect your USB cable that came with your phone from the phone to your computer and you will get a notice on your phone. Pull down the notification bar on your phone and press the USB notice.
4. Select MOUNT your device. Wait a few seconds. This will pull up a window on your desktop that shows what is currently on your SD card. (I think it is just a Picture folder and Media folder, cant remember. If the window doesnt pull up, just pull it up manually with START>MY COMPUTER>AND WHATEVER DRIVE YOUR SD CARD SHOWS UP AS.
5. Open your new "Movies" folder and just drag your new media over to the already existing Video folder on your SD, OR you can create another new "Movie" folder on your desktop and drag that over first and then transfer your movies over to it. The options are limitless.
6. When your done, pull down the Notification Bar on your phone and press Disconnect USB. It will then say it is preparing your SD. Disconnet the actuall USB cable and.....
7. Click on Gallery on your phones Application menu and go into your new "Movie" folder and ENJOY!
*DISCLAIMER*-Its up to you what you do with the link provided above! All I can say is EVERY movie I have pulled from it thus far has been nothing short of SPECTACULAR on my Droid. They are all already in the right format and good to go! Hope this helps!
thank you!!
