Default how to customize ringtones for contacts

Seems a lot of people don't know how to do this........

Open contacts
Goto the contact you want to change
On the screen you select either to dial or message press the menu softkey
Select options
Select ringtone you want for that contact

Works for me

I also recommend the free app Ringdroid. So you canuse your music on the phone for ringtones.

And you can also edit your music to make ringtones that you save to the Android ringtones that you can use with anything that Android allows notification tones with.

I also recommend Rings Extended. It will allow you to simply set an mp3 as a ringtone. All my previous phones let me have the ability to just choose an mp3 as a ringtone, and I thought it was roundabout that I had to play an mp3 first, then set it as my ringtone. Esp. because I don't want my text ringtone to be the same as my call ringtone.

To use an MP3 as a ringtone, just play the song in the android media player and while it's playing tap the menu key and select "Use as Ringtone".

Actually, now that I have re-read what you wrote, it sounds like you are either 1) not on a DROID, or 2) not in the contacts app (from your phone) - are you looking at contacts in messaging or GMail?

I have the same menu options as you too! None of the above menu options appear for me and none in any forum for how you do this exist on my phone!!! Super super frustrating! I've had this phone since March and still can't figure out how to do this. There must be a way! Do you have the Droid 2 global? Maybe that's the problem? That's what I have. Maybe this only works for the regular Droid?
