I finally figured out how to create your own custom playlists right on Droid in music app. I dont want to use any software for this. I dragged all of my iTunes music onto sd card.

All you need to do is open the music app on Droid and either select Albums, Artist or Songs and whatever Album, Artist or Song you want to use on your custom playlist just do a long hold on the item and the pop up will give you the option to "Add to Playlist". Tap on that option and from there you can create a new playlist and name it. Then you just select that playlist for the next item you want to add to it.

On OS 1.5 you did this through the Playlist portion but now it's different but just as easy to do.

Hold on.. You just dragged all your iTunes music onto the SD card? Which folder did you drag? And the iTunes music now plays on your Droid?

Nah, he probably plays his own tracks through iTunes. That's what I used to do when I was an Apple prisoner. And then you can have it all placed neatly in one folder, further organized by artist and then by album, using one of those menus in the menu bar. The option is something like "consolidate music library" or something.

I'm on a Mac but my guess is this will be the same on a PC. Also, I upgraded my iTunes library a while back so all my music is drm free (no copy protection. You dont have to convert or do anything to your music or videos, they play perfectly on Droid.

Here are the steps:

1. Mount your Droid on your PC. (I took out the micro sd card from my Droid and placed it into a sd holder and placed that in my Mac's sd slot because it will write the files faster, but either way.)
2. On the sd card make a new folder "Music" (unless you already have a folder named this.)
3. Then (NOT THROUGH THE ITUNES APP) Open your file explorer and find your iTunes folder. My guess is you will find it at c:\iTunes or c:\music\iTunes
4. Inside your iTunes directory you will see the folder called iTunes Music. Open this folder and you will see all of the music you have in iTunes. Just select them all or the ones you want and drag them to the "Music" folder you created on your Droid sd card. Just drag the whole folder of albums you have and it will work fine. For example if you have a folder titled "Counting Crows" and inside that are six more folders with the six albums you have. Just drag the main "Counting Crows" folder and all albums and artwork will be transferred to Droid.

The key is to make sure your tracks have no copy protection. You can upgrade your music in iTunes to remove copy protection. Even music videos play perfectly on Droid.

For Windows Media Player, once the Droid X is discovered, right click on the name of your Droid X device to SET UP SYNC LIST. Then, you identify which Windows Media Player playlists will sync in. Here is the rub...

When your device is connected in "USB Mass Storage" mode, the music and videos will sync, but the Playlists do not.

However, when you change to "PC Mode" on the USB Connection, everything syncs the way it's supposed to - including the playlists from Windows Media Player.

I personally have had NO success with "Windows Media Sync" mode on USB Connection, but I hear rumor it works with Windows 7 OSs.

I did it on windows 7. Yet the 1gb of videos took 2 hours. The mp3 folder took seconds, and it came out as a playlist in music player. However I am still trying to figure out how to make play-lists for my videos. I also should mention that I open the sync tab in media player first then connect usb cord and it will make a connection that does not require using the safe to remove thingy. Yet if you go into android settings to make usb connection then plug in usb when prompted you can move folders back and forth much quicker and you will have to use the safely remove button before disconnecting. You can't make playlist in windows 7 media player with mp4's you can't even drag and drop them in. But you can sync them to your android through the sync tab. Yet I can click on mp4's and they will play in media player but I cannot get them into the Library. Sucks. I read a lengthy process of downloading codecs and other such stuff with registry tweaks to make media players library recognize mp4's....I decided no thanks to much tweaks. I think it might be easier to just convert to wmv.
