I had the same problem and did the same thing, went back to 2.0.1. Still no luck with the market so I figured to call Verizon. Seems Google had a major problem but there is a workaround. Go to market and click to download your app. Then click on google talk. Dunno why but it will jump start your download. I went back and re-rooted my phone and all is well. Whew! Now I am finishing up reloading my apps.
Darn it! Stuck again. I know I am rooted and am now running 2.1. Whoo hoo! But when I tried to install Beast all I got a very short version of the start up and then the screen just went blank and then ... nothing. Dead droid. I had to remove the battery to reboot. I tried several times restoring my backup and then reinstalling the rom. Same result. Thank goodness for nandroid backup. I must be missing something but I could swear all the instructions say is to click install from the recovery screen. How hard is that? Any hints would be welcome. Just please be gentle.
I click on SIMPLE Nandroid Restore (latest) and i get - ERROR: Nandroid exited with status 25
I also go back to the main boot menu and see "install" as the last option. I click into it and it looks like the 2.1 ROM is there (INSTALL /sdcard/update.tar as ROM) But i'm too afraid to click it and brick phone.
hey great intruction but im just a little confused on step 6 of flan when u say extract or unziped and after u unzip it theres more inside i was just wondering if i unzip those or leave em be

I believe you can only install and run beast from a 2.0.1 ROM. this may be your problem.
Whenever I try downloading the RootHelper It downloads in EWF not .zip then I download it and i unzip it it and its just this unopening file and i dont get the apk file either. I then tried downloading from my phone and it worked but i opened root helper and i couldnt click the buttons.
I do everything correct with the root, until I get to the update.zip in recovery mode, ill press it with the d pad and it says installation aborted ?!/
if i did the whole first step of the tutorial on the link and then i decided to back out, do i have to unroot or do i just leave it as is? cuz im experiencing a lag now.

download again because you're only rooting from either 2.0 or 2.01 to just the rooted version so there's no version that it shouldnt work

if that's the case, the only thing you did was root your droid which doesnt cause any lag that didnt already exist because there are no ROMs running on your droid to be affecting performance

i dont know how or why it would download in ewf because i've never even heard of that format before especially since i uploaded the file as a .zip
Thanks Rhyno. That explains a lot. I will try again next weekend when I have time to spare if I screw it up again.
you can only download Pete's ROM over an existing 2.01 ROM so if you want to go from this 2.1 rom to 2.01, i suggest you check out droidforums.net b/c their 2.01 roms can be installed over 2.1

Please flow blow step and try it. I think you get success.
1. Download please: http://rootyourdroid.info/files/unroot_update.zip
2. Flow this step: Unroot & Back To Stock | Root Your Droid
3. Then: Mount USB
4. Where says “Update.zip” delete it.
5. Take the file named “unroot_update.zip” that you downloaded to your desktop and place inside the ROOT of your SD card, Once its copied to the SD card you must rename the file to “update.zip” DO NOT EXTRACT THIS FILE!
6. Reboot in Recovery- Hold power and X key at the same time
7. Hit install
Allow update.zip installation
install sdcard/update.zip (depreciated)
8. Wipe cache partition
Wipe data/Factory Reset
REBOOT and you’re done!

I'm having a problem and need to know how far back I need to go to fix it. The phone shows I'm running 2.1 firmware with 2.6.29-omap`-g0dd7e0b android-buid@apa26 #511 Kernel. I used Adam's 5.01 .trz rom but now I don't show the Super User app nor do I have the Auto Detect choice in SetCPU.
I'm running 0.99.3b.img recovery and flash it before installing the 5.01. I didn't wipe the cache or do a reset as it wasn't in the instructions.
Is there an easy fix or do I have to go all the way back to stock and start over?
Thanks
Installed the ROM with 0.99.3b just copied the rom as downloaded and copied it to my sdcard. Booted in recovery and installed after selecting update from sdcard. Having issues with reboots but am working on it with slower OC speeds. Am at 800 now, have been for about 8 hours without a reboot.

Reason: Update
I've searched the forums but haven't found an answer. Has there been a fix for the keyboard light? If it hasn't been fixed, can someone tell me how to go back to the stock rom and if it's possible go back to the backup that I created before I loaded 2.1? Any input is greatly appreciated.
When will there be a REAL 2.1 root? Like how we rooted 2.0.1?
I am nor comfortable doing all this other stuff to root...I dont like seeing..."you have to reactivate your phone, and it uninstalls everything". rated it is appreciated some one found a loop hole but...it'd a long process unlike the root for 2.0.1
Would be nice to have a way like that.
Android 2.0.1 wasn't out to long and it was rooted quick.
Anyone have an Idea when that might come out?
Hey I just got my droid, would it be a good idea to update it and install this right now before I get any apps and stuff? or is there something I need to do before I decide to get android 2.1?

Your droid should already have Android 2.1 on it. Go to settings, click about phone, and see which android is already on there.
