Well, you get a text transcription with GV (albeit not a very good one at times  ). Also, the ability to access your voicemail from anywhere you're connected to the web is great. The unified online SMS/voicemail inbox works very well if you're using your GV # to text as well.
I'd try both and see which one works for you...if you don't have a GV invite, PM me. I've got a few to spare.
