I want to hear the downlow on the actual speed of this ROM. Coming from SS 4.6 it's tough to beat.

Initial reaction is that it's snappy. I'll have to give it a day or 2 but the redraw for launcherpro seems much better. I wonder what android kernel it's using.

Thought i was having network problems but it seems to have solved itself. Going from YouTube or the browser into the launcher seems to have no lag or stutter. Renders perfectly...for now.

The Nexus actually got 2 OTAs. They first got FRF85(I think) then a few days later got FRF91.

Maybe this is something similar and Droid users will be getting FRG22 in a week or two

Flashed. Way, WAY faster than CM6-RC2. Possibly the fastest ROM I've used to date, and I've been doing this for a while.

Wouldn't say there is a huge difference, but definitely smoother than FRG01B.

I can't disagree with you shadow. Not only is it fast but I like the peace of mind it gives me knowing its made for the Droid. Hope these devs make good of this one.
This is how I've always imagined the phone to work and the battery life is WOW.

Replaces bb and I don't know if it works with any themes yet. Then again, I haven't been using any custom themes for over a month because I dunno what themes work with what ROM. Just playing the waiting game right now but I think the liquid frozen ice blueberry will be my next if anyone can confirm compatibility.

Meh, SS 4.6 has been fast and snappy enough for me so far. I'll wait until SS 4.7 or whatever his next build is that will be based on this. I somehow think it can't be much faster though. I haven't had any re-draw issues or lag with it whatsoever for the last couple days.

Everytime I try flashing this it says installation aborted and says the file is bad and then goes into a bootloop.

I was able to install earlier today without a hitch. I would try re-downloading if it is failing to install. I was running LithMod and reflashed to this with no data/cache wipe. Installed perfectly.

I just switched to LithMod and am currently in love with this rom. Is it faster than LithMod? The only thing is that I love how much customization comes with LithMod and such. So I'm not sure if you can theme this rom yet. Would love to hear your thoughts vs LithMod. I think if I say LithMod one more time I might go crazy

I saw lots of people report that this could install over existing Froyo roms without a wipe... so I tried it. Installed over BB 0.4

Initial boot took FOREVER but it's finally loading up. I'll report if I have any hiccups. Right now everything is VERY sluggish.

Hey now, Pandora works once again!

Gonna run this for awhile, and if it's solid & stable I'll try slapping MotaBoy's HTC Sense theme over it. It's built for FRF84B so I'm not sure it'll work well, but it's worth a shot.

FWIW I also applied this over BB v0.4 and then went ahead and applied Fab's Nextheme for BB and everything worked. Initial boot took forever but all is good now.

Only thing is, how do I get my phone to stop asking me to install the OTA.

this rom is BLAZING fast, and it's a noticeable difference too. redraw on launcher has been spotless so far and load times for just about everything is NUTS

Are you guys overclocking this one yet or is it the stock kernal that's giving you such good results?

Best 2.2 rom I've used soon far. Quadrant score of 1688 linpack in the high 18's. Using p3droids 7slot lv @ 1200. Very stable I have seven screens w launcher pro all filled with Widgets and apps. I bought his app so I'm using the full sized people, bookmark 's,and calendar Widgets. Also beautiful home with the screen animations turned on. Very happy with this just needs to be themed. Hopefully it will get some smoked glass love

It runs great without oc, I only oc'd. To see what peek numbers would be. O have setcpu. At 125 to 600 on demand ..

Im back to running the kernel that came with. I installed P3's 125-1000 LV and it didnt show any improvement on the linpack scores. was getting 9.6s stock and same oc'd. Noticed at boot it took like 5 minutes for the phone to shake it self out and start working without any major lag.

I did not set up SetCPU when the p3 kernel was installed thinking it would do everything on its own.

Been running it for a few hours now, here's my impressions so far:

Every boot up takes forever. With BB, booting up is quick and the phone is usable moments afterwards. With this, booting up takes about a minute too long and then the phone is unusable for the following 2-3 minutes.

So far it's only crashed once; I had Pandora playing while trying to load up some flash video on ESPN. I suspect the crash was more flash's fault than anything else. After a battery pull, my phone bootlooped before finally becoming usable.

Now I just installed the HTC Sense black notification bar theme over it. To say I'm happy with the result is an understatement However I did modify the theme a bit; I removed all the themed apk's before installing it.

Do you think the phone being unusable for a while has anything to do with your apps reinstalling form the market? Generally that's the case with all the Froyo ROMs on first boot. Also did you wipe data/cache before installing?

You need to setup setcpu. On mine it was set to min 125 550 Max, when I set it to 1200 max I got high 18's in linpack.

Default FRG22 available.

There must have been significant updates from 01B to 22. I have a full copy of FRG22 uploading now and as soon as its up I will edit this post. From what I see its a whopping 73MB. Also if going from a 2.2 build already there is no need to wipe cache. I have not yet put it on my phone, its claims to be the non rooted rom but I cannot verify that. I am also looking for the patch file there is supposedly a 1.6MB patch to get to FRG22 if this is the case then why is the base FRG22 almost 30MB larger. More news to come.

OK it appears this is a rooted FRG22 after doing some searching around a little more if you want to try it go ahead its at: http://www.strifejester.com/FRG22Release.zip

I am going to keep my eyes open for the FRG01B to 22 patch and full OTA 22 file and try to keep this thread updated.

I have not OC'd yet. This is the first one I didn't feel the need to in making my phone work the way I feel it should. I've installed it over FRG01B but not sure which android kernel it's using. Very nice.

yeah i'm positive you aren't going to get optimum results without wiping. You are talking about coming from a different ROM. I never even move between different versions of the same ROM without a wipe, to many variables to get a good idea what is ROM related and what is just conflicting data.

Really surprised that I haven't seen any ROMs/Themes built from/for this yet. Or have I missed one?

Default ROM Review

This one is pretty simple, so I'll keep this short, sweet, and to the point

Initial Setup:
As reported, it takes quite a bit to boot up. Market synced up fine, restoring the majority of my apps.

Appearance:
Not much to report here. Pretty much just a stock theme. I did not try to theme over it, but considering most themes are put together for certain builds, I hypothesize that we'll have to wait for ROMs to start being built for this one.

Performance:
Very smooth, virtually no lag. But I'm not getting the great results everyone else seems to be. Benchmarks with both the stock kernel and others were unimpressive. High 200s short bench, and high 1300s on Quadrant, on 1GHz kernels. I suspect to get the most out of this build, we'll need to see what the custom devs can do with it.

App and System Function:
Everything worked like it should, including GPS and WiFi. I didn't run into any Market or app issues. This is a very basic ROM, mostly untouched, so you can't expect too much. The battery was well served, as there wasn't much to draw away extra power. Ran cool, lasted as it should.

Overview:
Being there were very few tweaks to this, you can't expect a whole lot. Mostly, I think we all just wanted to know how it performed, and it was average on my Droid, at best. As I stated earlier, it'll take a dev to build off of it and optimize. I trust that's taking place as I type this.

Rating:
3 out of 5 stars.

I am going to keep my eyes open for the FRG01B to 22 patch and full OTA 22 file and try to keep this thread updated.

What is the purpose of reposting the rooted FRG22 here when I posted both rooted deodexed and non deodexed versions of the file. If you need them see the original post or go here MYDROIDWORLD.

I hope you guys enjoy this build as much as I have.

I don't understand some of the other complaints on this ROM, thing is fast as all hell. Did a wipe, installed this, boot time is extremely fast. When the Droid eye is going and the phone initially vibrates as to warn you that its on, the lockscreen instantly appears after that, the boot time is about 25 seconds, and I'm being very generous with that time, I bet its closer to 15-20. Thing isn't slow, and going to this from the previous build I was using (intial Froyo leaked from Google) my battery life is awesome.

I am going to break away from Pete's BB and try this ROM out. I can't *not* try it after all of the commentary, and since I haven't themed BB it is not going to be that much different using a stock (even if rooted) ROM now, now is it?

I'll be making backups shortly, and then installing over BB and seeing if it gives me any headaches, and then clean installing, and seeing what is up.

The only one I have seen so far is Black Glass.

[Theme] 928Droid "Black Glass" 2.2 for Froyo - Update.zip - MetaMorph - Back to Stock - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

But, I haven't flashed FRG22 yet. So, I have no personal experience.

It seems like a good rom but I can't get my email to work with it. Force closes every time I try to set up my exchange account. Never had this problem with any other rom.

This ROM isn't the fastest but definitely the smoothest out of all the ROMS I've tried. Everything runs like butter. I've also noticed that my 3G signal improved. All my google apps seem to run faster too including the Market.

I know this is bone stock but dang I wish some scripts like ad block was available.

I give this a thumbs up.
