I've pretty much ported the smoked glass theme we all have come to know and love and packaged it into a pretty awesome FRG01B Based Froyo ROM. This is an update to my original posting found here: [ROM] Smoked Glass ----CHARITY---- Themed Rom FRG01B Version 5.0
I don't think asking for personal donations is in line with the ideas behind open source software. Thus, I have decided to collect donation money for charity.
Please Donate, read below...
ALL (100%) of the money will go to NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION: Oil Disaster Recovery. I will be fully transparent in this process and will show any donors proof of the organization's receipt. I know this is a new idea, I hope it catches on. Please check out the organization at:

So far I have gotten excellent feedback on the ROM.

Wired/Wireless Tether Tested & Working (no longer included)
I highly recommend using Launcher Pro, It's free in the market. Much smoother than the stock Launcher....
Backing up...
Google saves your contacts, programs, settings, and bookmarks on the cloud.
You can double-back up program with Titanium backup, which will also backup application settings
You can back up text messages with a market app called "SMS Backup & Restore".
File is in the UPDATE.ZIP format.
Clockworkmod
Place the file you downloaded anywhere on the SD Card. Easiest place would be the root directory.
Chose "Install zip from sdcard" from the main menu
Select "Chose zip from sdcard"
Browse to the file (SG51-update.zip) and select it. Confirm the install, let it do it's magic.
Reboot.
SPRecovery Rename the file you downloaded to update.zip and place it in the root of the SD Card.
Select Install from the main menu
Select Allow update.zip Installation
Select Install /sdcard/update.zip (deprecated)
Reboot.
If you are running the most recent version of my ROM, you may not need to wipe data/cache (factory reset). It's never a bad idea though. If you bootloop, that is the reason.
Since I already have FRG22 any chance of getting just the enhancements and theme as an update?
Not being demanding, just asking, and if you say no, I'll understand...it's just that I have at least 2 modified files already and I'd hate to have to go back and modify them again....

Installed SG6.0 using ROM Manager and it seemed to install okay. Checked out a number of programs including Market and all worked fine. Did a backup using ROM Manager and, when it re-booted, went into a boot loop at the M.
Went to a backup of metiCkOne (FRG22 also) and it's okay.
Is anyone else having boot loop problems with SG6.0?
Are apps2sd enabled by default or is there something you have to do to enable it?
it is enabled, but very few apps mandate that they get installed to the SDCard.
Check out SDMove from the Market - it will show you the apps you ahve installed that have made specific mention as to whether they will, won't, prefer to, and prefer not to be installed to eh SDCard.
To move then you have to open the settings page from Settings --> Applications for each app - but this app does all that for you so you can go back and forth picking the apps you want to move over.
WARNING: Be sure to read and understand this page so that you don't try to move apps that may not offer the ability but that you should not move for whatever reason:
Actually, you should probably read the whole page, but for those too lazy, this section is a must read.

Nope, never boot looped on me at all. Still running it right now, have rebooted my phone numerous times, even performed a backup through ROM manager. Still going.
I just now received an update notification for an update - I wonder....
/me runs off to compare file sizes....

Heh - I'm off to party, boys and girls!
OK, I'll make a new thread for this, but...
the update notification I got was for 2.2 (FRG01B) - again.
However, the file size is different, the contents are hugely different, and now, instead of patching files on the go, it seems I have on my hands a full frg01B ROM waiting to be installed.
I am contacting some folks to verify this is, indeed, what I have, and then we might get it out there for folks to use as a substitute for the original (broken) FRG01B update.
I even read the updater.script file - no patching involved, it formats \system, and then copies the files from the .ZIP directly into \system....
Just rooted my phone and installed this, will let you guys know how it works once I get it running and stuff.
One question, how do I view the temp of my CPU, I did a quick search couldn't find anything, but I didn't think it would be hard, should be fairly common actually to find.

Scroll down and you will find two smoked glass dockbars one wide the other narrow. Just save it to your device, goto prefrences, appearance, dock backround, choose custom. It will pull up the gallery and choose the image you saved looks really good with this theme

It was a bad DL. Got it running now, and so far, I'd say this is the fastest ROM I've ever used on my Droid. Seriously...this thing is flying.
And I'm getting no re-draws w/ Launcher Pro Plus, which was a big problem for me on FRG01B (used to take up to 15 secs for Home screen to become usable when coming from an intensive app). Doo doo doo do doooo...I'm lovin' it!

I'm on LithMod Golden right now and love it but I wanna try this. I was under the impression I was restricted to FRG01B built ROM's for some reason.
Also, can I get away with not wiping if I am able to run this? What a pain that is.
Yes you can load this right over FRG01B. No you don't need to wipe data/cache. I switched from FRG01B, and I've had zero problems. But you should always make a backup of your current ROM first, just in case.

I don't know what's up with mine. Wifi will turn on and connect to networks, but constantly cut in and out...
I installed this ROM on Saturday. Today it started draining my battery. Last night I noticed that my display is bright all the time. I have auto brightens set, and that it is the display is at like 70% on the battery use. It went from 90% to 20% in about three hours with maybe 25 mins. of talk time and maybe 20-30 mins. of tinkering with the phone. Any suggestions? I have also noticed the phone is starting to lag some.
I've been having some battery issues as well, and uninstalled SetCPU to see if that helped. It wouldn't always follow the rules I set up and my phone would be at 250mhz.

Hmmm, I am also having battery issues now. My phone was running great all day yesterday w/ no batt issues. Today it was fine this morning. At about 11:45am it was at 70%. By 2:15pm it had dropped to 15% while sitting idle on my desk. I picked it up, loaded up a webpage, and it instantly dropped to 5%. Definitely something strange going on. I had the Engadget app running when I set it down, but I doubt that caused the battery drain.

Did you have that app running the day before?
People don't seem to understand something very basic about our phones: Apps that use active network connections, and particularly 3G, will drain your battery. Period.

@ dew912: That was my 1st thought as well. But I'd already updated that before loading this ROM, and I didn't do a data wipe, so everything should have remained the same. I'll do an uninstall/reinstall of the FB app later and see if that helps. Can't do it now, batt is dead and I'm at work. I've also been reading today that the fb update to 1.31 may not have solved the batt drain issue. Lots of people still reporting significant batt drain today.
@johnlgalt: I did have the Engadget app running yesterday, and didn't notice any problems. Battery usage seemed normal. Have never had a problem w/ that app in the past draining the batt, either. This was at home on wifi. Btw, I'm well aware that any apps or processes that transmit/receive data are going to burn the battery. This ain't my 1st rodeo.

Yeah my battery also always runs out faster at work. I think mainly because my phone does a lot of switching from 3G to 1X at work. But even still, it has never burned thru my battery that fast while sitting 'idle' on my desk.
I'm not blaming the SGv6 ROM at all. Just trying to get to the bottom of this. Will investigate more at home later. I was able to get my phone to power back on for a min, long enough to check the fb app and it is already at v1.31. I think there might still be a problem w/ that version of fb, tho.
possible, but I doubt it - mine has been off a charger for 7+ hours now, and I have the FB widget installed, and it is checking for stuff all the time - and I am well over 80% battery left.
It could be a combination of apps, though. or something weirder - the closest tower to you may have been worked on yesterday, and so it was working harder trying to reach a farther tower...
Network might have been slower...
Lots of variables, some you will never be able to do anything about....
Love this ROM so far, very fast and I like that it's already got a 1.1Ghz kernel in it.
An issue or two that I'm having so far is with the add ons. I have the Adobe Flash zip installed, but Hulu won't play, saying its not compatible with my device.
Also, I have the Droid X wallpapers on my SD card, but I can't see them anywhere in the gallery or wallpaper gallery, plus I can't make them a wallpaper straight from Astro. Any tips?
