Default Simply Stunning 5.5 GB - 2.3.5 8/19/2011

[Rom] SS 5.5 GB - 2.3.5 - 8/19/11

I've been soooo slammed (just like the last version!). So I appreciate your patience in waiting for this! I will be creating a new thread for 5.5 bugs - please post issues there, and not here!

Kernels - use the last published set as nothing new yet - Kernels 5/31/11

If you are already running 5.4 and have no issues - you should not have to wipe. BUT you should wipe cache. If you have weird issues - WIPE DATA ALSO. IF YOU ARE RUNNING RZR - you MUST have 2.0.3 or you will bootloop at the 'M'! You may ALSO have this issue with SPR. I know the latest version of RZR and any recent version of CWR should work just fine. If you see virtually no pause after seeing the text 'Installing data files ...', this is the problem. A critical part of the install is not running correctly. Latest version of RZR (2.0.3): [Recovery] RZR SPR-based *update.zips-battery charging-more*

NOTE: If you perform ANY operations in recovery before installing the ROM (ie. wiping) - REBOOT BACK INTO RECOVERY, and THEN install the ROM.

If you get any apps that FC when they never used to before - go into Settings -> Applications -> Manage, choose the trouble app, and clear data/cache. That SHOULD clear it up.

For market issues (thanks spc_hicks09!) - "If they're having issues with Market not restoring apps OR with Market crashing or failing to install apps. Tell them to reboot into recovery, mount USB and then delete the "android_secure" folder on the sdcard. Then wipe, then reflash the ROM"

If scripts (in Tools) are not working - MAKE SURE you have USB Debugging enabled in Settings->Applications->Development!!

And also - big thanks to my testers (in no particular order) who did a great job helping me out: redoregon, spc_hicks09, Sean Livingston, Chris Scarry, Frank Parry, Cyclej, Jared Gunnell - If I missed you, SORRY, please bring it to my attention - my head is spinning right now!

Old links for stock animations and circle battery SHOULD work - although you can now select framework animations right from my toolbox

A quick blurb about what is new (not much, mostly OS update):

2.3.5

Google Talk w/ Video
New icons in Settings
Pulldown graphics tweaked to be cleaner
Framework Animations! - ChevyNo1 Tools>Scripts

Apps included in data partition (so you can delete easily if you wish):

Wifi Tether
USB Tether
Flash Player
Chrome2Phone
Google Voice
Maps
Street
Voice Search
Quick Office
Sony Ericsson Home Launcher
aLogcat (use this if I ask for a logcat!)
QuickPic (faster/better than stock gallery)

Only a couple of screenshots ...

Doesn't seem like there was any performance improvements done from 5.4. I was about to flash this until I noticed that. I think I'm just going to go back to CM 6.x or another Froyo ROM since every GB ROM has memory issues for me. Multitasking has been nonexistent and overall the phone lags after running for more than a day straight between reboots.

I can't wait to upgrade to the GS2 or Bionic soon. This phone had a great run, but it's definitely showing its age now, IMO.

ive had luck with chevys low volt 1.0 ghz kern and the latest cyanogen7 nightly then i use ti backup to remove any apps i dont use like voice or the stock email programs, the cm staststics, fota kill, anything that says cm lol except the cm settings app(including the cm market installer). personally i use the yahoo app... all together i get alot of mem free... i multitask well too... just remeber to clear your cache and davilik cache and factory reset when you install it... and also remember, first flash the rom, gbapps then the kern... if you still need memory disable android keyboard in the settings and you will get another 10 mb free at all times furthermore format your sd card, it may contain old cache files for you droid which will bog it down... after a day of use it should re write em and it will be much faster the second day and after...

new nightlies

Very Impressive ROM so Far, we shall see how it holds up. My problem is not getting board of a Rom, they just slow to a crawl after time. This is something that needs to be resolved
