For missing album art, just go into the market and search for "rockon" but DON'T download it. Instead download the app simply labeled as "3" and it will find all of the art work for you by scouring the web. It's free and it is an awesome replacement for the default player and even comes with a pretty nifty widget

Default Missing Ablum Art

I was having the same problem. I downloaded Motorola Media Link. It syncs all photos, music and videos from Droid. I couldn't even listen to my music on the computer that I had on my phone unless it was connected. Anyway I sync the songs over and then went and updated alblum info in WMP. Not all will update but you can copy and past if needed. Hope this helps it's the only resolution to this problem I have found. It bugs me not to have my alblum art.

at someones suggestion i download album art grabber at it rocks.
I use itunes helper to move the music to my droid which is good (although it just moves the music in whichever playlist you associate it with.
I then use Album Art grabber to get the art work. except for 2 albums it found everything. For those 2 i found the alternate album names the songs were on and then it picked it up

You need a program that will embed the art into the mp3 that way no matter what, how, when, why, whatever you use the album art will always be there.

I'm pretty OCD about this stuff too. I'm just now going through the process of embedding the album art in most to all of my music, starting with the most listened to.

I'm so OCD, I don't trust auto art grabbers. I'm google/amazon searching every album and getting the ones I want, in the quality I want (500x500).

Mp3tag is the editor I use. I just drag and drop the art to the program and save tag.

It's free. And it's the greatest thing I've found in my life. I used to rename every single song individually (tens of thousands...) and Mp3tag does it all in batches. File to tag and tag to file, what ever you need.

But like people said before iTunes and Winamp (which I use) only download the art for the program. It doesn't embed in the file so if you don't use iTunes to transfer the music over to an iPod/iPhone your album art won't come with it. Which IMO is a very good thing because iTunes downloads art at like 1000x1000 or more size which is way too much. Once I filled my 80GB iPod cover art and all and the cover art took like 3GB of space. That's unnecessary, especially on the iPod with its tiny resolution.

(and yes I buy music. CDs, not mp3 crap. I download stuff and if I like it enough I buy what I downloaded. Or I download it then buy it when it's actually released a month later. =) I also am not rich, I can't afford to buy every CD I want to listen to. Eventually, hopefully I will... like when I graduate and junk.)

I also use Cubed (search rockon in the market and download "3") It will automatically grab all the album art for you. But it's only good if you use that program and if you wipe/data and stuff changing ROMs then youll have to delete the folder and redownload it because I've done it multiple times and it does not correctly relink all the album art.

I was just now looking at this Songbird program and was wondering if it did indeed embed the art in the tag. So it does do this? I'll have to give it a try. I could make better use of my life then manually doing each of my 4000 albums. Do you know the resolution of the art it grabs?

That's odd. What folder and where is it?
I embeded all the album art by myself into the songs on my Droid. I drag and dropped the folder from my computer to my Droid. It did not extract the art out of the file nor did it create a separate folder for the album art.

i had the same problem! BUT i managed to solve it! (or something like that)

before we start: if the file is not mp3 the tags would not work

here are the steps :
1. Go to "Songs" application
2. go to "Albums"
3. Choose the album you want to update it's picture
4. play any song for a minute or so the pause it
5. go to home page
6. shut down the phone
**you must not use any application between the pausing of the song and shutting down the phone**
7. activate the phone and when you go to the album the album art is there!
>>this way does not always work and also it doesn't work to UPDATE album art from one to other<<

You can also use the "3" music player, which is fantastic and free by the way, to download cover art. Just press and hold the cube with the album art you want to cahnge and you should get a bunch of different options. You can get this app by searching "rockon" (no spaces) and find "3" in the search results.

Hey guys, I don't know if you are looking for a good way to do this still, I have a Mac so only half of this process will work for me, but it looks to be pretty legit for Windows users, I'm still trying to find an alternative to the second half of this process for the Mac side of things.

Here is the article I found...

Embed iTunes Album Artwork in ID3 Tags

and a link to the iTunes Store File Validator that the previous article references

iTSfv

Hope that helps someone, chime in if you have a good solution for the actual artwork side provided by iTSfv for non-Windows users.

You can either edit the info of the songs, and drag a jpeg of the album art (thus embedding the art within the .mp3) - free method.

Or, you can do what I did, which is purchase the Album Art Grabber app. It searches the web for the album art for you. And in the worst case scenario, you can put the image on your SD card and it will assign for you.

I thought it was worth it, depends on your level of OCD though I guess.

Just downloaded album art grabber, great app! I'm OCD about the album art too. I was downloading covers off of google. This just saved me a big headache.

Hey guys, thanks for all the input thus far, helpful, but i seem to have a slightly different problem. I drag music into the droid from My Computer, sometimes it will appear with the correct album art, but when it doesnt, it always will use the album art of 1 band. So i have about 15 albums with the Forever the Sickest Kids album art, when that should not be there. Some of the correct covers are on my SD card, but i dont know how to assign them to be the album artwork. Any help would be appreciated.

As a recording engineer, I've been making mp3s since before Napster was invented. FWIW, I use Exact Audio Copy (EAC) at 320VBR via my desktop to rip commercial CD's from my collection. I also make sure the Freedb info is pulled down correctly before I start "ripping".
That being said, I just went to the "Market", looked at various Album-Art programs, and downloaded the "Album Art Grabber Free (beta)" and it's working pretty well. Just fixed up about 22 of 44 albums on my Droid with zero effort. I'll look into a better solution once I get this Droid fixed up to my liking (had it barely a week!)

...also, one of the biggest issues for finding album art or correcting tags is an incorrect or non-recognizable file names and album info that they can't find in the database. (Another reason I began building my own library.) There's also big differences regarding the cddb and freedb tag databases. I find the freedb tags to be more diverse, but not as accurate. So if you're using a re-tagging program, you're going to have to do some submissions and corrections yourself.

I am using windows and have my Itunes library updated with the artwork. Here's what I did to automatically embed the artwork from Itunes into the MP3 files.

Hope this helps!

I'm using Cubed beta ("3" in Marketplace). It is currently free, and does a fine job of finding missing artwork.

Check out the review in Lifehacker.

Surprised

I just got an android phone and wondered about the album artwork. I read thru this thread and I actually got the album artwork grabber free app and it did pretty good. In a few minutes it got most of my artwork for my mp3's. It even got an album cover from an album I bought in Ireland. I was impressed. My daughter also thought it worked very well for a free app and she works for a wireless carrier locally. Thanks for the info, I am sure I will be back to this forum until I figure out how to use this darn phone better. I can barely answer it but at least now I have alot of artwork. Lions6

Thanks Lions. Yes, it's a great product for quickly getting artwork and assuaged me a great deal, but deep inside, I still wish that the media player could sync it on its own as with my other mp3 players. But, it's not a hassle to run the program grabber once after every sync.

Add all of the album art via iTunes and use iSyncr to sync your Droid with iTunes. This program works great for syncing music to the Droid.

So do we know for sure that the Android system is stripping the audio file of the album art? Do we know why? I'm just curious, is all.

I rip with MediaMonkey, then add album art and make any other changes I need with Tag&Rename.

I noticed all my songs had no artwork in both the stock Android Music player and Winamp for Android. I've fixed it by using Album Art Grabber, BUT it cannot find a few covers, I guess I have a couple rare albums. And I don't wanan sound too OCD, but I have a fair few limited edition albums with alternate version covers that I want to use, but cannot find them with Album Art Grabber.

Boo.

Boo.
Give Cover Art Downloader a try. It can find various artist releases and rarities that Album Art Grabber Free cannot. It has a good batch downloader, but it might miss a few, but it lets you do custom searches. I only have one album that it couldn't find out of almost 200 and that's a bootleg. For that it allows you to set the album art from your sd card, so I was able to easily find a good image doing a google image search and apply it.

My favorite feature is that it can save the AlbumArt.jpg file to the albums folder on your sd card. I wipe my phone often or flash different roms, so this saves me the trouble of having to run Ablum Art Grabber again every time I wipe.

That's depend... If you're straight and the cover art happen to be a beautiful and sexy girl, then, yes, it makes the music better.

Dust, there is a good post for your problem on this iFans forum thread as it concerns more or less entirely a question about iTunes.

Laugh adding missing album cover/artwork to your music

You don't need any app for adding artwork to your music in your cellphone. Once you uploaded your music to google cloud, all you got to do is go to settings, hit apps, then tap google music play app, hit clear data. Then open the play music app and there! your app is syncing the artwork!
