All kidding aside, this brings up a good point about general streaming capabilities. The iPhone seemed to have better support. I know of a couple of sites that had video that played when viewed from my iPhone 3G but they do not work from the Droid. I don't know what the underlying differences are, though. I don't know what format those streams are in. I can't wait for flash support on the Droid so at least all the flash sites will play correctly.

I think it has to do with the stream format. Iphone uses quicktime and I don't think droid does.
My friend showed me this awesome app that you can get at botboobs.com. It's topless, unlike the versions sold on Android Market. Basically it's a set of 3D boobs that bounces and shakes in response to input from the acceleratomator. Only adult app I'm aware of. It's awesome in the car dock, the boobs shake and jiggle as you accelerate, brake, hit bumps, etc. I mean, my friend thought it was awesome and all.
Ok guys you can't be linking OR mentioning any porn sites. If that continues the thread is going to be deleted. Use PM's please.

Just curious, not tryin to start a flame war - what's wrong with links or mentions of legal porn sites? I don't see anything in the "read before posting" sticky or any kind of rules list in the header bar of the site.
But more importantly, what's actually wrong with talking about pornography? Honestly curious, not trolling.

I agree what's the big deal. Its legal and one of the biggedt industries in thr world
while i do agree rules should be followed...the title does say NSFW and adult, if people can't handle the information within the thread, isn't it their responsibility to chose whether or not to read it? just saying...:-)
Smoking is legal - but there are plenty of places that you are not allowed to smoke in.
In the US the right to bear arms is legal - but try taking a knife or a gun into a federal building or on an airplane.
That is why they are called rules. Get over it.
As I said in my post, where are these rules? I looked around all the links in the header and couldn't find anything like that. If they do exist they're not easy to find. And I was actually trying.
I was also pretty clear in my post that I have no problem with the rules BUT was asking what the point of the rules are.
You can't smoke in a restaurant because people are trying to eat.
You can't bring a gun into a federal building for reasons of national security.
Neither of those apply here. Either way, "get over it" is a pretty stupid response as it was clear my post that I understand they are the rules, but were questioning what logic was *behind* the rules.
But thanks for trying to start the flame war that I started my post out by trying to avoid.

chefboyardee, i'm sure you have a pretty good idea what the point is. they probably just want to keep it friendly and inviting for everyone. they probably want to maintain a clean rep for advertisers. they probably don't want it turning into a place where they have to constantly keep an eye on every thread just in case someone posts some crazy offensive sh*t. yadda yadda.

well, i can understand that i guess, but in other threads i've seen people posting about smoking pot in multiple posts, which is illegal in at least the united states, and that wasn't censored at all. so it's not like they're trying to be family-friendly all around.
plus, if they're moderating every thread anyway (which it seems like they are, or are trying to), i think posts to legal porn sites shouldn't be an issue, and they can remove the crazy offensive stuff as they go like they have been. i mean, they were able to find the thread about the porn links, which clearly says NSFW and "adult" in the title, so it's not like they would have a hard time removing actually offensive parts of it, as they've proven by removing pretty much every post in here that has any value.
if they're going to censor porn, they're going to have to censor talking about weed, and anyone cursing, if "family friendly" is the goal here.
but i think android knowledge is the goal here, and what mobile video sites work is a perfectly valid topic IMHO. way more so than dropping your J in the car and using the LED flashlight to find it (for example). just sayin. still love the forums, i just think that rule is poorly thought out.
and i'll ask again in case anyone has any idea - *where* exactly is this rule posted? nobody's been able to point me to it yet.

thank you for posting that, i guess i had skimmed that when i signed up, but apparently didn't read it fully (as i wasn't planning to actively post about porn anyway). i'm not arguing with the fact that it's a rule, i just honestly couldn't find it anywhere this week (maybe there should be a rules page? or if there is one, link better to it?).
it's their forums, and i admit fully that they can do what they want, i just think it's a stupid rule. especially since they don't censor other posts in a similar vein (the pot example being one off the top of my head). but it is what it is.

I don't own the site but I am pretty sure they can't have any porn links if they want to comply with there advertisers. And this just isn't the place for it, if it was in off topic then it might slide, but not here. Many users are underage and it's not fair to have those type of links around when they are just trying to learn about a new phone. The whole "turn the other way" argument doesn't apply because this is a privately owned forum and we have to abide by whatever rules are set in place, and those rules can change at any time without our approval.
Also, if I see any threads/posts condoning the use of illegal drugs I will surely remove those posts. I must have missed them and I apologize for that but I promise I'm not trying to single this thread out.

eh, they're probably also looking on google (that's how they found the forums in the first place) and we all know how easy it is to find porn on google. so that argument, while valid to some, plays minimally into my understanding of the rule.

agreed. that's why i wasn't necessarily raising a stink, just honestly asking someone close to the site what their reasoning was. anecdotal comments and "get over its" weren't what i was looking for, but...

this i can fully understand and get behind
edit: maybe the advertisers should look at the number of reads this post has gotten compared to some of the other beefy posts, and rethink their policies (if page impressions are their goal). ha!
